So that's kind of murky but Carnival may still come out with more guidance, so who knows?

We're watching too - so happy to have some football on TV!  We're Dolphins fans but will take whatever football we can get.  🙂

Very very murky.  I understand their purpose for saying this.  I could just go to CVS and buy a test and swab the desk and say I’m negative.  But this is totally different.  The tests are sealed and must be opened on video in front of the healthcare official on the video chat, they watch you administer it and provide a digital certificate of proof.  So your not showing up with a test kit as proof.  But ugh, who knows what they will do or say.  Very frustrating.

I cant believe its already football season, college will be starting soon as well and I cant believe it, very excited to have cheering fans in the stands this year too!

I'm curious if you have used these kits before. The reason I ask - I did testing at a drive-thru pharmacy when I had symptoms. I had previously had 2 covid tests done as pre-op procedures so I felt comfortable doing it at the drive-thru myself. Despite that, my test came back 2 days later as "inconclusive", so it would appear that either I did something wrong or their was some other issue with the test. I went in for rapid test that day and indeed tested positive. I guess if you get results immediately then no issues with an inconclusive test. Hope that these work out great for you!!

Never tried it before, we literally just got them a few days ago and like I said they were our backup plan in case something happened and we needed to fly back from a foreign port.  Been hearing a lot about issues with finding testing in some countries that would be accepted.  This one is accepted by Delta, United, and a few other airlines so it was our “break glass in case of emergency.”  Solution that i thought we could use for this as well.

Funny enough, I got tested at CVS a few months back in the drive through where i did it myself in the car while they instructed and monitored, no different than this and apparently thats acceptable?

So many unknowns, conflicting information, etc.

I just saw a lot of people posting about having difficulty finding testing locations near them and their date was approaching, I thought this would be helpful for those in need.

Saw this on a FB post so take it however you want.  Someone on the Vista is saying they are being very strict about the mask policies in the comedy club and the piano bar.  Supposedly if you have a drink, you can remove the mask to take a sip and then have put it back on.  They said they’ve seen people being removed for failure to wear the masks.    The person also reported that mask wearing has been strictly enforced in the casino as well.

No mask wearing at dinner or outside so least they goes on point with what John/Carnival has said.  It’s good to see the crew enforcing the comedy club/piano bar/casino mask wearing rules  as I was a little worried they might have let things slide a bit.

Do they produce a laboratory report?

So this should also mean no smoking indoors. I know the said it, but they haven't officially announced it. They need to state it emphatically along with vaping.

You mean in the Casino?  Thats the only area i know of "indoors" on a ship where you can smoke.  Indoors sort of implies you can smoke anywhere inside the ship.

I dumped my stock this morning.

My brother is on the Vista right now and he said there has been an outbreak (11 people as of 4 August) of Covid on board with one person transferred off the ship in Belize.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the mask mandates won't be enough to quell the fears and that further cancelations are on the horizon.

I hope I am wrong, but that's my thought process.

😶 not gunna say it....nope...just not...😶

So assuming they were only at 50% capacity, 11 out of 2000 is still 0.00559%. Not exactly what I would call an outbreak....

When was this ever about making sense? COVID deaths are at their lowest point since this all started in March 2020. Yet, we are acting like this is March 2020.

Nationally, yep.  Locally here in FL, not so much.  We're back up above any of the previous "local minimums" (using a math-graph term), and the trend is expected to keep increasing.  Since Carnival sails out of FL, I imagine that is weighing heavily on this.

I completely agree.  It is great to see Carnival enforce a policy for once.  I guess when the life of there business depends on it they actually enforce the rules.  Unlike chair hogging and hats in the MDR which I actually don't care about.

But yet many people are affected and nobody can know the depth of someone's sensory level or challenges. So this is a great post to show that not all people deal with the same things and someone else may be floored with something you shrug off. Love each other and try to see their side before you condemn anyone. They might surprise you with a perspective you didn't think was relevant.

I was not saying that with malice, I promise. I was saying that with compassion. I am unable to understand having SPD to that extent. I have some sensory issues that come along with my anxiety, but thankfully nothing severe. But I think a LOT of the people upset about masks "ruining" their vacation neither have nor have heard of Sensory Processing Disorder.

I don’t think it matters why some people prefer not to vacation while wearing masks. Not everybody thinks alike or has the same preferences. It’s ok.

I am very uncomfortable with masks covering my nose and mouth. Maybe it dates back to me getting anesthesia when I was having surgery at age 5 and having something placed over my face. I don’t know, but I will avoid wearing masks when I can.

Vacationing with strict mask requirements on a cruise ship is not something I would enjoy. Wasting thousands of dollars on a vacation I would not enjoy would be silly. It’s ok for people to feel differently about things.  It’s personal preference.

Not gonna lie, I hate the mask stuff, whether I’m at home or in a store, I do it to protect others, although I question whether or not they deserve protection these days, some do, some don’t. However, I find carnivals mask requirements kinda lax. You are only required to wear them in assigned areas, elevators, and waiting for food if there’s a line. So it’s not 100% all the time while in doors. It’s only suggested during those times. You can go from point a to point b as long as an elevator isn’t involved and barring it isn’t crowded without a mask. I can deal with that. Now, granted all this crap is open to interpretation and that’s how I read it. So imma sail in September and see what happens.

TN, I didn't think of extenuating circumstances like that. Certainly not SPD but could be a very real source of discomfort. I hope those who are unable to cruise with masks are able to get their refunds or rebook for a time when they'll be more comfortable.

Yes, we were able to rebook with no penalty and were even able to keep out OBC of $600. Hopefully, next year will be better. In the mean time, I hope they fill up the ships and can keep cruising.  I understand the new requirements and am glad there are people who are fine with them.

Not always true, on some ships there is a cigar lounge we can smoke in.

TN, I haven't said so but thank you for your courage, and forward thinking! You made the right decision for you, considering the circumstances. Good job!

Not on Carnival.  That is on the newer builds of NCL.

Well... used to is the answer.  There USED to be a cigar bar on Carnival ships, one of the many changes over the years.
