I always start each morning of my cruises taking a moment on the veranda to reflect on just how fortunate I am to have the means and opportunity to cruise and see the world beyond the shores of my home country.  Today I’m also so grateful to have officially been blessed with another full year of life, health, loving family and wonderful friends.

Those of us who have discovered cruising, and love it, should truly realize how lucky we are!

Happy Birthday and cheers to another blessed year.

GenerationX, thanks for another live cruise report series!

I just put in a request with my local library for the Captain Lee book to read on our upcoming Alaska cruise.

Keep the Blu reports coming. Has DH tried any of the Blu specialty drinks?

Thank you!  Jeremy actually had 2 of the Blu cocktails last night. The Garden Breezes and the Nightfall Elixir.  I got a pic of the garden breezes but he drank the elixir so fast that I missed my chance!  He said he liked both but preferred the Nightfall Elixir.

I just finished my birthday massage and am having some white peach ginger pear tea at Al Bacio.

After breakfast in Blu, I did a 75 minute aromatherapy hot stone massage. My masseuse Lyn was very thorough and included a cellulite body brush treatment and oil essential oil scalp massage.  It was incredibly relaxing and the perfect way to start my day.  I think I’ll start trying to get my spa appointment times in the morning from now on.

On my way down from the spa  I passed through the once again completely full pool deck where a bumpin poolside Zumba class was in full swing.

There were a few tables open for sit down at Al Bacio, but the line of people waiting to order to go drinks is all the way back into the shops area.  I’ve noticed generally on this sailing, bars have been slammed and drink service has taken a while.

I was chatting with one of the servers and he told me that the ship sailed full capacity of passengers, but short of bar staff. I remember thinking last night that it seemed like every bar I’ve been to really should have at least 1-2 more crew members  to keep up with the level of demand I’m seeing.  The crew who are here though really are trying their best to work at lightning speed and accommodate everyone and they’re remaining upbeat the whole time and apologizing for the delays.

If you’re sailing soon, please remember to pack your best patience skills and remember that the crew who are here can’t help that they’re understaffed.  Sadly I’ve seen a couple situations where people grumpy about their wait for a frozen cocktail have taken it out on their servers in a terrible way.

My husband, who is not one to hold his tongue when he sees the crew being mistreated by other guests, almost got himself locked in the brig yesterday after seeing a man get right in the face of a much smaller young Filipino woman doing her best to keep up with poolside drink orders while wearing a KN95 in blazing sun and heat.

After tea my husband is going to go try and get lucky in the casino again and I’m going to go see my buddy Genesis in Cellar Masters for a glass of Pinot Noir.  It’s acceptability to start drinking red wine at noon on a Tuesday on your birthday, right?

Happy, Happy Birthday Charla!!!  You celebrate your "0" birthday all year!!!  The "0" birthdays are even way more special!  I know I am celebrating my "0" birthday this whole year!  Life goes by so fast!  I told my family, friends, and neighbors same thing but mine was the big 60 last month!  Live it up!  Love your style, your reviews, love that you love to cruise like the rest of us!  Hopefully Bill and I will be on a cruise with you and Jereme and of course Gen Z someday.  You really helped us get excited for our first Celebrity cruise on July 10th on the Equinox in the retreat!  It was spectacular!  We are going on the Equinox again on August 13th in the Aqua balcony to try the Blue restaurant and persian garden!  By chance are you on the April 16th 2023 Beyond?  Hope you book it!  Would love to meet you and your family!  Enjoy this super special cruise!!!

Michelle

I've seen a lot of people complaining about wait times. It seems most ships are at or almost at full capacity while they are still trying to get enough staff. Sure everyone wants things instantly but waiting for a drink is not the worst thing, you are on holiday there is no rush.

I'm going in expecting to wait, I rather wait for a drink on holiday than not be on holiday. And these servers are working long hours, away from family and yes hot and in a mask.

Happy Birthday Charla! Have a great day celebrating!

The Nightfall Elixir looks to be my go to drink in Blu, but of course I will try all the Blu specialty drinks during our upcoming cruise.

Hi Carla I’m on the cruise with you and happily met you after you came from the spa. So glad you are having a fantastic birthday.
just wanted to comment if you didn’t already that all crew are back to wearing masks again. They were able to go without them for a short time frame but are now back to wearing them again.  I was told by crew that staff were getting sick when the masks came off! Like you Carla I am also very disappointed and surprised that they went back to self serve given the unsanitary habits of some cruisers. Your story about the guy with the bacon is really not good. I carry my hand sanitizer with me and use it before touching my food. Being in the health field I’ve always been super cautious about germs and bacteria so I try to be careful. I want to keep on cruising but without getting Covid.
and yes the ship is crowded  with long lines for just about everything but the crew are doing  their best to keep things moving with a smile and a great attitude.Patience is key here. Tomorrow Bermuda!
