Rare aml3679 Posted October 10, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2023 I know that it is a month, I am going to start this review early and update during my cruise and after. Today, is our 38th wedding anniversary. My husband only knew me five days before he asked me to marry him, surprisingly, I said yes. This cruise is to celebrate our mutual retirement. My husband retired almost 2 years ago and it will be a year for me coming up on Halloween. We moved from New Hampshire six years ago. We live on the west coast of Florida. I have three types of arthritis and could not stand being in the cold anymore. We took our first cruise on the celebrity millennium back 12 years ago. It is on the cruise where we renewed our vows after being married for 25 years. That cruise got us very spoiled. It will be our ninth cruise coming up and we have many more that we plan on doing in our lifetime. My husband was an IT specialist For a well-known company and I was a registered nurse. Looking forward to our cruise. Actually, we leave in 25 days for Fort Lauderdale. We are staying in Fort Lauderdale for two days prior to our cruise. Exciting Lee, friends from New Hampshire, are joining us on this cruise . My wonderful husband surprised me and booked a Sky Suite for this cruise. Probably our first and only time in a suite since we are both retired and live on a Social Security budget. Will continue my review in 25 days.
Ciaranaman Posted October 10, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2023 Happy 38th Anniversary! Beautiful pictures! Lucky lucky you, being gifted a SS for your upcoming cruise - that is so exciting! I don't think that will ever be in my future! I look forward to hearing about your trip. What is your itinerary? ~Bernadette
Baggy178 Posted October 10, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2023 (edited) We're on the Silhouette transatlantic cruise coming into Fort Lauderdale so you might have a delayed embarkation while they unload Mrs Baggy's empty bottles.😅 Congrats on the anniversary and a big shout out to your hubby, the old charmer. We husbands get a bad rap sometimes even when it's TOTALLY not our fault but we're all romantics in one way or another. Have a great cruise. ( Love the photos. Hubby has his same game face on every time. Dude looks comfortable in his own skin. Respect.) Edited October 10, 2023 by Baggy178

Rare aml3679 Posted November 4, 2023 Author #9 Share Posted November 4, 2023 Vacation is finally here. Left our home around 930 and went to one of our favorite breakfast spots, Skillets. Drove three and a half hours to Fort Lauderdale. Checked into Marriott Courtyard Airport and Cruise Port. Nice hotel close to the airport and Cruise terminal. The have a shuttle that costs $40 round trip and they charge $10 a day to park. We have friends joining us who’s flight keeps getting delayed. Cannot wait for sail away on Monday.

Rare abbydancer2003 Posted November 6, 2023 #18 Share Posted November 6, 2023 We did the TA on the Silhouette last year, was a great cruise until disembarkation - we finally decided to leave at about 10:30, and weren't in the cab line until 11:55. This was Miami, but I gather that often TA disembarkation is a mess. We really enjoyed the ship, so we'll follow. Congrats on your retirement. By the way, my husband and I got engaged after two weeks of dating.

Rare Jim_Iain Posted November 6, 2023 #24 Share Posted November 6, 2023 Silhouette will be Pier 25 and Equinox Departed yesterday and as you said used Pier 25 Just for information - It would be impossible for two ships to disembark same terminal at the same time.
