Threat to cancel cruise for not paying final payment…but invoice shows 0.00 balance

Both CS and resolutions confirm there is no balance due.  They can see the message that I owe something.  They put in a trouble ticket and are telling me to ignore the message.  I won’t be completely relaxed until I’m onboard and in my chosen cabin tomorrow.  Royal IT at its best!

Has happened to us three times since the restart - two with a zero balance and one where they misapplied a gift certificate as a debit instead of a credit. Their systems are really wonky and their accounting staff is clueless.

So no issues once you boarded? So good to hear.

We managed (through numerous phone calls) to get them all resolved before we boarded. One thing that we insisted on is that there would bee notations in our reservations that they had made an error and that we were in fact up to date on everything. My best suggestion is keep calling and reinforcing your position until the issue is corrected to your satisfaction.

I really dislike posts where the OP doesn't come back.  The same thing happened to me on Celebrity.  I ignored the emails and never called customer service. Not one question was asked at check in.

I really dislike jerks that bash someone and then don't come back an apologize for being wrong,

Interesting rant considering that the OP has come back several times already with updates.

I am dealing with that same issue.  A misapplied gc was debited three times so I went from a zero balance to owing $1000.  My final payment date was extended to my sailing date while they figure it out. I am going to patiently wait until the end of the month until I start calling again.

Hopefully it will work out as well as ours. We only had $150 in play, so I went ahead and paid it (and got a refund of the $150 to my CC about 4 days before the cruise), but I'm not sure I could stomach laying out $1,000 under those conditions.

I made a statement, which was true at the time it was posted.  Whether you agreed or disagreed is irrelevant.  My post may have been premature but a sentence is hardly a rant and I didn't resort to name calling.  As other have pointed out I should have given the OP more time to respond.  I see the OP has come back and provided an update.  It's nice everything worked out and there were no issues at the pier.   Happy cruising to you.

A rant rationalized is still a rant. You may want to go back and re read your statement word by word - and oh by the way, calling someone a "jerk" in any conversation on this planet qualifies as "name calling"

I did not rationalize anything and do need to re-read what I wrote.  It wasn't a rant.  Calling someone a  "jerk" is name calling if it's not the person's name.  My feelings are not hurt.  I will not lose any sleep or anything by the use of the word or any other you may choose to use.  As I said, happy cruising.

So my drama continues.

So I get an email for a credit of an entire drink package.

Come to find out, when I repriced the room for a lower fee they took away some OBC I had. I used the OBC ($75) to purchase the beverage package.

They canceled my DBP, but my wife still has hers.

I called to get it figured out and this is what they told me.

We had to cancel 1 beverage package because you used OBC of $75 and when you repriced you lost the OBC.

So I was like ok that is fine, I would like to rebook package at the price  I originally paid for. After 2 hours of going back and forth and being hung up on 2 times. they said no SORRY we cant do that.

So I guess I found the new hack on how to get 1 DBP per state room. And not have to purchase another one. :classic_biggrin::classic_sad:.

So needless to say I now have to wait for it to drop price again to purchase, but the most ridiculous thing is they gave me $100 of OBC I never had or even entitled too.

So aggravated. Oh and somehow they still have my wife's C&A numbers messed up. If I were not in need of a cruise ASAP and taking my parent's with , I would have canceled.

Fortunately, only you have to live with you. The rest of the world is free to ignore morally  superior  posers. Have a nice life on your own planet.

No idea how RCI manages to make that take a two hour phone call.

They have tons of brand new staff and they are mostly offshore resources, they can only handle very simple inquiries and everything else has to be escalated to the resolutions desk which means very long calls.

This actually makes sense to me.   Not saying I totally agree with it, but it makes sense.

I’m sorry to see others are sharing my leaky boat. It’s very hard to anticipate a cruise with excitement when RCI keeps changing your zero balance to a debit without letting me know.
I caught it this time by calling for a new confirmation.
I  enjoy sailing on Royal Caribbean, but losing sleep and being frazzled for two weeks makes it hard to be loyal to Royal.

Onboard.  All went well getting on, but a couple of my purchase (casita and teppanyaki) were not in the system despite clearly having receipts and them being posted in my order history.  Took a few days for the folks onboard to work with corporate to figure it out.  I swear the first guest services person treated me like I created a fake website or something when I showed my order history.  Have to believe this whole pile of stuff is part of the same big computer glitch on royals part.  I did get an apology from the beverage manager onboard who runs the casita rentals.  All good on the end.

This has me a bit worried.  I have Cruise Planner purchases that I have email confirmations for but they aren't showing in my Order History.  RC cannot figure out why and say there's nothing they can do but that the purchases show on their system.

I am having an issue with purchases too.  It started with transferring my GD (granddaughter) to another cabin with DS.  They cancelled her excursion (at the Black Friday price).  I purchased the same excursion for DS in his cabin.  I had to repurchase GD excursion in DS's cabin using obc.  However, the cruise planner showed DS excursion in my cabin & his cabin.  No GD excursion.  I told my TA & she said RCI told her it was "wonky" but they would fix it in about a day or 2.  It has been 5 days now & DS has been canceled with a refund for 1 but nothing shows up for him in cruise planner in either cabin.  However, obc has not been credited with a refund.  I'm getting so frustrated because it shows that excursion is now sold out!

We got our cleared up at GS but they had to contact accounting.  Just a PITA.  Sad as i tried to resolve it through casino royale,  rci and three or 4 useless calls prior and still wound up with a delayed boarding,  visit to GS etc….

clear it up before you board or you will be directed to the loser counter and screw up your boarding is my advice.

Having the same issue with our April 15th cruise.   Raise is paid in full, but received an email stating we have an outstanding balance.  Online it shows we are paid.  I called and was told it’s paid in full but then was told for some reason it’s showing a balance of $14.  The rep does not know why and had put a ticket in to get it fixed.  I am calling again this week to see if it’s been rectified.  Very frustrating

They will never restore the purchase at the price you paid.  You always get the current price.  Not sure why the cannot do this, but it is RCI IT involved.

A while back, somehow they got my ex-wife (we did one cruise) and my GF (4 cruises) C&A accounts mixed up.  They credited my ex with the cruises my GF did, and had the C&A account numbers and names mixed up.

It took my ex about 4 hours on the phone to get her account straightened out and and only showing her one cruise. To fix my GF's account, it took several hours and in the end, they had to create a whole new account (new number) for her.

THEN, we had FCC issued for a COVID canceled cruise.  We have the emails where it was issued to my GF, who was on the reservation.  But then, all of a sudden, my ex's name is on the FCC, so our TA could not apply it to our upcoming cruise.

I called, and the C&A desk was able to credit it without the name matching.

BIZARRE.

Knew a guy who for years went round and round with the IRS as he kept getting a tax due notice for $0.00.  He would call the tax service reps who confirmed his account showed $0.00 due and they couldn't figure out why he was getting these very stressful notices threatening criminal action if the amount due was not paid.  After about 4 years of this, he finally sent in a check for $0.00.  He later received a letter from the IRS thanking him for paying his balance due of $0.00 and never received another letter from the IRS.  Go figure...

This is why some companies will not issue refunds or call collections for $2 or less.

Because there is a cost to process the payment.  So why try to collect $2, when doing so costs you $10?

This is making me nervous about our May cruise. We have a zero balance, yet the "pay remaining balance" button continues to show on my cruise planner. The last thing I want to do is be on the ohone for an hour + to get this resolved, but I also don't want to be receiving emails threatening to cancel our cruise when the PIF date arrives.
