1st time i've seen this offer.

I'm going to assume dice/cards are used.

also 1st time i've seen them advertise scratch cards ($20 for 5) + lotto ($10 for 5 games) bundle.

(There's no discount for buying this bundle)

Every Vegas casino will sell you their used cards. Cards are nice because they are near-new since they don't ever let them get worn or marked.

I have a collection of packs of cards from several Las Vegas casinos. We went to Las Vegas several times in the late 90’s and in the 00’s before we started cruising with NCL in 2006 and became hooked.

isantom. sorry, but in  this case it's not nickel and diming, it's just another souvenier you can buy if you wish. how is it any different than buying a t-shirt, hat or any of the other so called "treasures" you can purchase on board?

if you dont want it, dont buy it. nickel and diming is usually some extra b/s charge for something people think should be included in the total fare

We just ask for a deck at security & they give them to us free

That's my experience. They give them free or the casino sends them to the cruise lines library for their guests. I've NEVER paid for them!

Yes on Princess & Celebrity I just ask at guest services if none in library.

LOL no it is pay for something if you want to buy it.  They most likely had enough requests for playing cards that they decided to go ahead and sell them.  If you don't want them simply do not buy them,  Problem solved.  Next.

NCL has been selling scratch cards for a long time. In casino and at bingo .

For that matter, there has been BINGO for a fee on every cruise ship I have ever sailed on for decades. That isn't a nickel or dime,,, more like $50.

Now, when we started cruising, there were hard wooden loungers on deck which you had to rent and tip a deck-chair-attendant to set up for you. We didn't consider that a nickel or dime,,, maybe a penny. Lounger rental was even required for those in First Class,,, although the chairs were nicer.

No...not nickel and diming. Nickel and diming is used to refer to a minor mandatory extras charge/fee that you have to pay, not for an optional item you can choose to purchase. Imagine if you will, arriving at the pier and you ask the porter for a luggage tag only to be informed that the mandatory luggage tag comes with a $1 fee. THAT would be nickel and diming. Or imagine getting to the check in desk at the pier and you are told that there is now a $5 charge to issue you a room key card. THAT would be nickel and diming.
