Haven for non Haven-ers

Booked on the Viva in a Haven stateroom but have an adult child going as a single in her own cabin.  What's the possibility she can join for dinner at the haven restaurant and/or utilize the haven facilities with us?  An additional fee wouldn't be an issue.

No to using the facilities. You might be able to show her on a tour, but that's about it. At the discretion of the concierge, you'll be able to let her visit for a meal. There is a charge. I've heard it's $45 for dinner, but never actually asked what the charge is. You may allow her in your room, even if it's inside the Haven complex provided you escort her to the room.

The solution would be to book a 2 bedroom family suite in the Haven which would give all three of you access to all of the haven.

Some have reported the concierge allowing a one-time dinner request but that isn't guaranteed.

We have a 2Br suite already and she prefers not to be on the couch.

The couch opens up into a double bed.  We are usually 4 adults and 2 adults have never had a problem with the couch opened.  We are larger than average also.  Just ask the room steward to put and extra mattress or at least a double egg crate topper and she will be fine.

Have you seen this video?  It appears that the 2br family villa has two bedrooms and two regular beds.

Yes, I know this is on Prima but I doubt there is a diffence.

Or, if you don't like videos, here's another source:

https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/category-detail.php?c=3223

The 2br actually sleeps six.   Two in each of two bedrooms and two more on the couch.

The person on the couch still has to go through someone's bedroom to get to the restroom.  That would probably be a non-starter for many people.

@disneydave  The 2 bedroom Haven on the Prima and Viva are 2 full bedrooms ..one with a king size bed and the second with a queen size bed. So if you are a party of 3; I would suggest exploring that option.  We sailed in the suite on Prima as 2 adult with our own rooms. It was great. The living room is tiny but the balcony was large so it worked for us.

If she is not in a Haven room, she can visit your room but cannot use any of the facilities. As someone mentioned, possibly able to join for a meal with a fee.

i either dont understand your question, or i'm missing a piece of information. if it's the 2 of you and your daughter, what could be her objection to the 2 bedroom suite. the second bedroom, although small, has its own bed, bathroom/stall shower and t.v.

my very close friend often travels with my wife and i, and she's perfectly content with staying in the 2nd bedroom. this way she gets her own room, and all the goodies attached to a suite.

she's now hooked on this particular cabin, and the 3 of us have utilized this on the jade in april from athens (9) days, the star 14 days london to copenhagen in sept and the gem b2b  14 days . she was perfectly comfortable, and is delighted, because the very 1st thing i request from our butler is that every morning at around 7-730, he brings a pot of coffee, a pot of de-cafe and a pot of hot water for tea, and assorted sweet rolls and croissants.

also breakfast and lunch in a specially designated restaurant  doesnt hurt either.

unless there is another issue, your daughter should reconsider, or in deference to her, you may have to forego some of the haven perks. if youre on the viva, God knows youve paid for them.

when all else fails, you might try slipping the concierge or the maitre'd at least a $20.

What is the problem we are trying to solve?

A) Are we trying to figure out how to give Haven perks and amenities to someone who hasn't paid for them?

or

B) Are we trying to figure out how the family can spend time together for dinner?

Seems like you could join her in any of the many specialty restaurants on the ship or in one of the main dining rooms for dinner. No fuss. No muss. No problem. And no additional fee required.

I suspect there is more to this.  Perhaps there are already four adults in the 2 brm?

Well even if there is a bed in the 2nd bedroom I gather she'd have to pay full price for her because the price of a Haven cabin is "per person".....the extra cost would be considerably more than a solo cabin is my guess. If not then I don't see the problem here.

Just checked Prima.  2bdrm for two is 9581.  Adding a third person only adds $700.

So op, you may bring your adult daughter to your Haven suite and the concierge may allow you to bring her to the Haven restaurant for dinner a couple of times. There is an extra charge for that dinner that someone already mentioned above. Other than that, no your daughter cannot spend any time at the Haven area. Haven is not like a ”day pass” area where you can purchase a day pass for your non Haven cruise mates. Even if they are immediate family.

Now the 2 bedroom Haven suite is really nice and if you are travelling just the three of you there is really no real reason for your daughter to not share it with you…except for the fact that she might want to get away from her parents completely for whatever young adult reason she might have 😁 But of course it might be that you have younger kids with you who will already stay at the second bedroom. In that case I understand.

But in any case it is what it is: either your daughter stays in a non Haven cabin and doesn’t get to use the Haven facilities or she stays in your 2 bedroom Haven suite and she can enjoy all the Haven facilities and perks. Putting her as pax 3 on the Haven 2 bedroom suite is going to cost you very little (only the third-fourth pax rate which is usually around $300-700/pax)  so getting her another non Haven cabin for single use must be  much more.

Edit: found this pic of Viva 2-bedroom Haven suite.

Yeah, the 2br on Prima & Viva is different from the typical Haven 2br room. P & V have a full bedroom with 2nd bathroom. On the current ships, it's more of a glorified large closet for that 2nd bedroom.

So something isn't quite adding up - either they didn't look at the correct floorplan for the ship they'll be on and don't realize what they have, or there's already more than 2 in that room and the daughter doesn't want to share with granny or something.

Meals can be arranged with the concierge to have non-Haven guests eat there - but there's no guarantee. Priority will always go to the regular Haven guests first. Tours are fine, escorted visits to your own room are fine. But lounging out in the Haven areas as a 'guest' is a no-no.

If the OP is already booked in a 2br suite, and mentions that said daughter would need to sleep on the couch, I think it's safe to assume that the other bedroom is already occupied.

Unfortunately for the OP, the best you can do is possibly pay for said daughter to eat with you in the Haven restaurant, on a space available basis with permission.

As stated we are a party of 4 in a 2br and the adult daughter wants her own space so sharing a bed  with her 2 sisters 18&20 doesn't appeal to her; nor does the couch.  thanks

Nailed it - I think; unless the 3br somehow has a huge price drop.

Then you have a major issue.  Very doubtful the concierge will allow your adult daughter to take more than a few meals in the haven.  Perhaps you need to book another haven room.

Or, the 18 and 20 year old get the couch and the adult child gets the 2nd bedroom.

This is actually the first time you mentioned that there are 4 already in the suite.

Thank you for providing additional information not provided in the original post. As others have noted, your daughter may be blue to have a few meals (not all and for a fee) at the discretion of the concierge. She will not be able to use any of the Haven facilities. I would get another Hven room.

My wife stepdaughter and her friend will all be in the haven with my, we have friends staying outside the haven that book about 75 days out and understand that we may be able to take them in for a tour but we explained to them they won’t be able to utilize any of the facilities. I totally agree with this as haven guest have paid a premium to have those spaces and services so why should other who don’t be able to use it just because they know someone in there
