However very few cruise ship MDRs could be considered "high end", and maximising throughput should be the aim.

So are we all agreed that bookings should be scapped and an orderly virtual queue is the best option.

Yes.....I would agree.

Not so fast because many of us like to have the same wait team for the full voyage.

Well the Grand/Crown and Royal class all have 3 MDRs, so perhaps one could be dedicated to those wanting to pre book their dining times, whilst the other two could be totally freedom dining, but using the P&O virtual queue system.

Queenmom here.   Thank you all for suggestions for using the Princess website and Medallion program to sign in to an assigned dinging room time.  We gave up in sheer frustration and a nice deal on HAL appeared so we cancelled Princess— took another couple with us!

as I am the techie in this home, sometimes signing up for programs are just so convoluted!    I wish it was all KSS— Keep It Simple !!!!

afain, thank you all!

I think the app is really iffy. We booked just before 90 days out. Last month I was able to book all of our dining reservations; 7:00 p.m. each night in the same MDR other than 2 specialty dinners which I was able to also book (we have the premier pkg). These reservations do show up on the app on my phone.

A couple of weeks ago I was able to access the full ship itinerary including activities and such. Luckily I notated days/events that I want to remember; 70's night, formal nights, M&G mtg, etc. Now it would seem that the only info I can find on the app is port dates.

As I said....iffy at best !!

I agree, I don't really expect Carnival to take advice from any passenger, unlike RCI group who are totally customer focused.

What happens if you want one of you to go to bar to get drinks for both of us (the other being elsewhere), do you have to take both medallions to buy them or will they both get put on the one account?

From another topic -

Some bartenders are willing to split the drink order between 2 medallions and some will say they are and still charge just one.  Based on that, my hubby plans to rotate which person gets charged for 2 and check our balance regularly.  We won't get to 15 alcoholic drinks, but might if they include specialty coffees and juices and charge just one medallion every time.  We'd rather keep checking than deal with Guest Services...

Nothing counts against the 15 unless it contains alcohol. We insist that they split every order   We have had times when one of us has gone over 15 late evening and we are often in different areas of the casino then which causes an issue

I have downloaded new Princess Medallion app on my android phone. I added a my shipmates so I can reserve the Dining all together. But the issue is my each shipmates are showing up 4 times on the app and when I select one all 4 are getting selected. Does anyone having this issue? Is there a solution for this?

Mostly responding to welcome to CC and Princess forum.  This is a new one for me.  Did you have four voyages to add by chance?  Are you sailing B2B2B2B?  How many other cabins besides yours are involved?

This the only voyage I have. I have 2 state rooms with 2 adults each. I went to Dining reservation and added the reservation number for other room. Nor it's showing 2 adults under my room and Under Shipments it showing Guest 1 & Guest 2 4 times. And If I select one all 4 are getting selected.

So I am very confused. I have not cruised in about 12 years (2012). I have a Princess Cruisetour to Alaska booked. Are meals still included in the booking? I know you can pay extra for Premium dining but are basic no frills meal still included in the basic booking?

Yes both MDR meals breakfast, dinner and lunch on sea days are included. Also buffet and lido deck pizza and grill are also included. Oh and International Cafe. You will not starve

You mentioned a cruisetour which has both a cruise and a tour component. The answer above is correct for the cruise part. For the tour part, most tours do not include meals although the last I knew a meal package is included. Some of the Princess upper-end tours (the name they use for them escapes me at the moment) do include meals.

MDR = Main Dining Room (on most ships, there are multiple main dining rooms but they all serve the same menu - think of them as different sections of the same dining room).

Thanks! I was clear about the land portion. MDR = Main Dining Room (Doh!)

Escorted tours will usually include at least two meals per day depending upon the day's activities, and other days will include three.

Yes. That is what our Itinerary indicates. In addition, some of the excursions include lunch.

It's all listed in your Travel Summary. Easy to see what you have if you look there.

Actually it is NOT listed at all. That is why I had the question.

Weird. We've done two Alaska cruise tours and everything was listed in detail in the Travel Summary. Perhaps because they were the connoisseur cruise tours. Sorry for the inaccurate info.

It should be listed in the summary for the land portion - not the cruise portion. It normally had (B), (L), and/or (D) at the end of the listing for each day. Please relook at your summary and see if these are listed.

It IS listed for the Land portion. That part was clear. I was speaking only of the on ship portion. The way they are pushing all of the premium dining options almost made it seem like you had to choose one of those or starve.
