who to notify if we test positive at the end of a cruise?

Enjoyed (we were with friends) all but the last night of a recent Equinox voyage. Last night I had shivvers (assumed it was COVID) and stayed in the cabin until departure (wore N95). Who should I notify at Celebrity (in case they want to look for close contacts)? Or is it a waste of time and they do nothing with the information? Not looking for reimbursement...

Basically if it is the last night  of the cruise it would be a waste of time as they wouldn't bother contact tracking.    When we tested positive we had to isolate one day and then escorted off the ship with a team that looked like Ghost Busters. We  had  N95 masks on but the gangway was right into the regular terminal full of passengers.

Thanks, Jim. I just wanted to be responsible 🙂

I won't worry about it. Appreciate the response.

Since Equinox turn around day was yesterday I made the recommendations on the assumption you had symptoms late at night just before turn around and didn't go out or have dinner etc.

If you or I had symptoms earlier in the day I would have reported so I could be tested and stay in the room for meals.    At least for us the only thing they did for contact tracing was asked if we were traveling with anyone.    Since you are off the ship they definitely aren't interested.

You are correct. As soon as I felt symptoms I stayed in my cabin and put on my mask (wife has not felt bad or tested positive since; neither has our traveling partners - here's to hoping it stays that way). Only left the cabin to exit the ship (masked).

Nobody. Just carry on.

Actually I *would* let Celebrity know. While they likely wouldn't try to contact others from activities, etc., they would need to know because of the crew you had most interaction with - your stateroom host and your servers. They would want to increase testing - and potentially isolate them - for the stateroom host(s) and servers since those crew members would have had the most contact to do their best to prevent the crew members exposing cruisers.

At least that (I know from personal experience - someone I was with tested positive and our servers got increased testing) is what is done on another cruise line. I'd *hope* they would all be as proactive.

The original posts stated that they assume they have Covid but I don’t a follow up where there was a test to confirm that self assessment.   Seems like a what if situation without a validation of actually having Covid.

Gotcha. I missed that.

Well, if they DO test and it's positive, they should let Celebrity know. People not notifying is how it spread on some ships early on before the shutdown - they thought they were clean, but servers came down with it (and had spread it to their guests, etc.) because someone they had served the cruise before tested positive the day after the cruise but didn't bother to let the cruiseline know. Her friend posted on another forum the following week "Do you think we should let them know?"

I did confirm the suspicion with a positive test. But Celebrity doesn't provide a method to reasonably contact them. I did mention it in the post-cruise survey, so they have the information.

You did the best you could with what was available to you at the time.  Though Celebrity is not going to do a thing with the information you provided.

This is what I did last month when I tested positive the day I arrived home from Equinox. Started to feel crummy the last day, but tested negative. I brought my own test. 24 hours later, I tested positive.

I agree, the info will go nowhere, but I mentioned it on the survey since they asked about Healthy Cruising communication information (or some similar wording). I said something to the effect that, since you asked, nowhere did I see or hear recommendations about social distancing, hygiene, etc. I let them know my test results.

I get that we are all tired of hearing about it all, but since I got Covid after vax, boost, and 6 healthy cruises, it is clearly not gone away.

Mild case, BTW, I have come home from cruises with a much worse URI.

Grateful for all the jabs.

I discovered that the Navica ap for the covid pre-test recommended by Celebrity has a place to self report a positive or negative result. Doesn't have to be monitored or even one of theirs. It's probably collected and reported to government agencies. Maybe.

Tell your mother, she’s probably the only person that really cares.  Once you’re off the ship,Celebrity doesn’t care.

It does.    I had a positive test with Navica and within 5 minutes of my test I had a text and email from my local county health department on what to do and a contact tracing questionnaire (not real helpful when your overseas) .     They are in no way connected to Celebrity.

Yep, that’s the official company line but I don’t believe it.   If Celebrity really cared wouldn’t they make publicize that information as part of the Covid protocols?

Once we and our $$$ are off the ship, if you really believe they give a rats a** about you, your next stop should be to buy some ocean front property in Arizona.  It’s a game of smoke and mirrors folk$.

That sounds like RCI and not Celebrity.  Have friends who have sailed both.  RCI unceremoniously dumped them on the pier while Celebrity provided assistance throughout.  Also, Celebrity takes cleanliness and mask wearing by crew more seriously than RCI.

I agree with you.  If Celebrity wanted to be informed of passengers testing positive after they are off the ship they would include a phone # or email  established for notification.  DH tested positive 2 days after we disembarked.  i couldn't find a phone # for that purpose, called one of the Captains Club numbers and after holding for 2+ hours gave up.
