Is royal up only determined a few days before sailing?

Guessing how the algorithm works is pointless. No one knows some special strategy. Anything that has worked is purely anecdotal.

Don't gamble in the casino except our free $6 credit on every sailing. Rather gamble on RoyalUp inside my home without the  cigarette smoke inside a casino. Any feedback on RoyalUp helps.

Pretty clear to me.

You wrote it; I’d hope so. I’m lost but if you don’t want to fill me in, doesn’t matter to me.

Hope you win your RoyalUp. I just put one  in myself for a cruise 41 days out.

Our sailing is 9/24 and the roll call on another place (that cannot be mentioned) is blowing up with people reporting on successful RoyalUp bids.  We bid from Jr Suite to all four available "real" suites.  We still haven't heard and all bids are showing as submitted only though our son and daughter-in-law received their acceptance today.

We sailed on the Anthem June 17th and got awarded our Owners Suite upgrade on May 23rd.

That’s awesome. For our upcoming cruise (Symphony), we were notified 17 days prior (OB to CL)…pretty excited.  If we ever cross paths, I’ll buy ya a drink and we’ll chat airplanes.

I looked at Royal up for next cruise. To upgrade was actually cheaper than the current Royal up bid for said cabin so I just upgraded at a fraction of the cost. Current bids are, I believe based against what others have bid, so worth keeping eye on last minute price drops to see if cheaper to just call and upgrade yourself. YMMV.

Huh?

S/He avoids the casino because of the smoke, and only plays the free $6 in the slot machine.  S/He would rather gamble on a RoyalUp bid, in the comfort of his/her own home.

I received my denial email from Royal Up after 8 pm...after sail away.

Now that ships are back to full capacity, they really need to let pax know if their bid was successful before they board.  Who wants to pack up again in the middle of the night and have to move again?

I got an email on September 2nd 2 days before our 7 night cruise on Anthem.

I was informed our bid was unsuccessful but might be successful once we boarded so we could either increase our bids or withdraw our bids.

I received another email around 2pm on boarding day saying our bids were unsuccessful.

What does that have to do with anything I previously said in this thread? That’s my source of confusion.

Did you not get the message a day or so before the cruise saying your bid is currently unsuccessful and will be passed to the ship in case there's a chance for a late upgrade? We had that for our recent Anthem trip last month. That gives you the choice to go and cancel all your bids if a late post-boarding upgrade is not what you want.

We just got that message for upcoming cruise!  I am still hopeful but have no idea what the odds are.

Anytime, I am always flying into Tampa North for Breakfast.

Just so you all know, checking your email incessantly once you submit your bid(s) 45+ days out, all day, every day, does not speed up the process!  I'm still waiting.  Only 24 more days to go! 😜

Incessantly refreshing the RoyalUp page that lists your bids works much better in my experience.

Does logging into my credit card account all the time to see if the charge has "hit" count?

Back in March, we did not get the "sorry, you did not win" e-mail until Day 3 of the cruise. Well, duhhhh. We have talked to several folks that did not know they had won until they checked-in and was given a different room number than what they expected (or had on their luggage tags).

So I have seen several references like the one above to upgrading (as opposed to Royal Up bidding for an upgrade).  Yet I can't find any reference at all to available upgrades for our Nov. 12 cruise after signing in on the RC website and on the app. Is it still too early, or is there someplace else to look that I' need to know about?

Similarly, I've seen references in comments to looking through room inventory to see exactly how many grand suites, junior suites, balconies, etc. are still available. Where/when is that information available?

Thanks for any advice or pointers.

The website says it could happen anytime after bidding but I've been waiting for months and my guess is that they wait until the last possible moment to assign new cabins so that Royal Caribbean makes the maximum profit with full fare cruisers rather than Royal Up bidders.

Been waiting for 2 months now ever since I bid.  But no joy!  Yet!  But there are tell tale signs.  For instance on my upcoming Grandeur, there are only 7 inside cabins left at all. All categories sold out. I bid on a Spacious Ocean View cabin and those haven't been available since before I bid...so obviously all 16 of these rooms in the center of deck 7 & 8 Port and Starboard were given to the Royal Up program unless some were previously booked.  That leads me to believe I have a chance of getting one since my bid is still in the cancel/modify status.  But it's next week.  Hope I find out soon.  We leave for southern climes on Wednesday.
