grapau27 Posted June 2, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Thank you for today's daily reports, the food and beverage and daily lists. The only Bubba I know is the American golfer Bubba Watson. I have spent a fortune in Dentists since I was 17 when an drunk ex friend hit my jaw and it broke in 2 places and my jaw was wired for 6 weeks. I will give today's food and drink a miss. I hope my Dailyite friends are safe and well. Best wishes for a great weekend. 20 4
Rare rafinmd Posted June 2, 2023 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Happy Friday. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. I can't really say I love my Dentist but appreciate her. I'll pass on Bubba and Rocky Road. I don't generally eat donuts but will have a "Poe's Purple" on Purple Fridays during the Ravens season. Not sure about the Pratchett quote. I've been to a few Western Australia but not Exmouth. Marconi really revolutionized world communications. While I'm somewhat ok with Polenta I'll pass on adding muchrooms to the mix. My alternative is Tropical Fruit Medley, Lamb Shank, and Upside Down Pear Crunch Coffee Cake as served on MS Prinsendam June 2, 2015. Rare ottahand7 Posted June 2, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Good Friday morning! We are heading into town which is an all day activity. Post office, then the hour long drive to Iron Mountain. Walgreens, Walmart and Home Depot with long lists for the last two. We will stop for Friday fish fry on the long drive back into the woods. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. Have a wonderful day. Nancy
Mr. Boston Posted June 2, 2023 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Good morning everyone and happy Friday! While I like rocky road I think I’d prefer @1ANGELCAT’s donut day. I really do love my dentist, probably the best one I’ve ever had. Today is also DH’s last day of work at Harvard and will be officially retired at the end of the day, congratulations David! The quote is often true unfortunately. The meal suggestion sounds tasty but it’s going to be pizza night here. I might try the drink though. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for everyone on our prayer list. Cheers to everyone celebrating something special today! 🍺

Rare Nickelpenny Posted June 2, 2023 #14 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Good Morning to All!! Thanks for the report. Won't be able to try any of the mentioned gastronomies and the days - I would rather have National Doughnut Day!! 🤣 Thoughts for the care list. Up at my normal time but 2 hours earlier than if I was home because of the time difference. Trying to figure out how far I will drive after my study appointment and where I will lay my head tonight. I have to get to Mammoth Cave KY by around noon on Sunday as I reserved a tour. It is about 12 hours from the study location. So I probably will drive a couple hours out of the Dallas area before I stop. But who knows. Depends on the weather. Thank goodness I drove the way I did coming here as I saw where TX got some awful flooding!! I could see the dark clouds north of me and it sprinkled a tad. But gosh!! Well, have a fantastic Friday everyone!!

Cruzin Terri Posted June 2, 2023 #16 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Good morning. It is amazing what a good night’s sleep will do. I am surprised that I was able to sleep but I was so tired after all of the angst we had yesterday. Thank you all for your prayers and helpful comments., In the end, while it cost us some money, we have dependable flights and we will be okay. Thank you to Rich, Vanessa, Dixie, Ann, and Debbie for your contribution to the thread,. You all keep us going each day. Graham, thank you for your daily explanation of the days we celebrate. I will pass on the drink and meal today. Not yet sure on the wine. Interesting quote. Have not been to the destination. Prayers for all who are on the cares list and cheers to those celebrating and cruising. Hope everyone has a good day. God Bless, Terri 30
dfish Posted June 2, 2023 #17 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Good morning, everyone! Slept well last night and doing very well on the recovery from surgery. Today Sue and I are going to walk up to the restaurant nearby for breakfast. When we take our morning walks and head in that direction, we can often smell the toast and bacon. Lately it has been calling our names, so today we'll go and enjoy! Nothing else is on the agenda as Sue's car is in the shop. It needs a new front wheel bearing and new rear brakes. Some of this is from the joy of living on a gravel road for all those years. Hitting those ruts took a toll on the car. Today's meal sounds semi good to me. In direct contrast to @rafinmd Roy, I would love the mushroom ragout and leave out the polenta. Polenta is a dish of boiled cornmeal that was historically made from other grains. The dish comes from Italy. It may be served as a hot porridge, or it may be allowed to cool and solidify into a loaf that can be baked, fried, or grilled. Too many carbs for me. In Italian cuisine, ragù is a meat-based sauce that is commonly served with pasta. An Italian gastronomic society, Accademia Italiana della Cucina, documented several ragù recipes. The recipes' common characteristics are the presence of meat and the fact that all are sauces for pasta. Ok, we don't meet either characteristic in this recipe, but we shall continue on!. I like the idea of using red wine as a source of liquid in this recipe. https://themodernproper.com/mushroom-ragu-with-polenta This next one is a vegan offering. https://www.connoisseurusveg.com/wild-mushroom-ragu-creamy-polenta/ I had to include this one from Emeril. I can just taste the flavor explosion! https://www.emerils.com/127824/wild-mushroom-ragout-over-creamy-polenta Wishing you all a wonderful day! 25
Rare kazu Posted June 2, 2023 #18 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Thanks for our TGIF Daily, Rich. Interesting collection of days. Not a Rocky Road fan - where is Maritime Sea Salt Caramel day? 😂 While I have never liked going to the dentist (thanks to my childhood one) I have to say while I don’t love him, my periodontist is starting to win my heart 😉 LOL on the quote - isn’t that the truth? I’l pass on the meal & wine (I’ll take the mushrooms and skip the polenta - opposite of @rafinmd LOL). It was so hot by 11:30 that I had to quit outside for a bit. I decided to do some errands set for today (and besides, I needed more earth). Ivan took such a fit when I washed one of his toys (stared at the clothesline like a pointer) that I decided to buy back up toys to give when I wash. (It’s not like he only has one toy 😂) Unfortunately he “knew” they were there so they are out too. I’ll hide one of them later when he’s not looking to keep him distracted when I wash them. LOL. He LOVES his toys. We (Ivan & I) got a bit done later outside but not enough. I’ve figured out why it’s taking me so long - I had Jose before to send out for earth while I continued working, bring up the boxes and move the earth, turn on the water, connect the hose & water for me. Now, it’s all me. 😔 @Sharon in AZ thank you for helping (or trying to since they still haven’t answered) the poster on the FCL who doesn’t read instructions. You are kinder than I. I get frustrated with people who don’t give the info I need when it’s as clear as a bell. I know, asking people to read seems to be asking a lot 😠. @Nickelpenny safe travels. Enjoy your tour 🙂 @Mr. Boston Woo Hoo on David’s retirement. Congratulations to him! @Cruzin Terri Happy to hear that you have dependable flights 👍 but dam on it costing you $$$$. Rain is supposed to be on it’s way here and Nova Scotia. Hopefully there will be enough to make the fires controllable if not put them out 🙏🏻 Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and cheers 🥂 to those celebrating. Have a great Friday everyone !!!!! 32 2
StLouisCruisers Posted June 2, 2023 #19 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Good morning friends! A busy Daily already this a.m. Thank you Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report. Lots of good things to celebrate here. I agree doughnut day is the pinnnacle, but rocky road is also quite wonderful, if we're referring to ice cream. Otherwise I detest rocky roads! I just saw Bubba the painter yesterday and he's the only Bubba I know. I like my dentist and I think that's as far as it will go! The quote is witty. The Day in History is pretty historic all right. As for the polenta with wild mushroom ragout, I think I will pass on that. The drink sounds very nice, but I don't care for red wine. Thank you so much Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for your reports today. We appreciate you! Thanks to our Vanessa @JazzyV for the great job she does on the Care and Celebration lists. We pray for better health and commiserate with everyone with sad news. 🙏 Congratulations to the Celebration list people! Cheers to @Mr. Boston's DH as he finishes his last day of work and retires today! 🥂 We hope you will enjoy your retirement and all the time it leaves you to do your favorite things, like cruise!! Our port today Exmouth, Australia is no doubt a great place to stop on a cruise. We didn't stop there on our circumnavigation of Australia, but would be happy to do that. That port was listed here the past two Septembers, 9-4-2021 and 9-17-2022. Here are the links for you to easily retrieve your photos. Thanks in advance for posting them! This morning we walked around our neighborhood for exercise. Yesterday I reminded DH we have our classic Nordictrack ski machine available downstairs if he'd like to use that instead of the treadmill (still waiting on technician). He used the ski machine and says he got a real workout! I am not coordinated enough to use it well. This morning he plans on washing the grime and bugs off the car we drove to Michigan and back. Then we may go get some groceries later. I am also getting to the point in our Island Princess Covid cruise photo book where I test positive so this should be interesting as I show what a wonderful time we had in quarantine. NOT! It should be a beautiful sunny day here with a high of 84. Hope you all have a great Friday! Stay safe and smooth sailing to our cruisers.🚢

cat shepard Posted June 2, 2023 #24 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! A heavy marine layer that is quickly burning off greeted me this morning. Vanessa, thank you for jumping back into capturing & sharing our happenings! Gym, Bindi walks, chores and dinner at a friend’s. I continue my hunt for a new landscaping company, since my last one quit. Prayers for all who need our support. @smitty34877 Terry, I hope DH is feeling a bit better. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone! *********** San Felice Chianti Classico 2020 This Chianti sounds interesting & reasonable. Consumers and critics really enjoy it. And it is easy to find! Numerous online distributors with prices starting at $14.98. Winemaker Notes #24 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2022 Produced entirely from native grapes, it is a typical, medium-bodied Chianti Classico, with a distinguished personality and notable for its elegance and pleasantness. Luminous ruby red. Scents of cherry, raspberry, and sweet violets. Dry on the palate, showing subtle tannins and a fresh, crisp acidity. At its best when partnered with antipasti, full-flavored first courses, and most red meats. WS92 Wine Spectator This supple red shows a core of cherry and plum fruit allied to olive, juniper and tobacco notes. Delivers well-integrated tannins and acidic structure, lingering nicely on the finish. Sangiovese, Colorino and Pugnitello. Drink now JD92 Jeb Dunnuck Refined and pure, the 2020 Chianti Classico packs in beautiful concentration within its medium frame. Elegantly perfumed with red cherry liqueur, cinnamon, and pressed flowers, it is long with supple red berries, soft edges, and polished tannins, and it remains refreshing. It is drinking wonderfully now and offers a tremendous value. JS91 James Suckling A medium-to full-bodied Chianti Classico with fresh strawberries, grapefruit, raspberries and a herbal undertone. This is juicy and transparent with a tight, tannic structure. Not austere, though. RP90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate From a hot vintage, the 2020 Chianti Classico shows ripe cherry fruit that is prominent but not overdone. Fresh acidity gives balance to this entry-level red. The 2020 growing season saw frost in April, and yields were down by 30% as a result. The season became very hot and dry toward the end of summer, causing dehydration and the berries to shrink. Fortunately, the vines shut down at the highest temperatures as a defense mechanism, and the wine's color, freshness and fruit flavors were largely protected. This Sangiovese-based wine has tiny percentages of Pugnitello and Colorino in the blend. This is a job well done. Best After 2022. 25 6
