Bring wine aboard if you do not have beverage package?

We are elite on Celebrity and will be sailing on Constellation.

We do not have any kind of beverage package.

If we bring a bottle of wine aboard for consumption in our cabin, are we required to pay corkage?

Doesn't seem right somehow if we do have to pay.

Why does it not seem right that you have to pay? Most cruise lines are moving toward corkage, and sooner or later it will hit Celebrity too. Elite has nothing to do with anything.

No corkage if you don’t take the bottle to a dining room or restaurant.  You can bring 1 bottle per adult max 2 per cabin.

Read your contract.  Some of the current contracts still stat 2- bottles of wine per drinking age passenger.

For those of you who don't have the beverage pkg (it was given to us by our TA) here's an idea:

You are allowed a bottle of wine each pax, we bring 1.5L each w/o any problem in our carry on.

We also bring a plastic carafe; pour 1/3 wine, 1/3 cranberry and 1/3 orange or grapefruit, add fruit. You can also add some brandy, and viola - Sangria! Stretching out your wine and making it delicious. Enjoy!

Also, being Elite, don't forget the daily 5-7 complimentary drinks.

Here is the info on Captain Club (Elite) benefit:
Captain’s Club daily Elite Cocktail Hour – see Cocktail Hour Menu for details 5–7 PM daily.
Check the link, on Celebrity cruises, for more that you may be missing.

That has changed recently back to 2 bottles.  The cruise line contract allows them to change most anything any time.  Our contract said 1 pp when they changed to 2 and we could bring 2 bottles on board even through our contract said 1.

We took 2 bottles each last month after the change to one each, no problem at check in.
To avoid corkage if you’re taking wine to dinner just fill up your wine glass in the cabin and take it through, they hold nearly 1/2 a bottle each! Also you can then order wine 5-7pm and take that to dinner when your bottles have run dry.

Being savvy when using the Elite 2 hours of free drinks, other than embarkation day, you can leave the ship with a nil drinks account😉.

One glass would barely get me through the dining room doors and to the table. Savvy? Is that a synonym for frugal?

Yes Sangria was born when the vintage was less than satisfactory.  While we do like Sangria it’s good policy to buy a cheap wine. On a hot night on the veranda sangria on ice would be very refreshing. Salud!

Savvy is knowledgeable or street smart. A full glass of wine taken to dinner saves about $30 so not to be sniffed at😉
So one glass of wine hardly gets you through the dining room doors? That’s why you’ve got 2 hands, one glass for each!

The rule is “two bottles per stateroom” as found on the Celebrity Cruises PDF Alcohol Policy: http://media.celebritycruises.com/celebrity/content/en_US/pdf/faq/Cel_Alcohol_Policy_07-30-07.pdf

That is actually outdated, it is 1 bottle per guest.  Which is a bit annoying if you are a solo traveler.
