Also kinda sad that you have to go to a bar for a drink instead of the drink coming to you. When the casino decides to properly value their patrons, these oddities should change.

again your assumptions are wrong.

i prefer to goto the casino bar because i dont stay in the same spot often. i jump from slot to slot.

thats the way i play and i find it enjoyable that way.

I'd rather get the drink myself that have the overworked bar waitress with a tray full of drinks looking for me

But they aren't. I made no assumptions about your style of play, nor did I comment on them. We were only discussing the bar designation/locations.

You can prefer to go, or not go, to the casino bar for whatever reason you like. It isn't relevant. You want to get a drink yourself, fine by me. You could, of course, limit your slot to slot jumping to the periods when you are not actually waiting for your drink, but I get why you do what you do. Cutting out the server is just one less person you might have to tip. Gotta watch every nickle and dime you have.

BTW...add it to the list: If the casino properly cared for their patrons, they would have sufficient staff to quickly serve drinks without having to be "overworked". Hopefully, they will change their outlook and better show how they appreciate your patronage.

I am a little concerned about NCL's future because many whom I talk to prefer the breakaway and breakaway+ class. Many have pointed out the lack of space at venues, buffet, or the indulge food hall. Others say that the layout is confusing. Also, NCL is losing ground to MSC as they have more ships and potentially more customers. I just realized last week that NCL lost their position as the 3rd largest cruise line by fleet size. What all that in mind, it doesn't sound like fair seas for NCL in the future.

I would like to get people's thoughts as I haven't sailed the Prima class yet.

Thanks.

Disclaimer: I own a measly 100 shares of NCL

I wish they would bring back the Jewel Class ships

That is great news, and certainly expected. Just look at the difference between Breakaway and Encore. Live and learn.

Just curious what are the differences between breakaway and encore? I haven’t sailed encore but have been on joy which I think is the sister ship?

I like the Bliss better than Prima and for only one reason - venues.  I do love the food options on Prima.  Is there a LEO 3 yet or maybe back to the drawing board regarding venues 🙂

Encore, Bliss and Joy have amazing Observation Lounges and have racetracks taking up the top deck where Breakaway, Getaway and Escape do not have either. But have wonderful offerings that are different... dinner and a show.

NCL is not going to install venues on LEO 3 that are the same size as the Bliss. Ain't going to happen. The size and class of ship does not support that. Maybe eliminating a venue.

NCL will be losing my business if they continue with the Prima/Viva designs the way that they are.  Everything about these ships is sub-par to the BA & BA+ Class ships.  Cabins, decor, venues, replacing water slides with dry slides, flow of the ship just to name a few.  There is not a single feature of these new vessels that makes me want to sail them again.  They've really dropped the ball so far.

I don't understand. NCL has a fleet of 19 ships right now, and 89%+ of those are non-Prima class ships, including six BA & BA+ class ships. It seems like you have plenty of options from which to choose. Why would they lose your entire business over a small number of ships which, in your own words, don't have a single feature of interest to you? I don't get the all-or-none, my way or the highway, stance.

When you've sailed all of the other ships (some multiple times) you look forward to new ones.  I've sailed just about every ship in the fleet.

Of course you do, but (as I said) the server is just one less person you might have to tip. You'll tip just the one instead of both. It may have been an assumption (more of an educated guess actually), but thanks for confirming.

BTW, before you resort to throwing shade, you might want to consider that you are the person gullible enough to think that their Ambassador pin would come with the CEO's name on it. 🙄 Buggs would be referring to you as a color....

That is awesome, but not the own you think it is. Looking past the fact that "sailed all of the other ships" and "sailed just about every ship" are NOT the same things, lets agree that you've sailed NCL a lot. Likely because you enjoy the experience. (at least up until the Prima class ships). Since you've got such a positive experience out of 90% of the fleet, it just makes it even more silly that you would walk away from something you enjoy simply because of a small minority of ships that you don't have to sail on.

NCL offers a wide variety so that everyone can find something that they like, not so that everyone will like everything. If there is a restaurant on a ship you don't like, you simply don't eat there...go to the other restaurants that you do like. You don't stop eating because 100% of the offerings don't appeal to you.

Again, I don't get the all-or-none, my way or the highway, stance.

Let's ask... on the average cruise on a BA+ ship, how many times do you go down the wet slides? And how many times have you been down the dry slides on the Prima and Viva? We have not been on the Viva yet (coming soon), but the dry slides on the Prima are similar to the Abyss that are being added to all of the big Royal Caribbean ships. And since there is only two "new vessels", that are both charging premium prices, I think that it would be fairly easy to sail on the rest of the fleet. Personally, I think that the Prima and Viva are a class above the rest of the cruise industry and reflect what the contemporary cruiser is seeking.... old people like me will sail regardless of the room (which is much nicer and more comfortable than BA+ ships).

There are plenty of brands/companies that I have stopped using due to business decisions they've made that might be right for them but are not for me.  You spend your money the way you want, I'll spend my money the way I want.

Fair enough. Neither you or I ever suggested that someone can't spend their money how they want.

Now you say there are plenty of brands/companies that you've had a similar reaction to? IOW, this is a repeating pattern? Perhaps you might want to consider the possibility (again, possibility) that this repeating condition could be more "you" then it is "them".

I've only ever stated that I don't understand why someone would outright dismiss an entire company simply because of their personal dislike for a small percentage of that company's offerings. (and for some reason it seems to bother you that I have that opinion to the point where you feel you have to repeatedly counter it). Somehow, I doubt that any of us can find a company where we like 100% of everything they offer. So NCL has a couple of ships you don't like, but you like their other ships. Easy to just sail the ones you like and avoid the ones you don't.

I’ve seen some Prima deals starting to happen.  I haven’t even taken my latest cruise embarking in less than 2 weeks, and I’m already shopping for another one again.

Always look forward to try a new ship, especially one that introduces a new concept.

Interesting that you include a tip for both server and bartender when the server brings you a drink???

 I don't think  that's standard.

But It's your$.

We're you a waiter when you were younger and have waiters guilt?

Breakaway, getaway, and escape has a Free ropes course on top instead of racetrack.

I think the breakaway and getaway ropes course is exactly the same while the escape's rope course is a slightly different and supposedly better.

Well, it seems that you and I agree on one thing, but that aside...

What are you actually saying here?

You've admitted that you like to leave the casino to get your own drink from the Atrium Bar. So you have to approach the bar, order your drink from the bartender, and then tip the bartender once he makes your drink.

However

If you place an order with a server, the server goes to the bar, orders your drink from the bartender, the bartender makes your drink, and the server brings it to you then somehow you'll tip the server but not the bartender? Is the level or quality of work performed by the bartender somehow diminished? Why would the bartender deserve a tip in one example and not the other? Do you always nickel and dime like this?
