Navigator repositioning

Recommended Posts

Welcome to Cruise Critic.....Mexico itineraries start in November. No word yet but assuming as have many other's it will have no guests. I'm booked for Jan 2022 and looking forward to RCI porting out of San Pedro again....it's been way too long.

The Navigator went the other direction through the Suez.  It is currently nearing Singapore.

Why quote me ?...I don't care which route she takes ..... as long as she gets here.

When isNavigator coming through the Panama Canal for the LA cruises?  Will it take onboardguests?

Some of us are hoping it follows Mariners path when it came to LA 12 years ago. Around the horn, three legs and 31 days.  We have 2 cabins booked for Jan 2022

She is in the Pacific already currently in the Straits of Malacca. Her next port of call is Yeosu Korea.

She's about to sail into Long Beach.

Wouldn't she actually be in San Pedro?

Isn't Serenade supposed to sail out to the PC next month?

That is strange, especially since once the Ovation and Serenade finish in Alaska soon, RCL won't have any West Coast presence until the end of November. Princess and NCL will start from San Pedro in October, Carnival will have two ships out of Long Beach, and HAL will have two ships doing the CA coast and Mexico. Even Celebrity and Disney will be going to Mexico, but not RCL, which is odd, since Australia is still closed and Florida and the Gulf seem to get more severe Fall hurricane action. Sure, we don't have any fancy private islands, but then CA is less slammed by Delta and has a more cruise-friendly governor than FLA. On the bright side, there are some great fares when it actually does start, and a mix of 3-4-5-7/night cruises.

I assume they do not have a full crew onboard. That will require quarantining when they arrive.  They may also need to do a test cruise.  They also probably need a USCG inspection.  Waiting until November is beyond the CSO unless it is extended.  There could be a number of other factors.

Not strange at all - be glad there's any RCI presence in CA at all.

She has media cruises and trade event cruises in advance of her first revenue sailing.

Granted those only account for a few days but presumably she'll need a simulation cruise prior to the trade event cruises and there was little point having her hang out in the Caribbean so she might as well hang out off the west coast until then.

The last thing they could afford is an unexpected issue during transit and having to delay her west coast launch.  Much better to be there early.
