Steelers36 actually took a really nice job explaining the difference. I have done both multiple times.

Just mentioned before with the chef's table when you start off at least on a royal class yet they usually do hors d'oeuvres and champagne in Alfredo's as an introduction and they give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and they give you some fun facts about relation of how much food they order on both to get on board and how far in advance they have to order and they take all sorts of questions you may have.

Entering one of the main dining rooms to make your way into the galley they give everyone a white coat before entering makes me feel very shelf-like and why. And then you get a lovely grand tour of the galley which is quite intimate and at the end of it you have the chef waiting there with a cute little setup more drinks are being served and some more delicious hors d'oeuvres that he has prepared is waiting you it gives you an opportunity to ask once again all sorts of good questions you may have.

After that you'll get escorted into the allegro dining room which is the one on Deck 6 all the way after they have the very fancy schmancy Lumiere table that has Swarovski Crystal curtain so the other people can't peek in and watch your beautiful experience. Obviously multiple courses a theater being served lots of wine. And it's really nice because everyone has kind of like their own little private wait staff as when they bring out your food they do a countdown and they all lift the dome at the same time to reveal the meal. Oh and you're eating off of like 24 karat gold silverware which I used to die laughing when I had a vodka margarita to say you were slurping vodka pretty much with a gold spoon. Essentially a really nice dinner and the chef so proudly comes out and explains every dish he does and at the end you do get a cookbook all the beautiful ladies get a lovely red rose and you do get a souvenir photo it is an amazing experience top notch quality meal.

Now the winemakers table like I said is always like a mini version but a lot easier on the pocket if you're not looking to spend as much as the chef's table. There's a table in the symphony and concerto that have The wine cellar table seats. Also has multiple courses of amazing food and the quality once again is also top notch the chef will come out and probably explain to you what you're eating and they pair each dish with a different wine so for example they might do wine from the Mondavi collection or one from the Silverado whatever their little heart desires at that time that they wanted present. No tours no souvenirs but a. gosh darn yummy meal

Excellent!!  I of course missed some little details for the Chef's Dinner as we have not done one.  I also should have mentioned we had at least a couple of HW's for the Winemaker's and I think the MD himself was there at least part of the time.  Yes, someone did explain the courses and such and I should have mentioned that one of the HW's talks about each wine as it is about to poured for each course.

If anyone on this sailing does the winemakers table will you please post pictures of the courses and menu with wine pairings?

I’d love to compare them to the chef table we had on the first sailing. I posted all the pictures and menu towards the end of our live from thread after I got home.

@Jeter02 If you have photos from a previous winemakers table that would be great.
thanks!

Wine makers table dinner that was on the Regal. I'm sure I have the menu somewhere I just have to dig for it which I could do later if needed. There was an ahi tuna poke there was an Ajit on a pokey. Delicious amazing white bean soup. Then we had amazing gnocchi. The main dish which was the piece of  resistance, filet mignon with Pate which is to die for on top. Finishing up with scrumptious little dessert. There was pairings of drinks to go along with a meal like we started off with champagne and we had a white wine a red wine and then they end with a dessert wine. Reminder to all those who might ask this is a $40 per person dinner and you have to inquire about it to get your name on the list.

Also please be aware if you have done a chef's table before don't be trying to try it again because every chef prepares a completely different dinner because I have photos from mine and in comparison to last week's Cruise whole different ballpark which makes the dining experience obviously that much more exciting every time.

I always thought that straight couples were getting shortchanged with the chef's table. They would present the man with the cookbook and the woman with a rose at the end of the dinner. We both got cookbooks but no roses when DH and I went. And then when I attended with a lesbian couple, both of them got cookbooks and roses. At $115 per person, it seems like everyone should be treated equally.

We went on the Ultimate Ship Tour and received 2 chef jacket and 2 fluffy bathrobe.  I had to purchase another piece of luggage to bring them home.

@Jeter02thanks for the pictures. I’ve done 4 chef tables. The one last week was my second with Neville. Yes the menus are always entirely different. in the past there’s always been open fire in MDR with some table side cooking by the executive chef himself. I’ve had 2 with amazing exec chef Joel Directo. Once Joel had a huge hunk of meat flaming table side! Neville did explain there could be no table side cooking this time under covid rules.

From yours and @Steelers36description of the winemakers dinner there is a substantial difference between it and Chef table.
The extra money for chef table is really worth it for me. Many thanks again.

CruiseChick33-

I thought of something while reading your first post. You mentioned that your DH’s luggage was delivered two hours after yours was delivered. This can happen,or luggage can be lost. So, in our early days of cruising,we decided to cross pack our luggage. In each bag, we pack items of each other’s clothing. It takes the worry away from  having a problem withmis-places baggage.

Just a helpful hint. You may be doing this already.

I am enjoying reading your posts and those of others on this cruise. My DH and took an Alaskan cruise on the Sapphire Princess in 2004. It was a wonderful experience. The posts here are bringing back great memories.Thank you.

I have never done the Chef's table, I think my husband would love it! But I have been hesitant because I am vegetarian - not sure if they can include vegetarian meals in the dinner...Anyone know?

What I have learned is that really comes down to the hotel restaurant manager because I had a friend once sailing with me who wanted to do the chef's table and wine maker table but had a nut allergy and typically they don't accommodate the allergies or dietary restrictions because they usually serve as is. But they made an exception for her and did accommodate because she was with me. The only way to know is by asking but typically during the meals they always serve for the entree meet such as veal, lamb, or beef.

Unless you have a HUGE appetite, you will be full after the appetizers so you could skip the meat.  I have only eaten a fraction of what they serve.

Just received chocolate dipped strawberries in our cabin before we get ready to go to the Captain's Circle reception (it is the 2nd formal night).  Have not seen the strawberries available to the Elite members as the complementary canapes in a few years.  Did not get a form to select which canapes we want for either formal night; they are choosing what to deliver.

When did you go on the Ultimate Ship Tour?

Many many years ago.  I was trying to say 2 chef jackets and 2 bathrobes (the ones in the stores they sell for round $95) took up so much room in my luggage

Here are photos from our November 2019 WM Dinner on the Sky Princess with the most popular Mondavi menu (now called Frescobaldi menu) which has been used on all 5 of our WM Dinners with only some slight modifications. It’s one of our favorite dining experiences in addition to the UBD.

It’s certainly not the Chef’s Table extravaganza but we can enjoy both a WM Dinner & UBD for less that a CT which we’ve enjoyed several times. 😋🍷

I appreciate how important food is to everyone.  We can't live without is, but I would like more information on other areas of the ship.  Have there been any Princess theatre shows?  If so how is that handled with the "covid restrictions?  Are there "movies under the stars?  We know that Alaska has suffered in the "pandemic".  We hope that cruisers can help with some of the suffering.  Anything else is helpful, except "food"'

I’m sure it’s possible. They meet with you prior to the dinner to address allergies, or other issues. At the dinners there provide an alternative food options.

Had a great day at Glacier Bay today! This morning was incredibly cold and rainy. We spent most of our morning walking out to our balcony and back in to warm up. It was very sad to see how much Margerie Glacier has receded. It looks like someone took a large ice cream scoop to the front of it, it is so bowed in in the middle. There is definitely a lot more land showing in the middle compared to 2 years ago.

After John Hopkins Glacier we decided to take a nap. We woke up around 1pm and went for a small lunch. Today we tried the lobster roll at the Burger and Lobster Bar. It was ok. Not bad, but not great. Their fries were really good though!! From there we meandered down to the shops to check them out. We aren't big into purses or jewelry so we didn't find much we were interested in. Afterwards we went to look at our photos.

Michael, one of the photographers, has taken our pics every night. He is by far the best on the boat! 90% of the pictures we chose were shot by him. Something to keep in mind, if you want digital pictures and prints, make sure to get the digital pictures first!!! The pictures can't be resized if you buy the prints first!! We chose to get the digital for now so I can alter them on my laptop before we print them. They put them on a USB drive for me as the Ocean Concierge is not working. I prefer this as the Ocean Concierge service will download the pictures to your phone, not your computer. Yes, I can email them to myself but that is a lot of extra steps when your internet is not good.

Around 3pm we went back to our room to relax and play games. We got our chocolate dipped strawberries and ordered specialty coffees on the app. I was very impressed with how fast they arrived compared to room service. They also threw in some awesome cookies! Tonight is formal night and the Chefs Table so I will make sure to update tomorrow.

There are shows. No real Covid protocols except cleaning after (they wipe down every armrest, etc).

MUTS are happening too. Chairs with blankets are out for people when it’s cold.

I usually go to shows and trivia, etc but haven’t this cruise. None have really appealed to me that much. But they are happening for sure.
