Only for passengers in certain cabana staterooms if I recall correctly.

Thanks!  I believe that is true.  I was finally able to find this on Princess website:

These Cabanas are located on Deck 9 with limited entry to an extra-large lounge space with unique outdoor furniture...

So hopefully that limits crowds in front of folks' cabana rooms!

All of a sudden the Cabana area looks more inviting and relaxing then the Sanctuary🤩deckpic4.jpg.5555014ae0c350a2b6ee062f15ca5d52.thumb.jpg.f4f11960fe9a6f2d3d7ef4a994821827.jpg

Maybe Princess doesn't want the standard fare interior cabin guest to have access to a nice sanctuary?

June, 2018-CCL trading at $60.157.

July, 2018-Princess announces two future ships to be launched as the Sphere Class Ships

October, 2022-Construction has been underway for just about a year, and CCL is trading at $9.15.

Things got cut along the way.  The first photo below is the mock-up of a Cabana Mini-Suite that Princess released to the press (taken from an article written here on CC detailing the progress of the build.  The second photo was taken by a guest this week.

If my Cabana looks like the one in the second photo when I board in September, rest assured that I will be moving the two balcony chairs into the Cabana and the rattan sofa out onto the balcony each day, reversing the operation before dinner.

Does this increase the limited spots available in the sanctuary?

Can you choose your chair/location?

Will pre-booking the sanctuary be on the horizon, eliminating the need to sprint up there upon embarkation or book a B2B to be an in-transit passenger?

Valid question, does the dome have A/C or some type of climate control?

Given that the space will be used by performers who will be engaged in some pretty athletic maneuvers (assuming that the promised entertainment ever materializes) I have to assume that it is a climate controlled environment.  Otherwise the performers will pass out.  Now, will the climate controlled system work, and will Princess turn it on during the day?  Two different questions.  They are marketing it as evoking the terraced cliffs of Santorini.  Last time I was in Santorini, it was 100 F degrees.

This Sanctuary looks like a whole lotta miserable.
350ppl 😵 paying $100/day for the privilege of reserving a basic lounger with no shade. Actually, check that: I haven’t seen any confirmation that the loungers can be reserved. And in all practicality, it seems unlikely that they would do that for 300+ chairs.

The Cabana cabins certainly aren’t any better, with people walking in front of your cabin all day long. And how long before we see large groups appear there because one of them has a Cabana cabin, and lets all their friends inside to enjoy the nice loungers?

Bottom line is that I’ll need to purchase a full Suite, and stay there.
Which isn’t exactly in the budget.

Which brings up a question.  Do guests in Suites automatically qualify to use the Sanctuary, or is the Suite-only area of the Sanctuary reserved for Suite guests who then pay an additional fee to get in?

From Princess website about Suite accommodations on the Sun:

a spacious Signature Penthouse Suite with balcony includes all the amenities of our Signature Collection, including access to the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge and Signature Sun Deck, a private area of The Sanctuary.

So full suite would include access to the private area of The Sanctuary.

And it would appear this private area has the best loungers and the best views.

But does seem there may not be enough loungers in the suite area for ALL suite guests.  Wonder if suite guests can also hang around the non-suite area of The Sanctuary.

I do.  I misunderstood your post.  Yes, the Sanctuary on the Sun does look like the private Island, and not like on other Princess ships.  Really don’t understand what Princess was/is thinking with the  Sanctuary on the Sun.  Very disappointing.   Someone posted that the price is $99 per person per day.

It seems like someone made a mistake in the Sanctuary...like they forgot to put the pads on the chairs?  There's no way that the free chairs in the Dome should be better than the chairs you pay for in the Sanctuary...

I had read the same you quoted, but of course PCL did not publish that they were ruining the rest of the Sanctuary for the steerage guests.

From the main video provided to date, it makes perfect sense that a Suite guest can come and go as the please and use the entire space.

What we do not know is if they show up expecting to use one of their padded loungers, and they are all full, will they be able to plunk down onto a sun bed lounger to wait for one to open up?

The Sun Sanctuary must have some capacity control, but that doesn't mean everyone gets a lounger.

IMO, we need a detailed report from a guest who interviews the Sanctuary manager and asks them a list of questions on the operation.  Until then, I think we have speculated the heck out of the place.  In fact, I have been thinking that the Sun Sanctuary needs its own thread topic and all posts in this thread on the subject should be moved to it.  ( @Host CJSKIDS, is that too much work now with maybe 100 posts on the Sun Sanctuary-  what do you think?)

True, but of course the Dome is an open public area and may have more noise.

They put the good chairs in the dome for the inaugural and bloggers and photographs?  Then they swap them after the fanfare is gone?

The Sanctuary pool is shared, by all accounts.

And, I notice the group of padded ' Signature'  loungers lined up around the pool,

Perhaps those are for those with Signature benefits.   ( I am thinking that they are )

I can remember posting, a long time ago, about the generated images of the Sanctuary and noticing the chairs without padding... even back then.

Something tells me this is NOT good.

I don't know how all of this will work out.

The Dome, and the area there at the bow of the ship,  as well as the wakeview terrace, provide some nice areas...  But, to me,  NOTHING replaces the Sanctuary.

I can't believe Princess is actually doing this if they think that this awful, minialistic, no-shade, no padding area is worth a hundred dollars per person per day.   WWTT ??????

I do NOT want to be a negative Nellie or a Debbie downer...  But, this is making me re-think our future cruising on Princess.

I am IN if anyone wants to get a specific thread created with all of these concerns/complaints.

Actually, I thought the entire ship looked very much like a decorator got his/her hands on it.  Stark, minimalist, designed to be photographed instead of used for comfort and relaxation.  It reminds me a great deal of the white/gray/black minimalism I’ve seen too often in recently remodeled homes.

It's ONE ship.

Princess has FIFTEEN other ships you're going to not sail on?

I can see the possible incompetance and delays, that might have caused them to put the loungers, like the regular pool deck loungers they have been putting on other shops.. if they are not been able to get the padded loungers on time....

BUT...  Given those early 'images' that Princess released that showed regular, unpadded loungers in the Sanctuary...     Something tells me that this is not a 'delay' or a 'mistake.

NOT GOOD.

The original photos we saw of the mock ups…did look much nicer, with just a splash of color.

I’ve only seen this type of design in very industrial type decorating.

The Royal class ships are much more elegant, warm and inviting. JMO

True, except that between the high blue glass for C2 cabanas and the total lack of privacy for C1 cabanas, all the cabins on cabana deck are horrible.

Reviews of other ships that have the same set-up uniformly call the Cabana cabins that open up to the deck area the worst cabins on the ship for that exact reason.  One video even showed deck loungers pressed up against the glass of the cabin's "balcony" so that if you were out on your balcony, someone else's greasy head was pressed up against your glass partition, a foot away from you.  Yech!

Thanks for the video. The Sea View Terrace is similar to the Royal Caribbean Oasis class ships.

That was actually the only place I liked on Allure of the Seas.

Everywhere else was awful.
