Compensation for cancelled port visit

Built into the cost of your cruise are port fees and taxes.  If a port is skipped, the port fees are not paid to the skipped port.  If no passenger reimbursement for skipped ports, guess who keeps those $$?

we did not ask for or expect compensation and know Viking has the right to make substitutions.. We were pleased to receive 25% for the broken engine (which was very new and still under warranty). It was to Viking's advantage to keep everyone happy and leave with good feelings. The notice about credit was in our email the day we got home

While we have been aware for six months that the port of Dunedin would not happen due to Christmas, we received a gift today.  $150 on board credit which is fair.  This is per person.

$300 for the two of you ,that's nice if they would have told you before you selected your excursions! What the heck are you going to do with that!  Can you use them for massages or is that a private company not part of the OBC ?. Also have you seen any on board cooking classes scheduled during your sea days? We have done a few on Orion and they were really fun .

Very nice!  Can you use it for gratuities?  Or treat yourselves to the spa!

OBC is that, onboard credit as described in FAQ section of the website.  Salon, store, bar.  Many opportunities to use it.  A hat at $45 took one third of my portion.

I would call Viking customer service. Explain your experience. I received an email from Viking maybe 2 weeks after we returned home. Similar situation

dw used our $400 OBC from shortened Bora Bora visit to take 7 kitchen table cooking classes.   Gladly paid out of pocket for the most expensive one, $259 for shopping on shore with chef Joseph in San Diego and later assisting him in cooking a 6 course gourmet dinner.

I neglected to say in my earlier post (#11) that the only refund I was querying was in regard to port fees as I assumed they were included in the fare. I had no expectation of compensation for a missed independent tour.

On the same cruise our toilet would not flush one morning. Apparently, when one in the same area plugs the whole system for that area shuts down - and someone had tried to flush a rubber duckie. Another polite e-mail - another $1,000.

We missed Bornholm a few years ago. I wonder if it’s retroactive 🤗

How long did it take for a response? We missed five river ports and four Christmas markets.

I am so sorry that you missed SO VERY much of your cruise.  it sounds the worse ever....I hope you get adequately compensated but I amnot sure that is even possible considering the great distance you traveled.  It seems that the weather this winter season and high water levels was so much worse than ever before.
