ALWAYS CRUZIN Posted June 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2022 In an announcement to his Facebook page on Friday, June 24, 2022, Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald said, “On cruises starting today we will return to having the Diamond Lunch/Event and Diamond and Platinum VIFP Party.” 1
evandbob Posted June 24, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2022 Personally, I welcome the Diamond lunch or get together with the Captain and officers, since I do enjoy talking about our Italian Grandmothers with many of Carnival's Captains! There were hardly any tidbits to eat at the last half dozen P&D parties I attended, so they kind of lost any appeal to me as a non drinker. I realize this will not be the attitude of most P&D's!!

It does include the Officers get together. Drinks and meet the captain.
jamie717 Posted June 24, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2022 I turn Platinum on our upcoming cruise however, due to a couple of "Girls Cruises" my husband isn't quite there yet. My question is, are our spouses allowed to join or do we attend alone?

Absolurely, My wife and I are plat and we've been joined by my sister in our cabin on the past five cruises and those plat/diamond parties, so they'll let him in as your 'guest'. 'Sides, that'll give a chance to hold it over him, next time yall have a good natured' teasing arguement. 😄 Mac

We have been on six cruises since the start up, and we have attended every Diamond event, and not once has the Captain been there, which is probably a good thing. Haven't seen one at the Platinum / Diamond VIFP party either. Edited June 24, 2022 by Jamman54 1
Hoosierpop Posted June 24, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 24, 2022 I think I somehow messed up getting my free platinum drink on my last 2 cruises. Maybe because my first drink was in the casino and already free and the system didn’t realize it was already comped? Anyway, I like the parties. Don’t really care if I meet the captain.

When the got rid of the platinum party, they added in a drink. My wife got hers. I didn’t. But it wasn’t a big deal because I had the drinks in the casino. would rather have the party. 1

DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted June 25, 2022 #13 Share Posted June 25, 2022 Platinum parties are not quite the same now that they are so crowded and now that we have the Cheers package. We used to enjoy dancing at those parties and now there is no dancing.

elklemi Posted June 26, 2022 #15 Share Posted June 26, 2022 Just off the Elation and last month had the P/D party and this week received the two drink voucher. If I had a choice I would accept the two drink voucher and be happy with that. At least I got to experience that once.
cruisemom67 Posted June 26, 2022 #16 Share Posted June 26, 2022 My daughter went in March and had the platinum party. The free seaday drinks are in ADDITION. Even gold gets free drink coupon. I think Gold gets to use them anytime, while platinum just gets them during seaday brunch. I don't drink early (I would nap the day away if I did), so I take the wine and pour it back in to my empty bottle I already drank from carryon.

My mom and I went to P/D party and sat in the back in the cheap seats. Waiters kept coming by with drinks and brought my mom a chocolate drink that she wanted to try. Sorry you didn't have fun.

Rare ledges1 Posted June 27, 2022 #22 Share Posted June 27, 2022 Prefer the two free drinks anytime. I hope they do something to improve the gatherings. They are getting old and predictable. Watching the video and cheering needs to be updated to something new and more enjoyable. The last few I went to were rushed.

ALWAYS CRUZIN Posted July 2, 2022 Author #24 Share Posted July 2, 2022 Just returned from the Liberty 5 dayer. Had the Diamond get together in the Piano man location. About 15 attended and any drink and as many as you wanted plus some nice hors d'oeuveres. Great conversation. Was our 50th carnival cruise. It was nice. 1

Diamond gathering was also in the piano bar. There were around 25 people there, but I am sure some were guests of Diamonds, as they were in family groups of 4. Same things you had on Liberty. It was pleasant.
