35% Off Shore Excursions

We booked excursions back in October when the base prices were lower. Then we cancelled and rebooked Thursday night when all the excursions were 35% off. Even though the prices had gone up, we still saved about $50 each. The sale has changed now -  not all the excursions are discounted 35%.

Large groups and closed in areas can potentially affect one's cruise.  However, if you do not care and enjoy Celebrity tours, book and go.  I hope you enjoy your excursions.  However, it is worth doing the research and booking with a private company too.

Not sure it has to be an either or...some excursions are small group. And if you have OBC and get it for free then that makes a huge difference too

We have $1000 OBC on our upcoming cruise in Jan.  But we still not want to go on Celebrity ship excursions (for COVID/Flu reasons).  Crowding into buses or minivans for prolonged exposure times is a risk we prefer not to take.  We are considering using the OBC on a couple of Private Journeys but these are very expensive and not discounted.  No 35% off.  So we will go off on our own with local guides and use our OBC elsewhere.  In a suite we do enjoy Luminae so we will not do much Specialty Dining either.

We have $1100 OBC for an Apex TA in April and have booked a couple of smaller group tours with Celebrity.  We were on the Apex TA that just ended and had $600 OBC and found ourselves on the last night with half of it still left.  We did try to get into the steak house to use up some of it but they were full. So we played some slots, something we never do and still left some on board.  Don't want to do that again.  There is always the spa but the thought of blowing $200 or so on a mediocre 50 minute massage seemed even worse than playing the slots. So we're trying the smaller group tours and we'll see how it goes.

Some of the tours on our March 2023 NZ cruise have gone up and some have come down (not taking the 35% sale into consideration).  There are just a few with 35% discounts. I've just noticed our itinerary has changed since booking (days 7 and 9 - Picton and Wellington have been swapped).  All tours for these ports are 'currently unavailable' but some are 35% off !!!

It is up to 35%.. Most are less but still worth booking if you find something.

It is still going on.  Just sign into your Celebrity account.  Go to your reservation or cruises and then manage cruises and etc.   you should be able to figure it out.   It does get confusing whe doing the payment.   I don’t why they don’t just ask if you want to use the OBC.    You have to enter the amount.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

How long ago did you originally book your excursions at the lower price?

for us, it was a week ago.

Yes, you got the higher prices. Three of mine, booked back in October, were lower than the 'sale' price.

However, four other ones, booked late November/early December, were much cheaper. For me, it all worked out for the best! If I had booked all my excursions back in October, this sale wouldn't have mattered much.

Sort of reminds me of a Walmart price rollback  😁

Yep, and we also got Covid!  There were only six of us too; it was our OBC that made our choice!  Honestly, everything is a choice with a consequence, but being on a big or small bus is one thing that I choose not to do; however, that is my personal decision based on experience.  I just have had such wonderful and personal tours that have been educational and a joy to take.  I am speaking only about Europe and not the Caribbean.  We just did private tours on our b2b/TA, but then let our guard down.  It was our own fault and our choice to travel with four others and not wear a mask. My husband got rebound Covid with Pneumonia and I did not have one symptom at all.  He is rarely sick and the same for me.  It was certainly not worth using our OBC for this small group tour, but I was using the exact rationale that you stated above...doesn't mean it will happen to you, or to us again, but I am finding another use for my OBC.

Our friends had this problem last night.  Click on your initials or name at the top right and select Settings.  Then click on name or initials on top right and select Upcoming Cruises.  You can then select Plan my cruise under each cruise.

Thanks for the tip....worked for excursions but NOT dining.  Been trying since last Friday with calls to Sales, CVP, Captains Club.  Finally got a rep to try to book for me. It was blocked to her as well....so in exasperation I sent a note to President's office.  That may get someone to intervene or at least contact IT to unlock my booking (and maybe several other posters with the same problem).

Apologies i havent read every post on this thread but my wife and i are booked on the Celebrity Sillouette  in Aug 2023 ( scandinavia cruise) we have  $850 (£714) onboard credit to use

Can anyone advise if you can use it towards .Excursions, speciality dining or .upgrade our drinks package to premium with our onboard spend at the moment when they are offering there sale prices, or do you need to wait till after embarkation before you can use your OBC.

You can use it for anything you can do to your "cart"......as long as the OBC is from Celebrity. OBC from your TA is only available once you board.

When is a sale a sale?  My wife and I have three cruises booked, and for our March 2023 cruise on the Silhouette and our October 2023 on the Equinox, we have already purchased our shore excursions.  And we purchased them more than a few months ago.  I believe there was a sale back then when we ordered them.  But, what we paid for our five excursions on the two cruises way back when was still cheaper than what is being offered now for the same excursions, that are ON SALE.  Kind of like the fact that for our March 2024 cruise on the Silhouette, also booked maybe 10 months ago, when the Elevate Package was still available, we paid an amount just over $5,000 for the two of us for the ten night cruise, prime concierge cabin.  That same cruise now, even with the 75% off second guest, and for "all included" just the classic package, it is well over $6,000.  Some sale!!!!

Same for us.  We would pay more with their 35% sale than we did a couple of months ago.  Celebrity should call it the Smoke and Mirror Sale.

I paid far less for excursions last week than I can today, or could have 2 weeks ago. It was a good sale. That said, I agree on the cruise fare "sales". Most lines are guilty of the same behavior.

I think for any of us that booked the newly released sailings (starting last month), this shorex sale represented a real discount.  Those prices have not had a chance to rise over time.

I've tried calling and emailing, but the phone reps have no clue and no one is replying to my email. During this current sale, my 8 year old is being priced out at adult rates, even when child rates are listed. This is for every shore excursion. Checked personal info and correct birth year is listed. Tested the casino credits, and it correctly blocks out my child as underage. But cannot book a shore excursion as a child, only as an adult. GAAAAHHH.

How about the excursions  that are not 35% off?  Do you have the same issue?

We booked and charged an excursion at the 35% off rate on Saturday, and on Monday there was a notice from Celebrity saying that they were cancelling our excursion and issuing us a refund.  Cruise is scheduled for Feb 2024.

So annoyed!

I had the same thing too

Yes, all excursions are ringing up as adult pricing for my child.

I know it seems crazy, but I wonder if Celebrity’s “system” is incorrectly considering Children pricing as a discount that cannot be combined with any other additional disc count. Since the website clearly shows both prices with the discount Celebrity is screwed up.  Did you try calling them to book the excursions?   Although the detailed conditions say it is a “web” special, I know they will book the special pricing  on the phone.  And also the small prints says you cannot cancel and rebook, but that is also not rue.

I know you said you called, but did you just ask the question about why you cannot book children pricing in line?  If yes, I suggest you call and actually book the excursion on the phone.

Good luck.
