List of unpublished Yacht Club Perks

Hello Cruisers,

in preparation for an upcoming Yacht Club cruise, I am reading through older topics trying to compile a list of perks, benefits, possibilities or just things offered to yacht club guests that are not part of the MSC website or officially published information. Yes, I am aware that things have changed with corona but so slowly things seem to return to normal and so I hope to benefit from the experience of yacht club cruisers before me.

So, please please please, feel free to add all perks you might have experienced in yacht club that other cruisers just might have not thought of asking for.

So, what have I found:

RudiRatlos on Preziosa: Pizza in La Locanda is free for YC

Phissy: Small cups of gelato on sundeck in the afternoon

No1talks: YC dining room prepares meal request with a days notice if possible
Any examples what can be requested?

Myself: Bar&Grill on YC Sun Deck can deliver freshly made burgers with fries
Anything else you can order fresh at the YC sun deck?
Paphillyguy: No more Lobster offered anymore

Can’t remember: Does anyone have a list which newspapers are offered for YC guests?

Morgsmom: In YC you can split a laundry package

Every addition is much appreciated.

Thank you very much.

MSC is a bit too inconsistent when it comes to amenities to make an accurate list.

Things differ from ship to ship, itinerary to itinerary, butler to butler, YC director to YC director, etc.

You’ve got that right.

The whole point of all these unadvertised things is that they are completely ad hoc depending on the YC director or other YC staff at the time. Part of the wow factor of YC is being surprised by the unexpected little touches that don't seem happen on every cruise or every ship.

I see that you mentioned that lobster is no longer served, if you are talking about in the YC restaurant, they had it one night for dinner on Virtuosa last month.

Just like NCL Haven, there is a list but things can vary widely.  IMO, Haven over advertises, under delivers, and over charges.  MSC delivers in YC most things and more.  I would just go with the flow.

The couple things advertised but nobody here seems to have seen is the escorted shopping and special excursions but who really needs that anyway?

I thought that at first also.  However, now I think he means no longer delivered on the YC sun deck.  Otherwise, I don't think no lobster is a perk.😒

No  I  was talking about the grilled lobster on the YC pool deck.  We were told that they were not offering that anymore.  On the Seashore

Had lobster last week on Wednesday night of a 7 day cruise that started on Saturday. Thursday on pool deck (sea day) there was seafood extravaganza were scallops, shrimp (8-10 size), lobster tails were grilled and maitre d was making fresh pasta dishes.

Truffle oil chips in YC lounge. Though they ran out last week on 3rd day and it is still not replenished. There is also Wasabi flavored chips but those are also out. Just ask butler what chips are available.

You can order a burger and fries delivered to YC room even though it is not listed on the room delivery list. My son and I ordered at 1130pm a few nights.

Able to goto the different dining rooms and eat off their menu if the YC menu does not suite you.

Elevator over ride has been disabled on Seashore.

Do you have to have the Concierge make reservations in the dining room?  I read somewhere that "Italian Night" in the MDR is not to be missed.

Too bad about the over ride on the elevator.  We did it a few times.  (Sorry, I am an evil person😈.)

We always do Italian night in the main dining room. Just have the YC concierge call & make a reservation for you there in the morning.

I tend to find the YC dining room a bit stuffy at times. In the main ding room, especially on Italian night, the waiters all dress up & dance around. They blare Italian music & have simpler Italian food dishes. ....love it

That was my experience and it was a refreshing change for me.

I talked to a few couples that said they went to one of the MDR restaurants and they were accommodated.  I do not know if it was Italian night though.

On Seashore there is one larger dining room then a few smaller ones u like Seaside.

I admit that I am impatient and loved using the elevator feature.

YC director Robert Balla I believe has been on every new ship for MSC USA as YC director. He will be leaving Seashore soon and going to Seascape. He has IMHO directed a wonderful staff that is very intent on customer service and satisfaction.

Not sure about the size of the rooms, but Seashore lists four MDR's (more than Seashore which had two buffets but often closed one to serve as location for seating for evening dining).  It does include the larger two Central Park, and Tribecca, and the somewhat smaller 5th Avenue, and Manhattan restaurants.).  They weren't all open when we sailed for two weeks earlier this year, and we were quite happy in YC so didn't try moving.

On the elevator situation, you mentioned that MSC disabled the system.  In this case, the override system was never installed.  MSC put in a new system for control, where all passengers enter the floor they want, and and are then notified what car to get on.  Our butler told us that the system is designed to give preference to selection of YC floors within the front elevator banks, but it didn't really match up to our experience.  I must say, I did like the system in that it reduced people rushing to get on any car that opened.

As I've read here from others and experienced myself 3 weeks ago on Preziosa, the old system, where you put your YC card to get priority, only worked in maybe one of three or four rides (as reliable as MSC land-based service, one may think...)

No big issue with 1.600 pax on a fantasia class ship, but also not really helpful.

The new system, avoiding elevators stopping at each deck in a row or going empty from deck 4 to 14, may improve the situation for all passengers.

Found forward elevators more 'receptive' when on decks 6,7,8 and wish to go to deck 19 YC.  One of the perks of low capacity sailings. We moved to deck 16 YC on subsequent sailings and found elevators not as 'receptive' perhaps due to two 2 factors: increased passengers (double 1500 to 3000) and the fact that deck 16 is also the ship's buffet. There are occasions when the buffet is the only venue open for general population and getting an empty elevator is a 'long shot'. We begin walking up the stairs and trying another floor.
