We have not heard or seen any signs of covid.  We have heard the usual coughing and sneezing but not too bad.

It's here...Our neighbor has been down with covid (overheard on balcony) and hacking away over the last 5 days. Still went on the excursions anyway 🤨. Plenty of encounters thus far of obviously sick passangers spreading the love around.

From the beginning of the cruise, we have seen around 10% of passengers wearing masks. 

 

Unfortunately, covid is everywhere and here to stay.  That is sad that someone that is ill; whether covid, flu, or a bad cold, would expose the illness to others on an excursion.  🤷‍♂️

We heard rumblings a few days ago that Madeira could be canceled due to a labor strike of the Maritime pilots.  It is now official, Gran Canarias will now replace our stop in Madeira.  I'll post the ship's letter as soon as we receive it.

Yes, unfortunately we got the email overnight. I don't think they have announced yet becuase it concerns the following cruise???

Please be advised that due to a planned nationwide maritime pilots' strike in Portugal, Enchanted Princess will no longer call to Madeira (Funchal), Portugal on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Instead, we will call to Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), Canary Islands from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the same date.

Princess shore excursions for Madeira (Funchal) will be refunded as a credit to your shipboard account. Shore excursions for Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) will be available to book on board

So true! our strategy onboard and in general is social distancing, and masking up when this is not possible e.g. elevators, bus enclosed spaces in addition to hand sanitizing etc.

Just find it really inconsiderate and irresponsible those passangers to not self-isolate when sick.

Sliced Baked Salmon Salad with Caviar and a chicken entree (we can't remember what is was? 🤷‍♂️)

 

We both had the Salmon Salad and the Seared Mustard-Crusted Tuna.  They were both outstanding!

It was Chicken Kiev (or if you prefer Kyiv). Very tasty, and the chicken breast wasn’t dry at all. I was tempted by the smoked salmon salad, but was concerned about the salt levels, so I had my first Caesar salad of the cruise (sans anchovies).

We were going to pass on it also because of the salt, but our Waiter said it was a baked filet of salmon.  It was indeed a nicely baked salmon filet that was sliced over the greens.  We will have it again if offered.  Yum...

Sky Princess missed Ponta Delgada (Azores) one week ago for the same reason.

We had a fantastic day today in Messina!  We were able to meet up with our dear friend (and Maitre'd on the Island Princess), Daniele, for lunch.  It was great catching up in-person and not on Whatsapp.

We took Nicola’s suggestion and went to lunch at Bellavista Ristorante. I’m on the revolving seafood diet - every time I turn around I see food and eat it.

I totally forgot to take photos of the menu last night, sorry. 🤷‍♂️   The extra dishes in the Reserve Collection Dining Room were Spaghetti al Olio with Shrimp and Veal Cannelloni.  We both had the Spaghetti as our main course, delicioso! 

 

We asked our table neighbor, who was dining alone because her DH was having a health issue (not covid) to join us.  We had become friendly over the past week.  We had a lovely dinner and learned a lot about her hometown in Florida.  She is relieved to be disembarking in Rome so they can attend to her DH's issues.

 

And  @c-boy  I didn't forget, here you go!

Just got back from the Tasmanian devil tour. We ran  our aszes off trying to get away from the rascals and worked up a mighty thirst doin' it .. 😁

No line at the Pantheon today for those paying in cash. Long line for those with a voucher or paying with credit card. But it's only 5€ pp so figure out if you want to save 1/2 hr or just drop cash. I was behind 3 people and the only delay was someone trying to redeem the voucher
