Bummer - looks like you are not heading up river - probably because you were a little late getting away. Not sure why but the Captain just headed straight out. CrzLvr2 Posted August 7, 2022 #332 Share Posted August 7, 2022 Hi Jim & Iain, I thought you might like these screenshots I took of your sailaway. As you can see from the time stamps, your captain wasted no time heading out of the harbor! Too bad the camera is on Staten Island, so there was no view of your cabin. Best wishes for fair winds and following seas for your B3B. As always, I look forward to reading your reviews. They're always so wonderful, witty, and detailed. Sue The ship seems to be listing a bit while making the turn? Unfortunately, an oil tanker? blocked most of the view of the Summit passing under the bridge. 6

Too bad we didn't get to have a close up visit to Lady Liberty. It looked like the harbor was really busy.

Took GenX an hour to reach the bridge when they departed at 4 pm and went up past the SoL first and they were going much slower. Enjoy your evening. I checked my photos from the 7/17 sailing. 4:59 we were under the Verrazzano from my photo time stamp. 4:21 I was taking photos of Lady Liberty/sailaway from the helipad, then we had a proposal and then back to SOL photos... 🙂 Bernadette

Rare Jim_Iain Posted August 8, 2022 Author #341 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Settling in to a new room is always both fun and full of work. We met out Room Attendant, Apollo and our Suite Host, Alexander. Both really nice and helpful in getting everything together. Honestly I'm going to stop wasting my time with the Shoreside Concierge as nothing got through to them with my regular requests. Nothing big and they took care of them quickly. I just have a few standard requests. 2 Isotonic pillows, an extension cord, a booking for Tuscan on the first night and swap the Champagne to Chardonnay. All were taken care of efficiently and Mar, the Retreat Host got us into Tuscan. Being a long cruise I decided to purchase Iain a Premium Bar Setup with Grey goose. Alexander even being on the ship for 7 months had never heard of one so said he would sort out. In the late afternoon a knock came at the door and the Grey goose was delivered by the Bar Manager. Just one problem yet to sort out. Our room was absolutely freezing to the point I had to put a sweater on. Alexander had maintenance look at it when we were at dinner and when we returned the thermostat was finally working and we could control the temps. Especially on a cold weather cruise we wanted to make sure we had heat.

Lesson learned: need to bring additional sweaters and shawls - even on Carib cruise! DH needed his thermals lol

Hope you get to do it. Incredible views. On 8/6/2022 at 8:40 PM, Benthayer Gonbak said: There used to be ship tours that went there, on was a van which was a nicer trip. Thanks. Although I usually don't do so, for Cadillac Mountain I did book a ship excursion. It's not too long, but does go to the top of the mountain, and gets back into town early enough for some exploring.
