Heroes tribute bar (Venezia)

Looking to possibly book the Venezia out of New York in either October or November.  I like to watch the football games and enjoy a few beers while onboard.  My questions are, does Heroes show both college and NFL games or do they just show whatever the national game listed for that weekend?   And is there ample space to sit and watch?  TIA

I realize that.  I was pretty asking those that have sailed ships already with Heroes bar onboard (Panorama, Mardi Gras, etc.)

This...but if you want to know about the other ships you mentioned there are plenty of postings to describe those areas for you to search to get answers for those ships.

The Heroes lounge on the Mardi Gras is not large but has the big screens and comfy seating.   Our experience with the games is that there will some shown however if it isn't the game you are interested in you are out of luck.   The bartenders can't change the station and complaining to guest services will get you nowhere.  We enjoy college and Pro  🏈 and realized our mistake last year.

I was on Panorama in the Heroes bar for one of the NFL playoff games.  The lounge wasn’t large and every seat was taken by 30 minutes prior to kickoff.  By kickoff there were lots of people willing to stand for the entire game, since virtually no one leaves during the game.  I managed to snag a seat at a high table near the back without a very good view of the screen, but someone in the table in front of me was streaming the game on his large screen laptop, so I could keep up that way.

Whichever it is they will show college games and NFL games. There is no guarantee that they can or will be able to show the specific game that you want though.

Thanks Greg.  Yeah, I figured that much.  Do they get at least more than 1 game in each time slot?

For college a rule of thumb is usually that they only get ESPN games. And I’ve seen it where they only have the games that are on ESPN and espn2. But I’ve also seen some weird things where the 2021 big XII championship  wasn’t on ESPN but the ship had it on some ESPN channel and the game that was supposed to be on ESPN they didn’t get.

For NFL they’ll usually have several games. But I’ve seen it before where a group of eagles fans wanted to watch the eagles game in the casino. The bartender said he couldn’t get it. But that game was on in the red frog pub.

on celebration in November I wasted to watch the saints game. It was a 3:30/4:30 game. They had it on one tv in the pig and anchor. It was at a table. They would not put it on at the bar or in the heros lounge. And they tried to kick me out of that table at 5pm to get ready for dinner service.

The one thing that has been consistent is they’ve always had the Sunday night/Monday night games. But I wouldn’t even guarantee that because if they’re in a spot with bad satellite reception, they can lose it. I had a cruise where they couldn’t get the Thursday night game. I’ve had no signal on all of the tvs during the NBA playofffs. Last year me and another guy watched a playoff game on my phone in the sports bar when all of the TVs had no signal.

I don't know what the equivalents will be on the Venezia, but on the Horizon, the SkyBox plays different games than the Pig and Anchor, Of course, there is A LOT more room in the Pig and Anchor. Like others said, it is the luck of the draw as to what games they get.

Found this out on Glory during March Madness - they only get ESPN, but they get ESPN Caribbean, which has different rights to different things. We got every single tourney game in Skybox even though CBS/Turner had US rights, because ESPN had the Caribbean rights. 🤷🏻‍♂️

From past experience on other carnival ships we have only seen the national games being shown

So I need to relay an 'eye rolling' story.  We were recently on a cruise during the NCAA and a guest on Lido was incensed that her server couldn't get the big screen switched over from the standard beachy music loop (my favorite pics are the doggie!!) to a non-descript Sweet 16 game because 'her team' was on.  I mean, I understand a Blue Card politely asking but to push back when the answer is no? 🤨

I usually mention that those games will be on once in port and the cable is hooked up.

I think the point was that she didn't want to go somewhere else (like the sports bar) to watch the game; she wanted Carnival to put her game on the giant screen on Lido.
