highSeas22 Posted October 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2023 I need some assistance. I'm the past, I have used onboard credit to pay for gratuities in advance. This upcoming cruise in December, it's asking for my credit card. How do I use obc? Thank you

Wait and let them charge them the last night of the cruise and OBC will cover.

stobe1 Posted October 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2023 (edited) Don't leave any OBC unspent. If you aren't spending money on board or booking shore excursions or eating at specialty restaurants, you can "cash out" OBC either by buying a Carnival gift card on board at Cherry On Top for the amount of OBC that remains, or you can go to a slot machine and charge whatever amount of money you have remaining as OBC to your casino account then go to the casino cage and cash in your casino account. I thought Carnival figured out a way to keep you from being able to do this?

If you do it this way, you better pick a slot machine and spin it a few times.

What is this "unspent" of which you speak? DW is completely opposed to "unspent".🤣 1
Rare ledges1 Posted October 4, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 4, 2023 I had unused once near the end of my cruise. I visited the liquor store.

I was merely trying to pass along some tribal knowledge in the event that it happens. 😄 1
LHARTWICK Posted October 4, 2023 #11 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Do you have to ask for the CCL gift cards at Cherry On Top? I looked for them on the Dream a few weeks ago since we had a lot of OBC to use. I didn't see them. I don't recall seeing them on any of our cruises, but maybe I didn't look hard enough. We did manage to use our OBC: Did a couple of excursions which included bucket list items; my huband bought a watch; used some for our gratuities. We have always asked and been told “oh yes we have them.” They do not seem to be sitting out on counter.

Correct - you ask for them, they are not sitting out anywhere.
VentureMan_2000 Posted October 4, 2023 #15 Share Posted October 4, 2023 You can use it to purchase Cheers before the cruise, if you plan to purchase cheers. Then the Gratuities can be charged to your account.
Crusin Karen Posted October 4, 2023 #16 Share Posted October 4, 2023 This is a bit OT and going to sound dumb but how do you get OBC? In our earlier days we always had a bit. Seems since we turned Diamond I don’t get it anymore. And btw I cruise solo and pay for 2 so it would be nice to get something!

I'm assuming you are not getting any special rates, like from the casino. I've read no OBC for those deals. You can always purchase 100 chares of CCL and get s shareholder OBC that ranges from $50 for cruises 6-days or less, $100 for 7-13 day cruises, and $250 for 14-day or longer cruises.
highSeas22 Posted October 4, 2023 Author #18 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Well. I had 200 onboard credit and I spent it. Ground transportation. I like the bus from Long Beach to the panorama. Since I'm going solo this trip, it's the least expensive trip. I like the fact as you get near the port, the bus goes around the traffic and pulls up to the porters. Easy. Same with the return trip. Walk over to the porter and step into the bus 2.the best wifi. I have 2 and one half days at sea and I can listen to whatever I want. Then 1 and a half days at sea upon returning from Cabo. I have 6 dollars left over. Those are my choices.
DramaQueen22 Posted October 4, 2023 #19 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Good for you! I have the same amount for my solo Elation cruise in January. It's going to my bar tab rather than Cheers! Enjoy your trip!

Husband gets casino rates all the time by mail. He passed away which is why I have been cruising solo.
