Could someone inquiry about the passenger count?

 

We sail 4/2 on the Emerald, so quite curious.

I had asked a few days before disembarking, the count was at 1,600+ for this cruise.

The Captain just announced that masks are now recommended, not required, in most areas. Exceptions are the theater, casino, medical center,  tenders, embarking and disembarking. Letters are in cabins with details

We'll be on the 'Emerald' next month. Who is Captain now? Hope the rest of your cruise goes well and that the food & entertainment is over the top.

The captain just announced that we have 1,668 passengers on board plus 1,087 crew.

We dubbed ourselves the "Covid Gang."  And, we all kept our distance while walking around the grounds with masks.

Glad you are able to get out for some fresh air but it’s not good what you experienced in the isolation cabin on the ship. Wishing you well!

Thank you both!  I'm hoping that's the case.  I've counted up the available cabins as 133 plus guaranties on most levels.  I figure 200 cabins tops...that's only 400 people, double occupancy, so hope they have cabins blocked out to reduce the capacity.  Otherwise we are at 2,700, give or take.

The fire doors on Aloha deck are closed with some sort of warning sign on them so we're thinking that that is likely the quarantine deck.  Those staterooms would have appeared as though they were sold on the map so your cruise might have something similar.

Yes, the last leg (Feb 27-March 13), Aloha was also the quarantine deck  🙂

We can confirm that Aloha deck was/is the isolation deck.  We were isolated in A 304.

Was it the whole Aloha desk or just the forward section?   Port and Starboard?

 

We are booked mid-aft on Aloha deck in August.  The ship appears very very full already.   If they had to move us from Aloha deck, I don't know where they would put us!   

 

I am hopeful the need for quarantine rooms will be greatly reduced by then!

For sure, it was forward on both Port and Starboard sides.  I can't say for sure how far back they went?

I was on the Emerald from 28 Jan to 27 Feb.  On Aloha deck - If I get the sides correct, the entire Starboard side was closed at the elevators from Aft door to Forward door.  Walked down aft stairs from buffet every day plus went down middle and forward stairs   and all 3 hallway doors were  locked.   On the port side, the Aft hallway door was open but when I looked down that hallway toward the front , the first fire door was closed.  The mid and front hallway doors at the elevators were closed.

You described it well!  Still the same.  Additionally, the signage on the closed doors on Starboard side indicate the Starboard side is for "Yellow Zone" (we spoke with one of the crew who recently joined the ship and did his required new crew quarantine on Aloha before he began actively working).

 

The Port side (from about E700 forward) indicate that is for Red, Orange, and Yellow restricted zone.

 

Personally, I'm glad that Princess has kept quarantining area's consistent during this transition period, and we feel reassured of options after learning about LACruiser88's experience.  So nice to know isolation/quarantine isn't in a interior cabin with no window (not sure about other Princess ships of course) 🙂

It’s not just for infected passengers. New crew self isolate there before taking up there duties.

They probably have to have a certain number set aside for CDC requirements

Please can anyone share what has been said about going ashore without an official Princess tour ? Particularly interested in ports which have been substituted.

Up to 27 Feb (when we got off), we were given a letter telling us what each port would be - Going around on your own, private tour ok, only a Princess tour.  We had a couple of changes in what could be done at each port between the 28 Jan and 12 Feb cruises.  It is or has been an ever changing port requirement from cruise to cruise.
