Did Fortress of the Bear, Raptor Center, and saw all the Salmon in Sitka. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Also did a whale watching boat. One of the best days ever!

We bought salt! The cedar sprinkled on salmon cooked on the grill is really good!

We went on the Whale Watching excursion at 4:00. We saw lots of whales, but the trip was cut short because the bathrooms stopped working. They raced us back to land. Lots of unhappy people because it was cut short by over an hour and they needed to use the restroom!

And while whale watching, our Captain took us to the shoreline where he usually sees bears in the wild. And we saw one!

This is the first time I’ve sailed RCI and we’ve only had dinner in the MDR. It has been really good every night except the Asian night. The soups have consistently been good, the lasagna was rich and creamy, the strip steak was properly cooked and tender. The waiters have done anything we’ve asked to make our meals pleasurable. (I am surprised that they serve all wine in the same white wine glass. I asked for a real red wine glass for my Chianti and they had to run to Jamie’s to get it, but now I think they just keep it near our table so they don’t have to run every night!) I sailed Alaska last year on Celebrity and had to send food back. I heard reviews from others that Chops wasn’t worth it. There’s also been an ongoing debate about Sorrentos pizza. It isn’t going to win any awards, but the grandson ate 5 pieces of cheese pizza yesterday and it is a highlight of the cruise along with the hash browns at breakfast and the soft serve ice cream. @Lionesss I think you’ve taken all the money out of the slot machines and not left any for the rest of us! Question: How do I change my disembarkation to self-disembark? I’m trying to do it from the app. Do I need to go to guest-services? Thanks in advance for the answer.

We have never done it. 
I am guess you must keep all your suitcases and go down to level that you disembark on. Get in line. 
You will be first off with others doing it. 
 

The information will start showing up on the TV soon.

In 2018 before we sailed to Alaska we watched the Poseidon on regular. TV

 

This year before we sailed watched Titanic. 
 

Now I see a new book is currently being advertised.

You guys had much better weather in Juneau than we did last September.  It poured buckets most of the day.

 

 

Although I did get almost the same picture that you took during a slight break in the rain, and the waterfalls coming down were spectacular.

@Husky1987, Alaska pure sea salt does have a great mail order service. The blueberry flavor is amazing.

Just keep your suitcases in the room and self disembark in the morning. You don't have to tell anybody anything.

It was beyond what I ever could have imagined. Always joked that I wanted to do it all while I was here because I would probably not ever come back. Definitely coming back.

Explorer was our first RCI cruise. Great ship!

I’ve enjoyed this cruise, except for not winning the slot tournament. 😉 I’m ready to sign up for another one while on board to get the perks. Which ship is your favorite? As I mentioned before I think the MDR on board has been fine for me, but I want a ship with good food. I will get the casino certificate. Does that really allow me to only deposit $200. For a future cruise that is unspecified? Thanks for answering what may be a stupid question, but the lady in the casino wasn’t very helpful. Glad it’s calmed down. We’re going on the outside of the island and not through Haidi sea which earlier was showing higher winds.

CK for dinner. 
 

Spouse had 4 lobster tails (poached???)

They were small but made a ok meal. 
 

When asked if he liked them he just commented. “I like the old way better”. 
I think she was surprised with his honesty. 
 

I opted to eat off the children’s menu and had spaghetti. It was good. 
 

Desserts were baked Alaska and was a generous portion.
