Hopefully this storm will fizz out and or change directions and not affect the sailing.

Tropical Storm Orlene forms off Mexico’s Pacific coast:

MEXICO CITY (AP) 9/29/22— Tropical Storm Orlene formed off Mexico’s Pacific coast Thursday and was forecast to strengthen to a hurricane before making a projected landfall early next week.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Orlene had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 kmh) and was moving west-northwest at 10 mph (17 kmh). It forecast that Orlene would become a hurricane Friday night.

The storm was centered about 290 miles (465 km) south-southwest of Manzanillo. While still days away, landfall was expected to be in Mexico’s Sinaloa state.

Oooops!

I’ve seen them filming and I don’t find it intrusive. At the champagne waterfall last night they had them wait until all passengers had done it first.

The weather has been crazy nice. Hard to believe it’s all going to get crazy. So far my balcony above the bridge has been usable 24/7. Just a light breeze

a juvenile masked boobie is flying above eyeballing my coissant

That is really not good. Princess needs to step it up if they want to compete. NCL's higher-end package includes BOTTLEs of good wine (including Veuve). We definitely got our money's worth in July! I hope it is just supply chain issues, and that our November and December Princess cruises are worth the upgrade.

Agreed - the NCL upgraded package is well worth the extra charge. I also love that NCL has no limit and you can get 2 drinks at a time.

A few points to share.....   I have been having no end of grief trying to post from either my cell phone or tablet.  But it looks like my laptop can handle it fine, so I am going to include a bunch of random things in this one post.

Yes we have had an itinerary change. Makes complete sense.. why would we head straight into a hurricane rather than hang out in the Sea of Cortez for a bit longer and then head north ahead of the storm?    Will be interesting to see what the letter says that is to be distributed this evening.

The filming continues, but again, you can opt out of being shown, even if you accidentally walk into the shot.  They ask you to sign a waiver if you are potentially on camera.  The "stars" of the show are very much over the top characters, in my opinion, but the crew are very pleasant.

The ship is less than half full, so it is pretty easy to get a drink, etc.

Speaking of drinks, someone asked about Johnny Walker Blue. No, it is not included in the current packages as it is $25 per drink. That being said there is a new package, yet to be announced or rolled out, called "Beyond" that will include that amount.

In addition, the crew's side of the Medallion apps will be upgraded tonight. Apparently a lot of changes, according to a few crew members I spoke to. Hopefully for the better, as the current system still has challenges for them.

Anyway, I guess that is my quick update for now. The weather is perfect, seas still very calm, and we are all doing fine.

Princess allows you to get 2 drinks at a time also. We often did it on the Emerald in August.

I was able to get 2 drinks - 1 for me and one for my wife from the bar....is that what you are saying or would they let you get 2 per person?

I was almost in shock seeing chili on the menu again on day 3, but I'm assuming that this is the menu from day 1

I think that may have been the menu for Day 1 of their second leg.  The menus tend to repeat themselves.  We had the same Day 1 menu on the Ruby going to Alaska in July.  Matter of fact I'm starting to be able to know the day of the cruise by what is on the dinner menu.

I am having a terrible time getting photos to upload to here, but I will keep trying.  Yesterday was a very relaxing day at sea. We spent the afternoon at the Retreat pool and it was lovely.   The sun was warm, so there were people in the pool as well, even though the Captain had said the temp was 64 F or 16 C.  This morning it is starting out foggy, but I expect that will burn off soon enough.

It was formal night last night, which would have come as a surprise to many.  Our Travel Summary clearly stated there were to be 0 formal nights.

By the way, you cannot access your booking via the Cruise Personalizer after you sail, so you cannot see your Travel Summary either. I suggest downloading it and/or printing a copy to bring with you.

And while I am on the subject of documents, I also strongly suggest you have printed copies of any documentation required for your cruise, such as Covid tests, ArriveCan, Vaccination records, etc. Having paper copies got us through the various check points much faster than fumbling to bring up files on my phone.

Last night's production show was very good.  It was called Sweet Soul Music. There was also the captains Champagne Waterfall in the Piazza, Deck 5.  With so few people on board, I only waited about 3 minutes in the line up to take my turn "pouring".

Since the restart of Princess I have all of the required documents in a folder on my phone & never had any problems. I do have those documents to show. Any problems using the folder on my phone?

While in the terminal I have my folder opened with the documents ready so I’m ready to show what I need to show as soon as they are needed.

Thanks!

Tom😀

Ok.  Thanks.  The later pic didn't have the wording "01-WestCoast22" at the bottom right of the menu.  But still....chili on day one as the beef option?  I'm used to having my prime rib day one and then again later in the week.  AND they took away the steak from the everyday portion of the menu.

CALL TO THIS CRUISE CRITIC "LIVE FROM" COMMUNITY:

Hi all,

This is a call to each of you, to suggest that we support each other if anyone has a need that others can fill. Need a bandaid? I have lots.  Towards the end of the cruise, if you are short on sunscreen, let me know.  Is there something else you wishi you brought with you but didn't  and could dearly use right now??? Ask. Perhaps one of our members onboard can help you.

We have done this sort of thing before on land based vacations in Mexico and I dont see why it wont work here too.

After all, we are "all in the same boat"..... (pun intended)

Linda that is a fabulous idea. I will contribute anything I have to those in need on our board.
hopefully we will be able to connect as the internet on the ship and CC do not usually work well together.

That is why I included my email address. Happy to coordinate

The ship is a bit warm inside. And muggy humid. I consider it point of pride that I am still having a great time. Lol.
but seriously I feel hard for the crew and entertainers.

There are a few issues with A/C .... Something about filters needing changing? And of course the heat and humidity are coming straight up the stairwell from Deck 4 and the open door(s).

Let’s hope this works …

I’ve had a hard time with the WiFi .. haven’t been able to connect at all on my iPhone and it’s spotty on my iPad.
Everything else on this sailing has been total perfection IMO.
The food is great, the service has been superb, our cabin is awesome and our room steward has kept it so nice and tidy and it is so clean!

Some of the nice touches that I wasn’t really expecting:

- there is a live duo playing music during the daily PES event

- goodies in the cabin include conditioner, body lotion, a shower cap and a small sewing kit (they might be elite goodies)

- lotion and liquid hand soap are available in refillable bottles in our bathroom (I like the no plastic waste)

Do you know if I can upgrade just myself once on board? Hubby doesn't drink.

As far as I can see, there isn't any reason you alone can't buy the package.

Thank you so much for posting, especially as it is the Mexican itinerary. We are cruising Princess for the first time in January to Mexico from SFO and certainly looking forward to the vacation.

Can you tell me? Are you finding Club Class dining up to your expectations? Also, when in a suite I understand that the first night is complimentary speciality dining; do you book before cruise? I was just wondering if we can leave this to look at the restaurants available as this will be new to us.

Before the cruise we will be about 2 hours out of the city; what time is normal start for boarding in SFO?

Your help would be appreciated

Boarding starts around 11am in San Francisco.  Two hours away?  Where are you coming from?
