Newbie question about "perks".

If you only reserve using the Simply Sail option, then you can choose to later pre pay the daily gratuities and then purchase separately the wifi package and drinks package of your choice. You'll have to do the math to see what the total price difference would be, which depends on which packages you select.

If I book a cruise without perks, is there a standard rate I can add the perks (tips, basic WiFi, classic bev) before sailing?

Yes, but IME it will cost you much more to add them a la carte afterwards.

Have always seen much more expensive to add later.

Agree with this - I had my TA price a cruise either way and when she sent me the numbers I did a quick calculation of adding even just tips and bev package and said "Just doing that, I'm more than AI - not even counting WiFi." She replied "Yep."

I booked with AI even though I'm not super bothered with internet.

I’ve read on the Royal boards that you cannot now add the above at a later date, they must be booked at the booking stage.

Will this be coming to Celebrity?

I'm confused, Royal does not have an AI rate (with exception to their Star Class, top level suites). There's no option to add on drinks, wifi, or gratuities at the booking stage. How would one be disallowed from adding them on thereafter?

Any thoughts?

We just booked a few cruises ( since Covid ) ---without the AI package---

( Non drinkers-- need limited wifi-- and will absolutely pay gratuities)

Being in Elite class:

1-- Can we still get a diet coke or water during Happy Hour?

2-- Do we still receive 90 minutes each on wifi ?

3-- I hope they will automatically add the gratuities to my account ---or, do I have to arrange it myself?

( I have no patience to stand in line behind people complaining about nonsense and removing gratuities )

4-- LOL---On our last cruise a few yrs ago " you know who " ordered a scoop of gelato --The Server put two scoops into a dish -- however, when I said we were Elite, she removed a scoop --so, are we still "entitled" to one scoop or have they changed the Policy to two?

We are generally in a suite so get all the perks included. We book through the casino and get a nice discount. However, we are taking our family on a Greek cruise. Because we are paying for their cabins, we are all staying concierge class . Their cabins  get a small discount, ours is free. Theirs comes with all the basic perks ( not premium) mine comes with no perks. . at all. Yes, they will automatically add the gratuities. I get soft drinks in the casino, don’t attend happy hours.  I buy a water package.  Husband needs WiFi. So I added premium WiFi to his phone ( my email is also on his phone). It was very pricey $260 ish. Then I realized I didn’t get the platinum discount! Princess does it automatically when you buy WiFi on their website. I called and they made me buy a new plan ( with the discount) and refunded my pricey purchase ( six-ten business days).

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

3. Automatically added.

4. We got two scoops on our recent Summit cruise. Didn't ask/question why.

Excellent-- Appreciate it.

(I like #3 the best )-- Makes it so easy and it bothers me when people remove the tips. Even though it's none of my business I could hear them doing it.
