akeasley Posted November 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2023 Hello, I just booked a cruise and my husband is showing up as blue loyalty level instead of platinum. How would I fix this or should I just wait until we board? thanks!
SDWalt Posted November 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2023 Hi- Are you talking about in the Medallion app? I've had several times where my loyalty color was wrong in the app when trying to order the medallion. The easiest way (and only way) to fix this is to contact the Princess customer service people, then they have to forward it over the the "ocean navigator" folks to correct the programming issue. It usually takes a week or 2 to fix. The last time it happened to us, the sent a email notifying me that it was correct. akeasley Posted November 23, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted November 23, 2023 Thanks! I just booked today and when I was emailed the booking info, he was showing as blue. I’ll call the Princess number next week.
Rare charliedalrymple Posted November 23, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2023 I've always wondered about this as well. DH and I have taken every Princess cruise together, but I am listed as Platinum and he is Blue--and not just on the app. I've assumed it was because I always arrange the booking as the "principal" passenger. I also assumed that he would be eligible for any perks I might get as a platinum member regardless of his level, so I don't worry about it. I hope I'm right about that. You should go into his profile on princess.com to see if the same cruises are listed in his cruise history. If so, then you are fine, it’s a glitch. If you will be on a Princess ship soon, the future cruise agents who now handle loyalty issues should be able to correct. If you will not be on a Princess ship, you should call to have this corrected as his status affects , benefits like insurance and WiFi discounts and if his level is not correct he does not automatically get the same benefits as you, even if he is traveling in the same booking as your spouse. Some cruiselines will match the lower level spouse/partner to the higher partner loyalty level as can happen if one cruised enough separately before meeting of even during the partnership which causes an inequity in loyalty level. Princess does NOT do this, each passengers record is their own, no matching partner to highest level of the two.
Rare donswife Posted November 24, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 24, 2023 Did you book on line? A serious glitch with the Princess website is that you can't enter travel companion loyalty numbers, so the system generates a new one. You will have to get CVP or customer service to fix it.

It did this to my husband too when I booked a cruise after they enabled the ability for consumers to book casino cruises on the Princess website. It thought he was a new cruiser as there is no way to input his Captain's Circle number and issued him a new number. The cost of Princess insurance was also higher for him. When I called to get it fixed the "fine" folks on the normal 1-800 number wanted to charge me for changing the second passenger on the booking. And that charge put me into a position where I had to pay it or the booking would cancel. It took an email to Princess corporate to get it fixed. I've recommended to multiple Princess folks since then that they should at a minimum have a box where one can type in the Captain's Circle number of their traveling companion (better yet if they could include a dropdown of passengers you've traveled with in the past as some airlines do but anything would help). It works for some, others like me have a problem with this.

Yes, booked online which I never do since I have a TA. I had just really wanted to catch the sale before the holiday was over. Lesson learned! Thanks so much for this! As luck would have it, we will be on a Princess cruise in a little over three weeks and I try to get it fixed then. Anything other than trying to call the customer "service" phone number.
eaflorida Posted November 25, 2023 #11 Share Posted November 25, 2023 Dumb question. I am currently Ruby status with 49 cruise nights. I understand that you need 50 cruise nights to become platinum. I have a cruise upcoming. Will my loyalty status remain Ruby on my next cruise, or after the 1st night will I become platinum?

You'll stay at Ruby. Loyalty level is adjusted after the cruise is completed.

akeasley Posted November 26, 2023 Author #14 Share Posted November 26, 2023 I ended up using the princess website chat and was emailed a reservation transfer request form. I filled it out with my TA information and emailed it to the address provided. Hopefully my TA will be able to straighten it out. Lesson learned is to let her know about future cruises I want to book and not book them myself online.
Rare Bedruthen Posted November 27, 2023 #15 Share Posted November 27, 2023 Loyalty level is meaningless. 900 elites on our Sky Princess cruise. Embarkation lounge so crowded we didn’t bother. Three days in to the cruise before our minibar was set up. Didn’t even bother with laundry as we spoke to so many still waiting for it to be returned. Pointless.

Pointless. Did you tell your room steward to set the mini bar up right away? Did you report the laundry problem? If you want to see change you need to report it to those who can help you on-board the ship. I realize you must be frustrated but this forum cannot solve the problems you listed. I wish you well and hope you find resolution to your complaints.

For some reason they're all deciding to take cruises about now.
