One minor change on Equinox...we were btb in December and paper cups in Oceanview are only available at the bar forward port side oceanview...they were available at the coffee stations but not anymore...you have to ask for a cup and lid...

Hmmm good to know.  We were going to Al Bacchio for takeout coffee as we could not find paper cups in ovc.

Which cruise were you on when you saw teens running the halls? We have done 3 post covid, 28 nights in all, not seen this happen once.

Celebrity Beyond, Italy/Greek Islands/Turkey, last July. Little kids, too, leaving empty plates on stairs and dropping bowls down the stairwells.

Bad parenting, not sure what Celebrity or any other holiday providing company can do to stop that. Sure it’s not a new thing either, I remember seeing badly behaved children on holidays I took as a kid.

At least Carnival are honest about the product they sell. It’s a cheap no frills budget experience.

actually, our first Celebrity cruise - one week on Reflection for Spring break 2024 - is the same price as our first Carnival cruise on Horizon for Thanksgiving 2024 (also one week). Not sure who spreads rumors that Carnival sells their experience for cheap.

Neither cruise is actually cheap compared to our previous and future cruises on Princess, RCI and MSC.

IMO, the "cheap" designation comes from the fact that Carnival was the line that sailed so many short 3 and 4 day itineraries. Short cruises = Cheap cruises. That said, with Reflection and Silhouette short Bahamas cruises, Celebrity appears to be trying to wrestle that label away from Carnival.

The balcony on the Regal Princess class ships are quite small.

We board Equinox in about an hour (December 19, 2023).  It probably will not be perfect, but our balcony cabin WAS cheap.

My expectations are not too high, so they should be easily met.

Even on our Viking Ocean cruise there was room for improvement.

I agree, not a fan of Viking

No cruise or vacation has ever been perfect.

But we have had a great time on every one.

It's all about attitude.

Celebrity pre pandemic had several cruises that were very close to perfect.

We have not sailed Carnival as their cruisers were overly intoxicated before boarding…

So you turned up to cruise, saw them drunk, so didn’t bother?

All of them? Kids included? What, were they giving breathelizers? A friend wants to know in case he/she decides to try Carnival.

Not on our Carnival cruise...it was 2 weeks to Hawaii.

Now, spring break, Celebrity ship full of FSU students...yep, plenty of early (and constant) intoxication.

Our Carnival bartenders said the key to Carnival is longer cruises as the short ones tend to be booze cruises.

We too did a Carnival Miracle 14 day Hawaii cruise back in February with no complaints. But, the wife and I both decided that 4 sea days each way was too much for us.

Just saw a TV ad for Carnival which is about  how they do fun! Not sure what that means?

We ended up w/ 5 outbound due to a medical emergency requiring us to head back toward the US after about 12 hours out.

We LOVE sea days.

We have 7 in a row in April on our transatlantic; only 4 ports over 16 days. WOO HOO.

You’re having bad luck. It can happen on any holiday anywhere.

Not bad luck.  Neither the crew or parents are putting a stop to it.  It is occurring every night.  I must be cruising on Carnival 😂

I think it was/is moreso the old, dated, smaller ships.

The oldest ships in the Carnival, Celebrity, RCL, NCL and Princess fleets were all built in the late 90's.

If it can happen on any holiday anywhere, perhaps you are having extraordinarily good luck with your 28 nights.

Maybe. Seen kids behaving badly plenty of times when we’ve had holidays in Europe but never on cruises. Hopefully our run of good luck on cruises will continue.

We were on a different ship thank god.  We were catching a shuttle to our ships from a park and ride hotel.

I have zero interest in a booze cruise.

Actually the oldest ship in the Celebrity fleet Millennium was built in 2000 (ok I guess technically built in 1999 but joined the fleet in 2000).

True, but the "older" ships vary quite a bit when comparing Carnival to Royal.

Carnival has 17 of it's 27 ships in it's fleet that date 2010 or older, with the average passenger count of those ships at 2800.  On average the ships have less venues and activities to offer.

Royal has 18 of it's 26 ships in it's fleet that date 2010 or older, but the average passenger count of those ships at 3800.  Even going back to 1999, the Voyager class was 4000 guests and 138,000 gross tons, and included the innovative Royal Promenade, ice skating rinks, expansive venues and activities.

I just think Royal's fleet as a whole is more innovative, with more to do, and better maintained.

Not knocking Carnival, just looking at them objectively and why Royal maybe can demand a higher price on average.
