Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted June 30, 2022 #26 Share Posted June 30, 2022 Upper level suite guests are met curbside by pier side hosts who escort them thru the embarkations process, and once checked-in, a Retreat representative escorts the guest on to the ship. The hosts have this information to recognize, and personally welcome the guests to the pier, and on to the ship.

Some used the interactive TV system. They did that on my “E” ship sailings. Everything was done on the TV, and all we had to do is show up and have our key card scanned showing we knew where to go in case of an emergency. Took all of 5 seconds. MAtter of fact, I don’t think we actually went into the Muster Station. We actually had our key card scanned outside the doors of the muster area after we had viewed the safety drill on our TV. I've been on 3 M-class sailings in suites since the restart, and the muster station alwas has been in the Rendezvous Lounge.

Or, just make Micheal's the muster station for the suite guests. We were in a Signature Suite on Reflection back in February, and Michael's was not our muster station. It was the photo gallery. That may have something to do with the Signature and Reflection Suites being forward. I have no idea where the muster station was for the rest of the suites. I don't remember where mine were, either. I do know I checked in and got my card scanned outside the venues, which took about 5 seconds. This was done after I had viewed the safety video. Cruise lines have really streamlined the Muster Drill and made it as simple as possible. Which befuddles me why they still have to chase people down to complete the check in process. It really couldn't be easier. I know my last Royal Cruise, they would not serve a drink to anyone who had not viewed the safety video and had their cards scanned at their designated muster location.

Where did you tumble to that bit of information? It was confirmed to us by suite-related staff on previous cruises that certain staff get names and photos of suite guests before embarkation. That’s how top notch suite service can start at minute 1 of your cruise.

We were travelling in a RS 5/6 years ago and at check in line for suites , someone from the counter came to us and checked us in. The suite concierge Megan was waiting to escort us onboard its was our first RS and cruise out of Dubai, so Yes it does happen
wrk2cruise Posted July 1, 2022 #33 Share Posted July 1, 2022 In the Retreat Lounge we have many times discussed the "mug shots" with the bartender. They have them hanging in the pantry.

One thing that particularly impressed us was that they had not only names but also allergies, dietary restrictions, etc.

The last check-in photos I took on my phone had us looking like a couple of fugitives on the run. Surprised anyone recognized us!

Now that I'm taking those photos from my kitchen table, they ain't so pretty. If I look that bad before I board, I shudder to think how I look when I'm coming off the ship at the end! We had an issue with the Premium Drink pkg that was not given to our adult son in our suite so when we made a visit just after boarding to get that corrected they learned all our names real fast and remembered us for the rest of the cruise and would call us by name when they saw us other places on the ship. We are going on July 15th what is the concierge name now. This is third time and got to know them well. If you have not spoil yourself it's great. But don't forget to be polite and not abuse them or throw it in non suite guest like some elitist that we have seen.

They already use all available space, including the Photo Gallery on the S Class ships. There are legal requirements that can’t be avoided. It isn't changed. We have had it as a Muster Station on other cruises. Currently it has no impact because all passengers are doing Muster station Check in on their phones or TV. In the "Old days" when they did the actual full muster Retreat was packed - they removed the glass tops to the wood stumps to make additional seating bu about 1/4 of the room was standing. It would be really packed.

We left the Solstice this morning after spending two weeks onboard. Suite manager is Joana. The Retreat/MC concierges are Janet and Marcela.
