Guess we'll have to pack a couple of real golf balls in case we want to play! 😁

We had the light plastic ones on different ships about a year ago, husband now has a couple golf balls in his backpack that come along with him when we cruise.

in years past, they were like regular Putt-Putt balls

I guess the only place I play mini golf or putt-putt is on Carnival ships.  And I (used to) play regular golf.

How do "regular Putt-Putt balls" differ from:

a. regular (real) golf balls?

b. the ones that Carnival is using today?

Regular golf balls do not float.

Many (most?) mini-golf balls float so when they wind up in water features they are much easier to fish out.  So they are less dense. But, most people probably couldn't tell the difference. They could easily break a window.

The golf balls that I saw on Disney Fantasy were a light plastic that had a 0 chance of breaking a window no matter how hard you tried.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn it's an environmental thing in case they go overboard.

Plastic takes a gazillion years to decompose in water, so it'd be an environmental hazard, right?

Glad someone remembered Seinfeld's whale.

They aren't really plastic, more like a foam or something - very light weight and blow around.  It's ok to play when the ship is docked, but don't even think of playing in the wind with those balls because they do not stay put.   We now pack our own since we enjoy a game or two each cruise.

I'm guessing, as someone said above, it's probably a safety issue if you get kids who like to toss them around - but they don't make playing very easy when the ship is moving.

It never goes away. Just turns into microplastic. They are everywhere and are causing problems.
