Celebrity is Listening

In the past two days I have received phone calls following-up on feedback I have provided Celebrity via emails. My comments were both critical of some items but also positive in terms of ideas.

I encourage everyone to continue to reach out to X with constructive feedback. Both said they very much appreciate ideas and it gets discussed in meetings.

Let us know when they're ready to stop listening/discussing and start taking action.  A good start would be to increase their food budget by reducing the marketing budget that sends out four emails a day

They may be listening but I have yet to see any positive changes.

RCI said the same thing about a lobster tail fee.  I'm sure no one said "Loved the new fee!" or "Booked a suite on board because of the new fee!"; we all know they received nearly all negative feedback and still implemented the fee fleetwide.  RCI's statement on the matter:

I prefer to think of the return to the 100% no smoking/vaping in the casino and not $2.00 cookies as them listening and reacting in a positive manner.

They're 0-2 for recent pilot programs.  The actual reason for the cookiegate uproar was self-inflicting by X with their continued cutbacks and new fees.  Optional premium cookie for a fee today, end of complimentary cookies tomorrow, end of all complimentary treats at Cafe Al Bacio next month, and the $2 cookie fee increases to $12.50 on Jan 1st 😂

I'm quite sure that they know what the fan base is unhappy about,. They just don't care, and i think their motto is " suck it up". Nothing is changing, unless we find a way to get more out of you.

Agree.  Here's a transcript from RCG CEO Jason Liberty:

The comment surprised one of the panelists on the CNBC show, Tyler Mathisen, who asked Mr. Liberty doesn't he want to maintain a land vacation value gap in order to attract customers and keep demand up.

Mr. Liberty responded, "We always want to be as competitive as we possibly can be, but of course, we want that gap to be much smaller."

At least they're emails.  Oceania, Regent and Viking combine for 15-20 flyers per week via snail mail.

The only way we can see positive change is when bookings start to drop. Not until then.

X don't really care if pax are complaining. There will be always somebody who doesn't compare.

There are other cruise lines that will be just as enjoyable as X once was.

So far over past 20 years, we had wonderful cruises on Celebrity - one more is coming up in November. This cruise will determine whether we will book another cruise or going to try another line. We have Princess cruise booked in Mediterranean and MSC YC for the Caribbean for next year.

That would be great news if they add items back to the MDR menu.

They already have.

The problem with the gripes on Cruise Critic is it is a group of about 50 whingers who post over and over.

Stuff like the burgers at Mast Grill.  The beef is frozen and would probably be better if not as lean.  90/10 if frozen is dry.  Comparing to a homemade burger with fresh beef is not a fair comparison.  Try comparing to HAL - we threw ours out - or Princess where burgers sit in a warming dish.  Ugh.

If you look at the threads you literally see 100s of complaints about the food.  Yes that is 100s.  These are cruisers just coming off of the ships.

What items have been added back?

Current menus have been posted ad naseum.

Where are the menus with the items added back in?

I am trying to remain cautiously optimistic.

Is Laura herself working on a ship?

I am trying to remain caustically optimistic.

Infinite verandas are the biggest scam I mean greatest marketing coup in cruising history.

I do not know. My best guess would be others from the executive offices. If they are going to make some changes soon, my view is they know it needs to be rolled out with a high standard of care given everything that has happened.

Agree with the Princess take but disagree on HAL.  The Dive In burgers are hand formed, cooked to order, lots of variations available and pretty darn good, frankly.  IMHO, head and shoulders above Mast Grill.
