Been waiting 539 days for this moment...🥳...when I walked off Harmony in February of 2020, i expected to be sailing the Med in May and had several others booked into 2021.

Thankfully I have an amazing travel agent who has managed to keep track of lifts and shifts & FCC’s, and for months has shared my optimism that one of these booked cruises would finally “stick”. Once I knew it was finally going to happen, then it was a full week of anxiety waiting to take that antigen test, until finally the CVS email notification came up, and I was finally able to open that bottle of wine, pull out the suitcases, and start packing.

Have done quite a few live reports and even one on Symphony in March of 2019, so forgive any redundant photos or random musings. I won’t possible remember what I posted back then, and most certainly was a few pina coladas in during most of my live report . I am expecting this cruise experience to be a tad different, although hoping the pina colada situation is  status quo.🍹

Hey Chris,  been very busy the last couple weeks with a few other things and haven't been on CC at all...probably won't be for the next 3 weeks either but had to bookmark this thread as I definitely want to come back and read it once things settle down.  It's not to late to book next week.😇

glad we decided to try this. Most everything was very good, portions were good for just sampling, and it was really a fun experience. The Mad Hatter walking around from table to table was kind of creepy though. 😳

Yep, he was mostly a very large distraction so we felt like we couldn't really react to the dishes. He hung around our table most of the evening, guess I'm just a weird magnet!

I did try doing a search, but still couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. We are a group of six scheduled to sail on the Oasis in December. Final payment is around the corner. Some in our group are concerned about having to wear a mask inside. All of us are vaccinated. Can you give me a brief rundown of where masks are required and how you’re feeling about the situation?  We just spent three weeks on the Celebrity Summit where no masks were required as we sailed out of St. Maarten. Not totally opposed to wearing a mask, but really want to understand the situation. Thank you.

A lot can change between now and December but this is from Royal Caribbean's Healthy Sail Center:  https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center/getting-ready-to-cruise

Masks are NOT required to be worn:

  • In open-air areas of the ship, unless you are in a crowded setting.
  • In the pool or any activity where they may become wet.
  • At venues designated for vaccinated guests only, such as select bars, lounges, restaurants and shows.
  • In your stateroom when you are with your traveling party.
  • While visiting our private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, unless you are in a crowded setting.
  • By any guest under the age of 2.

Masks ARE required to be worn:

  • While indoors in public areas of the ship, unless seated and actively eating or drinking.
  • While visiting public ports of call, where local regulations may require them.

Mask-Free Spaces

Some venues and nightlife events will be for vaccinated guests age 12 and up, only. Masks won't be required in these venues. Vaccinated parents are invited to enjoy these experiences while their kids are living it up at Adventure Ocean.

Appreciate this information. I’m also curious as to the actual onboard experience.

yes! He would just walk up to the table and stare at us with a weird smirk on his face. Definitely had the “mad” persona down pat 🤪

Sounds like you had the same person that we had on Symphony a couple of years again.  He had the whole weird Johnny Depp thing down pat...especially the way that he moved his hands.  Very creepy.

Perhaps other cruise lines will follow.
ORLANDO, Fla.
 – Carnival Cruise Lines has released new testing requirements Thursday for fully vaccinated guests.

The company said effective Sept. 13., vaccinated guests will be required to get tested for COVID-19 within two days prior to the sailing date. If the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken on Thursday or Friday, and as late as Saturday, if you are guaranteed to receive your results in time for check-in, the company said.

So, I would say it’s not bad actually. I guess it depends on where you think you’ll spend most of your time. Any outdoor space is pretty much mask fee. Boardwalk, Central Park, pool decks. Many interior bars and the casino are also vaccinated only venues. Shows are also vaccinated only, and no masks. Really when you are traveling from place to place, elevators obviously and when you enter any interior dining venue until you sit down.

I really don’t mind it at all. I would not have cruised if masks were required everywhere  indoors. In fact, I feel like the current  policy is reasonable. I would say some people are obviously stretching the rules. Like walking with a drink indoors constitutes activity “eating or drinking” 🙄
