We are headed out on the Allure on 1/22. Unless something changes drastically we will be on that cruise. One of the first chances we have had in many years to take a kidless vacation and don’t want to give it up.

We are scheduled for that week as well. Second week of a B2B. not cancelling just yet. The situation seems to be very fluid. We will just watch it day by day and see how things go. if more people chose to cancel, that's better for those of who will sail. (more space to social distance).

We are also on the Allure sailing Jan. 22. When we booked it, we thought we could handle the risk from Covid while on board. Now with Omicron and with the numbers going the way they are, we think we will cancel. We had a May 2020 cruise canceled, and now this one looks worrisome. My husband says we are just postponing our cruise and will go later. Sigh.

I'm just curious.  I know RCL gave everyone the option to "cancel" out their cruise here recently because of ALL the changes, because of the virus, etc. problems it was causing when cruising, and was going to give a credit to those that wanted to do this. My question, have you decided to cancel out your cruise, or go ahead as planned? I was thinking if several canceled out, that will leave the ship even more empty, or more room for those that still plan to cruise! 🙂

We are cruising.  Just got off Freedom for Christmas and going on Freedom again next Friday.  12 more cruising booked for 2022 and plan to be on every one of them!!

I was on the Brilliance out of Tampa on its first voyage with half capacity on December 16. Everyone stayed masked for the most part and the crew was enforcing the use unless passengers were eating or drinking when inside. Needless to say there was a lot of eating and “drinking”. I saw one crew member stop a group of non-vaccinated (no bands) passengers from using the casino as a throughway. Social distancing in elevators went out the window, but that was expected. Ate in the dining room with a couple of friends. They are not arbitrarily seating people who are not traveling together at the same table. Passengers traveling alone were seated by themselves.

Some venues were for vaccinated passengers only, like the casino. Others were segregated, in the main event location, vaccinated only on the lower deck (5) and everyone on the upper deck as they desired. I don’t normally go to shows but went with my friends. Also went to the tiny theater to see movies, people remained masked. Activities were modified but still fun to participate in.  I was diligent about masking and sanitizing my hands as were my friends. We remained negative before and after. And we had a good time, it’s not quite the same, but that is to be expected. And I was glad to be onboard.

If you can’t or won’t wear a mask as required, perhaps you should wait a bit longer. I’ve five more cruises booked between now and the end of March which includes two cruises back to back for 20 nights. I’m sailing on January 3 for five nights but playing the rest of the cruises by ear.

We are not canceling our Jewel of the Seas on 1/9.  This cruise will be a B2B for us, looking forward to being on the ship, don't mind if some of the activities are limited.

I’m also doing Jewel on the 9th as a B2B. Then I hop to Oasis, Odyssey and back to Jewel. L&S plus great solo rates and now I’m cruising for 47 nights straight. Right now I plan on going on all of them. Hoping to stay negative the whole time.

Im just down the road from you in Palm Coast. We should meet up one day on Jewel. I do love the ship has all the outdoor seating with the windjammer

I only need 3 pts for my first crystal block so of course I'm looking forward to it. 2nd leg I turn diamond plus and get bogo pay restaurants which I will do. I cant wait to board.

We were due our third crystal block on Adventure February 2020.   Staff promised it would show up in the room but it never did.  After everything shut down soon after, we never bothered to call about it.

we are still going 9th Jan out of Barbados for 14 nights on Grandeur ( we live in the UK) , we like the smaller ships and whatever ports we go to we don't mind as only ever been to the BVI.  Hopefully ship should not be to busy

I know you are asking specifically about January cruises, but we just canceled our February 20th cruise on Oasis. Since it's a holiday week, I think there will be tons of unvaccinated kids on board since they're still allowed to sail unvaccinated (for the under 12 crowd). So, I called Thursday and canceled. It's not worth it to us to worry about the vaxxed vs unvaxxed venues, dining rooms, etc. plus reading all the reviews from people who were on cruises the past couple weeks (also holiday weeks), it just didn't sound that enjoyable. We are pro mask wearing and the idea of it being inconsistent at best, just made us too nervous. We are vaxxed and boosted, fwiw.

We're sailing on the Harmony on 1/16.  No plans to cancel unless positive COVID.  But we're boosted and have avoided it thus far.  No plans on going anywhere near crowds.  Work is relatively safe as I have an office and few come there but 3 co-workers on occassion.

We’re on this cruise too. We have a large group, and everybody is still gung ho! Problem though, we tested positive, caught it on Xmas day. We’re both pretty much fully recovered now. So with 3 vaccines, plus recently having COVID, we should be golden…I hope!

Booked on Navigator Jan 17th...My home port so an easy car ride. The only way I'll not sail is if we test positive for covid (both vaxed & boosted)...or if RCI cancels the cruise. Apparently the occupancy estimate is around 1900 and may be even less by the time we sail. Fine with us. My BidUp from my GS is looking promising....fingers crossed.

How do you know the occupancy?  I would be very happy if Symphony was at 50%.  This was the reason we chose the date.

A very helpful poster onboard has gotten some capacity approximations from guest services for a few of the Navigator sailings in January. More than likely those might now go down considering last minute cancellations and or no shows.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had one test kit left that was going to expire on 1/5 so I went ahead and took it. It's positive, so since that's in the 14 day window I went ahead and cancelled Adventure OTS for 1/17 😞

HOPEFULLY, things will settle down before we sail on Grandeur OTS in May.

Hope anyone still on AOTS has a great time and stays well.
