July 25, 2021 Live From Majestic Princess Alaska sailing

Recommended Posts

Wow,  how wonderful to have this opportunity for all of you CC cruisers!!!

It has been quite some time since we did our Alaska cruise.

It was on the CORAL princess, which was before other ships began doing Alaska.

The guests onboard were probably a bit older on the more 'traditional' cruise side.

Formal night, especially the first one,  was very well observed by most everyone!!!

Our last cruise,  which was a Caribbean cruise, in 2019, pre-pandemic, have very very few guests dressing up much at all.

I enjoy dressing up, as this is more of a rare occasion for us.

But, we skipped the second Formal, or 'GALA' or dress-to-impress night because we were worn out from enjoying the cruise so much!

No, you still have to set it.  If it turned green every time you left the room, I could see that being a problem for the room steward.
‘what did they want now?’ .. haha!

That’s true, ha ha. I never thought of that.

image.thumb.jpeg.405c04e342a80af7a3639d425c8e336e.jpegMy goodness, this deck 8 balcony cabin was a great decision!!

We have a perfect day to visit Glacier Bay. The sun is out and almost too warm now. I caught a few moments of calving on video. I hope that sound was picked up.

@HaveDogWillTravel We are in E436 for the invites. This will be the fourth time I’ve stopped and talked to Jan this cruise. What a wonderful opportunity we have!!

Lots of good info. in this thread!!! Thanks!

I've found the printed Patters for Days 1-3, but not for yesterday, Day 4. Did I miss it, or has it not been posted?

Also, I'm not too tech savy. I was wondering if someone who is, and not sailing now, would be kind enough to capture the printed Patters and various menus and post them all in a separate thread? I'd find that very helpful to reference, and think others future cruisers would too. 🙂

Fantastic! So happy for you!

For what's listed as an obstructed balcony, your view looks pretty unobstructed. Good job on picking a great location!

I captured a few photos to show the “obstructions” to post for cabin reviews, but this is just straight out from my chair. I am going to be sure to let my TA know this was a really great suggestion on her part.

so awesome, and we're going to be directly across the ship from that cabin in just a little over 2 weeks from now.  Last time we were in AK was sept 2019, very excited to be going back again

Good info and good lesson to really look at the deck plans to discover those bigger balconies. We sail on Aug 15th with an aft cabin on the Aloha deck #12. I hope we're not too high for great views like that! Thanks for sharing!

I have been following this topic with rapt attention! I asked the following question a couple of times and saw no answer. I've looked posts over carefully but I do have a full head of gray hair :classic_biggrin:. I know the Princess site states that the Enclave in the spa would be closed for 2021cruises (the Enclave takes the place of almost any excursions  for us in Alaska as we have taken most all of the ones of interest to us). Could someone report (in your spare time :classic_rolleyes:) back on the situation? Thanks in advance!

@GregDaniels813 "I'm not on the cruise but I'm going on the 8th, and I'm wondering the same thing. I called the line today and asked as I saw that the couples pass has come down in price, and the rep seemed under the impression that it was open and there were no changes, but I'd love to hear from someone on board."

Greg,

Thank you so much for alerting me to the price change! I had already reserved it for $299 (we are doing it as a couple). I went in to the personalizer, reserved it for the reduced price of $219, then canceled the original reservation. Will keep close track of whether the original came off my credit card.

Inquiring minds still wish to know.

I have no idea what all the reservations were for. I have not seen anyone check for reservations.

Can anyone tell me how afternoon tea (free) is working on the ship? Do they still offer is daily in one of the dining rooms and have they done high tea (extra)? I've looked at the patters that were previously posted and it seemed like some of the dining rooms were open from for an extra 90 minutes that made me wonder if that was it.

Thank you in advance and I'm so thrilled you're all having a wonderful time!

It's my favorite deck and balcony to book every Cruise.

I just saw that CDC went to orange meaning covid aboard. Has this been mentioned or is this also outdated info (even though it looks like it was updated today)?

I don't even bother wasting my time with those statuses it actually was yellow yesterday so orange is a level down. So I wouldn't be too concerned.

I agree, the Edge has a breakthrough case and it's green. 🤔

At 9 pm tonight I ordered a glass of white wine, a caramel creme desert and potato chips.
the wine appeared in 4 minutes flat!!!! Faster than sitting at the bar!
the desert snd chips came in 15 min.

That particular combination has never occured to me. However, I am now craving it.

I may just make that same request on our Spetember cruise.

Yum! So this is for tonight? Is it for all of the passengers? We are sailing in Sept and I purposefully booked the balcony dinner on the inner passage night because I thought it wouldn't be a special menu. Is this considered a "formal" night?

Yes, this is the menu for the second formal night. I'm going to have a hard time choosing when I sail in four weeks.
