Guest TopoChico Posted January 25, 2023 #76 Share Posted January 25, 2023 Can you still smoke cigarettes on Royal Caribbean in the casino? I don’t gamble but my husband would stop in occasionally later at night and come back smelling like he bathed in an ashtray. That was in April Everyone’s ok with that? Most ships are going with a smoking side, and a non-smoking side. That is kind of like having a no pee zone side in a swimming pool. 😝 2

I don't blame the smoker, vaper or midnight toker smoking in the smoking lounge, aka casino. They are only doing what RC allows them to do. Ok, not the toker. I blame RC for allowing it. It is ok in the Casino because it's a designated smoking area. Nobody cares if you follow the rules and do it where your supposed to. Fitzget Posted January 25, 2023 #82 Share Posted January 25, 2023 Vape is just that - vapor! It is not smoke. While the rules state that you can't vape in your room, no one is gonna smell it. If people get upset about a vapor, then they just want to complain. But if you do get in trouble for it, that's on you.

I don't vape nicotine, so I have no argument here, but it doesn't bother me like smoke does. I will, however, still smoke my weed pen before bed and sleep like a baby.

I don't think people should be doing either except in dedicated areas. HOWEVER, all of those up on their high horse going on and on about "rules" and how they must be followed 100% of the time, I have a question for you (and we'll see how many people answer honestly)... How many of you follow the speed limit EXACTLY, every time, every location? I'll readily admit I do about 8-9mph over AND I get passed by about as many cars as I pass. Apples/Oranges! Speeding is USUALLY a physical activity that creeps up on most people as most people are rule followers. So, the vast majority of speeders aren't anti-rule, just not 100% cognizant of their actions, me included, but it still isn't an excuse. I'm very thankful for cruise control. I believe that is a whole lot different than lighting up a cigarette in a venue/location that is Non-Smoking/Vaping. Sneaking on Wine/Alcohol/Beer, whatever on to a ship that it is known for their rules. Hell, I talked to a guy in a cruise terminal, recently, that told me that he has two wine bottles filled with Rum or other hard liquor and that he had a machine/device that put a wax seal on the bottles to make it look like a factory seal. Hell, I go out of my way to go in the "ENTRANCE" doors and out the "EXIT" doors at Walmart/Target (Not really, I don't go Target, but you get my point), and I give the stink eye look to those that don't. I also believe totally in the 2A. But, won't go into places that don't, with 2A or not, on me. Some places can't be avoided though. Do I speed. Yes, but not with intent and when I find that I am, I slow down and am glad that I wasn't pulled over for my inattentiveness. Smoking/Vaping/Smuggling aren't unintended acts, they are very overt acts of defiance.

Rare moposh Posted January 25, 2023 #87 Share Posted January 25, 2023 I thought this was going to be a completely different post than what it is. Yesterday a co-worker told me that her son's lung had collapsed which was caused by vaping. It is not healthy. I don't know about the residual smoke and getting it out of linens, curtains, carpet, room, etc. I do not it is very hard to get cigarette smoke out of hotel rooms. I worked at a hotel where people smoked in the non-smoking rooms.

Vaping doesn’t leave residual smoke, it’s not smoke, some has zero scent at all.

Guest phd1003 Posted January 25, 2023 #90 Share Posted January 25, 2023 The long and short of it is, the rules are in place to protect people who are vulnerable to your smoke or mist or fairy dust or whatever you want to call it so you can sleep better at night knowing your poisoning those around you. Just smoke in the designated areas. Follow the rules. I like shooting guns, but I have to go to a designated area or I will be breaking the rules. I'm not complaining about that am I? It's not up to you to decide how your smoking or vaping is going to affect a person with asthma, emphysema, bronchitis or other lung conditions. LOL...if these vapers state they are simply vaping water....why would they bother? 😉 The "it's only water" theory does not really make sense does it. 😉 4

However, I do like to play the Devil's Advocate at times. Don't we all do things on a daily basis that can adversely affect others, things that could just be done away with with a rule or law? If so, where do we stop, where does my rights start and yours ends or Vise Versa. What is enough rules/laws, what is not enough rules/laws? My only personal though about this is that I'd give company's a lot more wiggle room than governmental jurisdictions to make rules or laws. You break a company rule, you are slapped on the wrist, told not to do it again, and/or kicked out. Break a law, you are arrested, tried, convicted, and/or jailed. No, this is not intended to be a political discussion.
Seville2Cabo Posted January 25, 2023 #96 Share Posted January 25, 2023 Just ab FYI - before you get off in your next Mexican port, remember smoking and Vaping is Illegal in public places, including the beach and resort pool areas. It's also a no no to just bring the vape pen off the ship into Mexico.

Example to keep it on cruise topic - I don't care if somebody goes pool side at 7 am and claims 20 chairs, why because it doesn't potentially hurt me or my child with asthma. How about the famous opting out of gratuities discussion (*cough* -keep it on and tip on top of that as well *cough*) it doesn't bother me. Teen curfews - my kids abide by it. But it's not my business if yours do as long as they don't knock on my door. Most rules don't affect one's health directly, this one can.

My husband has lung issues and absolutely should not be around those smoking and/or vaping per his medical team. When he brought it up to a ship's security, they actually laughed at him for reporting someone. It's a real shame that people choose not to believe the real harm about vaping but I'm sure time will tell, hopefully, sooner than when it's too late. Flame me if you must but please, please, please go by the rules and only smoke or vape in the designated areas. I'd like my husband to be around for a long time with me! Thank you to those that understand!
