Kwokpot. We got off around 715*725 and then ordered Uber. We’re at airport before 8. Checked thru one bag, then noticed Southwest had 925 to BWI, versus our 10:40. Unfortunately because we had check bag, couldn’t get the earlier flight. Security was quick at airport at that earlier time. 
 

Unless the ship has delays getting back to port, you should be able to make your flight.

Agreed. Even though it’s just an inside corridor, you would think after four attempts at this, the Celebrity designers could come up with a better use for this space on Edge class. No one wants to walk through a funhouse hall of mirrors, especially after a few drinks.

It's unacceptable at every level. I agree with the comment above about reporting it to the Hotel Manager. I'm guessing they already know, but I think cruisers need to speak up more about it. Just not a good plan for dish removal.

Funhouse is a great description  I named the one on EDGE the "Creepy Forest.".

 

My recollection is that the shorter transition hallways on S class with various themes were much more creative. And  you could see where you were going ....

 

for Ascent I will try to use stairs near BLU,  and otherwise  hang on to my husb who guides me through.

Our dining is in BLU and we like going to EDEN, so it will be hard to avoid!

So I assume you would prefer them to take up space in your stateroom than sitting on the floor in the hallway?  Those are the only places where they can be kept until housekeeping comes in and picks them up. 

 

There are enough post already about how overworked the stateroom attendants already are and now you want them to be available to pick up your room service dishes as soon as you have finished eating so they are not cluttering your room or sitting on the floor in the hallway.

some folks are using them for the first time and go a bit too fast..esp in that hallway! 

 

I think it is also hard to maneuver in and out of elevators... best to all get out so they can get in easier.

Hahahaha, wow, what a response. Seems to include a few assumptions. No, I don't recall saying that I wanted my dishes instantly picked up or that I had an issue with them being in my cabin.  Take care!

So, it is my understanding that we are now paying a room service fee and a 20% tip, also.    It seems to me the 20% tip should include the service and removal of the order as one would expect in the dining room, buffet or restaurant.  

 

Am I missing something?   I have had dishes left in my room by the room steward and have been told to put them outside.   I will plan on clarifying with the room service operator exactly who and when I should expect them to be removed.   The finger is usually pointed at someone else no matter who I ask     😃

I think the OP brings up a good point and perhaps this is an area that is falling thru the cracks of the various teams.   Certainly the hotel manager needs to be apprised so he can sort it out.    
 

Celebrity is fastidious about clearing dishes.   I don’t believe it is an Ascent occurrence as I have had the same issues on other ships.   On my last Princess cruise, there was indeed a trolley in one of the corners that was used for just this purpose.   Not pretty to pass by but better than blocking the hallways.  
 

Everyone appreciates that crews work very hard.   I don’t believe the OP implied otherwise.

This is the default practice on Carnival cruises and it's been repeated over and over that the procedure is to do exactly that, place dishes outside and do not leave them inside. It's more work for the room stewards if you leave them in the cabin. I agree it looks terrible but at least on Carnival that's what they want you to do. 

Having said that some people are just plain STUPID. They will leave mugs and glasses full of liquid that could be spilled. Common sense would be to pour out any liquid down the bathroom sink. I've seen have eaten ice cream cones with ice cream still in the cone left on the floor,melting. Stupid 🤦

 I apologize if I offended, that was not my intent.  However, I am still missing the answer to what your expectation is with regard to these items once you have finished your meal?   Stating that leaving them in the room or putting them in the passageway were the two options, and you stated that  you did not want them in the hallway then I did assume that you had no issue with them being in your room until someone picked them up.

 Yes, unless you are in a suite, there is a $9.95 charge with a 20% service fee for room service, other than continental breakfast in the mornings.  

 

 Are you saying your expectation is for that charge and fee you are expecting the dishes to be cleared almost immediately after you have finished eating, which is how it happens in the dining room, buffet, or restaurant?  Can you image the man power it would take for Celebrity to staff to meet that expectation.

Talking about picking up dirty dishes, we did notice many tables waiting to be cleared in Oceanview afternoons and evenings. No sight of staff, so we move dishes to one already piled with dirty dishes, wiped the table and sat down. Think the table was like that for 15+ minutes. Prior cruises had many crew asking if you wanted drinks, clearing tables. Ascent is still getting into the groove!

SAD DAY  that Celebrity would follow the Carnival operational  guide!  

 

It is unsanitary to leave  dirty dishes on hallway carpets...At a minimum they should  provide a  dirt dish cart at end of the hallway.

 

Next we'll be asked to change our own linens when we board!

We had our one and only dinner in Luminae this evening. Service was great and just as I remember from previous sailings. We shared the turbot and the chicken. Both DH and I had the smoked tomato soup as well. I had the almond cake for dessert while DH had the chocolate tart…which happens to be the same exact chocolate tart that cafe Al Bacio was offering this week only dressed up with some whip cream and chocolate sauce. Food was fine. 
 

After dinner we went to Eden for a last round of Tom the piano man. He’s excellent and if you’re on Ascent any time soon, I highly recommend you look him up. 
 

One more highlight from today…for all you slot players… I rounded out my casino play with a hand pay on the Zeus Orbs machine nearest the exit by Craft Social. I saw a lady get a hand pay from that same machine the day before. 
 

Final thoughts tomorrow…

For the gamblers reading, I also witnessed a handpay (not for me unfortunately!) on the middle Dragon Link machine near the 3 Card Poker table in the middle of the casino on the door side. On a $25 bet, they won $1,500.
