cruiz2018 Posted May 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2022 (edited) The family would like to go on a cruise on the enchantment of the seas to Bermuda/Bahamas out of Baltimore. We are all vaccinated and will get a booster if applicable before travel date. I have been reading up on cruises in the news and seeing the following. Would like to hear thoughts (1) some fine print on Bermuda cruises...I assume this will be a requirement (not optional): https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/additional-requirements-to-cruise-to-bermuda#:~:text=We recommend guests apply for,a negative COVID-19 result. (2) im seeing recent news about Princess and Carnival having outbreaks, but not so much RC. Anyone have a serious outbreak on an RC cruise (especially EOTS) that is not being reported? Was it handled well? Did it really suck to be isolated? What happens if they run out of isolation rooms? (3) Would they leave you at a port if you try to check on the ship and have covid? Just read about a couple in spain that was dumped in Spain....horrible story https://www.kktv.com/2022/04/27/couple-stranded-spain-after-testing-positive-covid-cruise/ (4) If there is a large outbreak, what is the policy for people who arent sick? Will they shut down the pool, entertainment, etc? (5) I read somewhere (cant find the source) that there are fewer evening shows/events. We have been accustomed to and my wife loves the cruises because of the really nice magic shows, music performances, and comedy acts every night. Not sure if because of cost-cutting issues due to fewer people traveling and $1.2B in losses by RC, inflation, or something else. Is this still an issue? What should we expect about evening shows? Can we see what events are planned are typically available on the EOTS? (6) Is there anything else that we should expect to be different than pre-covid cruise travel? Biker19 Posted May 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2022 1. Yes, until RCI changes the requirements. 2. All RCI ships have some cases, can’t generalize how it will be handled. 3. Generally you can’t get on the ship without a negative test. 4. See 2 5. That may be true but again varies by ship and even sailing. All shows on Enchantment should be listed in the app (on current sailing. 6. Be ready for anything.
Rare 1025cruise Posted May 22, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2022 Right now going to Bermuda requires a travel authorization, though the rules have changed yesterday. You aren't boarding without a negative test. If you test positive, don't waste your time going to the port.

Do they test at the ports when you come back on?

pcur Posted May 22, 2022 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2022 If you test positive on the ship, they quarantine you on the ship, providing meals, etc. until you test negative and/or reach home port.

Merion_Mom Posted May 22, 2022 #11 Share Posted May 22, 2022 If you are making an application or have made an application for travel after May 24, 2022: 1. All passengers MUST have an approved Bermuda Travel Authorisation (TA) before arriving at the terminal. 2. Failing to apply for and receive an approved TA at least 2 weeks prior to travel will result in delayed boarding for you and your party. 3. All you need to do is fill in the application, upload your vaccination card and pay $40 by credit card. You will receive your approved document by email. 4. You must show your approved Travel Authorisation at embarkation, along with your negative COVID-19 test result, even if you have already uploaded it.
Sunshine3601 Posted May 22, 2022 #12 Share Posted May 22, 2022 As far Enchantment. You must test negative before you can board the ship. No other testing is administered during the cruise for fully vaccinated adults. If you feel ill once onboard they ask you to contact medical and they will test you. If positive you quarantine in what is called the red zone. No, they do not dump you off at a foreign port unless you need medical care that cannot be provided onboard. Entertainment is available on all ships, unless the entertainers test positive and have to quarantine. All staff, crew, entertainers. Etc are tested weekly. Check the app to see what entertainment is available on current sailings. For sailings to Bermuda, you must register for the Bermuda travel authorization and pay $40 pp 2 weeks prior to your sail date. Rules keep changing so stay tuned to CC and the Royal family website.

While you do upload your vax record and passport information, @Sunshine3601your test results are not uploaded. But the online check in, other than for assigning a boarding time, is more of a convenience than a requirement as all of the above documentation - vax record, boarding ID, and test results - are required to be shown at check in at the terminal, previously uploaded or not. I was responding to pcur about the Bermuda travel authorization no longer requiring test results to be uploaded. Yes, separate process for royal check in.
