Roaming Fees….for the Canadians

Has any Canadians purchased a T-Mobile SIM card from Amazon and have been able to access the network while at sea or on the islands and not be charged extra.  I know it will work in San Juan and St. Thomas but I was curious if the data would work at sea too.

It will not work at sea.

You will be charged roaming while at sea. Without seeing the fine print on the prepaid sim I can't tell you whether you will be charged anything while on land outside the US

If you have a wifi package, use wifi calling.  We use it all the time while at sea and on Cococay and Labadee - works very well (as well as the wifi - lol) and costs nothing (outside of the wifi costs).

It doesn't work on Labadee unless you are particularly close to the ship.

Good question! Without seen what exactly is being purchased it’s hard right know for certain.

My T-Mobile Legacy Pay-As-You-Go SIM (no longer available) roams in many countries + Cellular at Sea.  Usually 50c send/10c receive for texts.  Voice calls vary by country.  The plan has no data.

I suggest you research the Cruising Technology forum. Lots of SIM card information there.
