def0715 Posted August 1, 2023 #901 Share Posted August 1, 2023 (edited) I think the big signs were taken down a few weeks ago. I don’t know if the paper signs were ever removed. I see them on a few table games on the port side. No paper signs on starboard side. (Roulette is all good.) Only vaping I’ve seen was by a guy seated in front of me on the second deck of the tender into Grand Cayman at 7 this morning. I relocated when I saw smoke coming out his nostrils and swirling around his head. There was a big NO SMOKING sign a few feet from him. def0715 Posted August 2, 2023 #902 Share Posted August 2, 2023 I did see one person vaping indoors last night on the Equinox … at the Ensemble Lounge.
wrk2cruise Posted August 2, 2023 #903 Share Posted August 2, 2023 If there is such a focus on where you can and can't vape in the casino why do they not make any effort to enforce their policy. 1

def0715 Posted August 2, 2023 #906 Share Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) It’s very dark in there at night. I was sitting a table or two away listening to the musician. The device lit up green when the user did her thing, which is the only reason it caught my eye. I don’t blame employees for that. I’m sure if I had alerted one of them they would have said something. I opted to move. It is being done so slyly I think it’s impossible to always notice. I must be on heightened alert after my cherry cloud experience in the casino on my sailing June 25-July 2. tomcruiser1234 Posted August 5, 2023 #907 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Yep. Even when the test wasnt going on we saw people vaping at a show. It’s gonna get out of control fast if they officially allow. 3
StineAngel Posted August 5, 2023 #908 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Just disembarked Equinox today. Saw plenty of vaping on board, both in and out of the casino (and in smoking areas) including OVC one day. But I'm a teacher and used to spotting "covert" vaping.... 1

X should reconsider that decision. Vaping can be a fire hazard. I wouldn’t want to be in the middle of the Atlantic and have this happen: Explosions. There have been incidents of batteries in vaping devices exploding and causing serious injuries and burns.

Spif Barwunkel Posted August 5, 2023 #914 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Vaping in the casino returns to the first page of the leaderboard. Already outdone in its own proliferation, there is really nothing more to be said. Celebrity knows its shortcomings. They certainly have been reminded of them on many occasions. Whether or not X cares about the negativity of it all remains to be seen. Nothing more can be done here.

And from many reports they do not enforce the no vaping in the other areas of the ship... They lost their market niche of no smoking/vaping... Yet another area where Celebrity was one step ahead but gave it up... Edited August 6, 2023 by NMTraveller
BCHappyGal Posted August 6, 2023 #916 Share Posted August 6, 2023 I was so hopeing that X would pay attention to all our negative feedback Sure looks like they no longer want loyal guests... I have some cruises booked and paid but will switch to another line if X allows vaping inside... IMO it is as bad (smells that way too) as cigarettes I have been doing my research and actually there are a number of lines that do not allow smoking/vaping inside Added to this they have taken away the suite Butlers... again something I paid for when I booked that is GONE ....

Rare PinkSandGirl Posted August 6, 2023 #918 Share Posted August 6, 2023 (edited) As many others, I am extremely bothered by this 'test'. I came across this in a FAQ section of a craft brewery and this thread came to mind. ‐-‐------------------------------ IS SMOKING PERMITTED? Dude, we’re living in the 2000’s. Of course it isn’t. Smoking (of anything) & Vaping (of anything) isn’t allowed on the deck, in the entryway, on the stairs, or in the bathrooms (yes, the fire alarm will go off. yes, it’s very loud. yes, everyone will be mad at you. yes, you’ll be asked to leave). ‐-‐------------------------------ Why in the world would Celebrity change their indoor smoking policy in this day in age? Why, oh why? Very disappointing for sure. 🤞The test fails and they revert back. Time to compose another letter to Celebrity. ✍️ 🍹 Edited August 6, 2023 by PinkSandGirl 10
SmilingOctopus Posted August 6, 2023 #919 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Just allowing vaping inside the ship is not acceptable. If they would come up with some sort of solution, fully isolating vapers from other casino guests, it might have a chance. If they are serious about making such a massive change in their ships policies, they should at least be prepared to set up a fully enclosed place to avoid any of the non vaping/smoking guests having to inhale anything at all... If they would make somewhat of an effort I'm sure there could be a way to fix this. None the less the current policy worked for years and years, I personally don't see any point in changing it. Also the fire hazard pointed out by C-Dragons is a very valid argument, these devices are manufactured with nearly no regulations, using cheap and unreliable batteries. Just dangerous. I hope that the smoke detectors in the staterooms are decent enough to pick up any of this, if vape is detected immediately in airplane lavatories, I don't see why it should be any different on board of ships. Just felt like sharing my point of view 🙂

Only outside in designated areas. It worked and nothing wrong with those restrictions. All changed because of Laura Hodges Bethge. 🤢 Edited August 6, 2023 by doghog
CHEZMARYLOU Posted August 6, 2023 #921 Share Posted August 6, 2023 If they were concerned about the danger from the batteries they would have to ban them from the ship. 1
