I can't believe they don't have it open late, you know, when all the other food is gone and the drunchies are running around looking for a fix. Because all the rest of the time there are too many other free options available.

I resemble that remark. 😆

So we get off the ship, walk through Dufry and find zone 5. They gather us together and in about 10 minutes we were walking to the bus. Lots of entertainment with dancers and a band playing along the walk. Of course a hundred shops with goods and what not that we visited when we came back.

We drove from Amber Cove through Puerto Playa, around town and past the Neptune statue, past the rum distillery, past playa Dorada to Sosua. A 45 minute drive and the guide gave great information about the high point and the population and the people, money, etc. When we got to Playa Sosua we got off the bus and walked through an area of beach shops and bars down to the water.

Once we got down to the water, the catamaran backed in as far as it could and we all climbed on. This was the point I realized the surf was pretty rough. This is also the point I remembered that this place wasn’t know for swimming with turtles or reefs or anything really exceptional. So I passed on snorkeling and enjoyed the bar, sun and views. Do not get me wrong, no one was in danger. It wasn’t white capping. But for me, all the effort to get on and off and fight the current and the equipment and fins and life vest… wasn’t what I wanted to do right then. DH had a great time. Others, did not. Some of these people had never snorkeled before. They loved feeding the fish and the two types of fish they saw. Some thought it was a big fight to do it and only stayed out for 5-15 minutes. There were 2 snorkeling stops. The second stop had quite a few less snorkeling than the first.

The bar opened after the first snorkeling stop. Coors light, rum and sodas and water available. After the 2nd snorkeling stop, the lunch buffet opened. Make your own sandwiches, pasta salad, potato salad, hard boiled eggs, fruit, and coleslaw. I get my food and realized that while I was in line, my seating area turned into the regurgitation station. Whole side of the boat has their heads in buckets. So I take my sandwich elsewhere.

Then the sails go up and we sail along the coast for an hour and a half. They had music going and they took pictures you could purchase at the end. It was nice. We ended at Playa Dorada at the golf course. Same beach exit as we got on. Got on different buses and drove back to port. It was probably a good 6 hour excursion and I enjoyed it even without snorkeling.

Wow, it was rough enough for that many people to get seasick? 🤢

The table next to us (on top of us) basically have been here 35 minutes and their entrees just showed up. Problem is… they never got appetizers. The waiter takes the entrees, brings the apps and says “no worries. We will hold the entrees for you”. Are they going to just sit over there? Get cold? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Yikes … that’s rough… I hope they didn’t have to eat cold dinner… they must have been very busy tonight… the egg drop soup looks amazing!
