Even though each account was settled to the same credit card we had registered when we checked in at the pier, because they were not linked, the non-refundable OBC in DH's account was not applied to offset my charges

2 Weeks ago on SKY, noticed on Day 2 that my partner was not able to see my transactions and vice versa, quick trip to GS and got both on my card.

The account with NO card entered for Shoreside 👍🏻

Great tips to share!  Thank you!

If we’re checking in via the blue lane, could we ask to confirm then if our onboard accounts are linked?

If we aren’t able to see each other’s folios, then does that mean, the accounts aren’t linked?  In the past, we’ve used my credit card for onboard purchases and I could see both mine and my DH account but for some reason he could only see his charges and couldn’t see mine. So maybe I’ll check the folio to make sure I can at least see his account.

After reading many of the posts in this thread, I am not inclined to DL the new app. 🤣   But the comments regarding the shoreside transactions and credit card info going to a third party have made me curious.  I wonder how they would handle a virtual acct number?  I have a CitiBank card that allows for a virtual number creation that you can assign a specific use for that number.  For example, I have a couple of virtual numbers that are only used for Amazon purchases, or other online shopping.  Main purpose is to be able to track exactly who used the virtual number, and not my regular/actual card information.  I don't have another cruise for a few months, so I'm not going to mess with the new app until I have to. Hopefully the bugs will be worked out in the new year.

Correct if you can’t see each others folios, you are on your own CC and not linked.

No harm in asking or trying on boarding day check in

(let us know if they can or do).

Nancy

Thanks for your reply! I’ll be sure to check my folio onboard early on.

Our next sailing is on 4/3 and will report back on if the linking can be confirmed at port check in.

From experience, there may be a wrinkle other than being in the Blue Lane when choosing to withhold your credit card information from Shoreside Transactions section to be aware of.  We did not find out until after disembarking that choosing to uncheck the box for Radiqal meant our onboard accounts were not linked.  Even though each account was settled to the same credit card we had registered when we checked in at the pier, because they were not linked, the non-refundable OBC in DH's account was not applied to offset my charges.  We did finally get resolution over a year later, but it was a nuisance, and ever since I have gone to Guest Services to be sure that the accounts were linked.  Just thought worth mentioning if it helps someone else avoid the same pitfall.

Very interesting - we ran into a similar instance the last night of our cruise in November. I noticed I had a OBC still left on my account but my wife had a balance owing. I thought they'd just cancel it out but for whatever reason, on the last night I popped up to check. They linked the accounts then and all was well. Looking back on it, I didn't check the shoreside account in the app either. That must be why, as you point out. I'll be sure to make sure they're linked on our upcoming cruise in Feb on the Sky.

With regards to luggage tags, choosing that tab takes you to the web page of your Princess.com online reservation, so the steps for printing them out haven't changed.  That's the same thing as choosing the Excursions tab from the app, you're redirected to the online reservation to complete that task there as well.  As far as the timing of when that tab becomes available, I can tell you it's there for my cruise in four days, but not for the cruise in 132 days.

Interesting... noticed I was "Ready to Sail" for the cruise that's 132 days out so I dug a little deeper into that and discovered that my credit card has been authorized (not by me) for Shoreside Transactions.  So, I tried Steelers36's suggestion of removing the credit card from Shoreside Transactions.  The card is still listed for my Onboard Transactions, but I am no longer ready to sail as only 6 out of 7 items have been completed.  When I looked at DH's reservation, there are no separate tabs for online or shoreside, and the card data appears as the default under his Payment Methods, so he's still set to sail.  And, his Elite status is showing correctly.

Continuing my beta testing quest, I logged out of my profile, relogged in using my next cruise booking number, and sure enough, I am no longer "Ready to Sail" in 4 days as I now need to provide the credit card information for shoreside transactions.  (Not happenin'!)

Good thing I was already quite happy to be in the Blue Lane anyway.  🤣

What you experienced is what I would expect.  The idea was to order Medallions while Shoreside is active and then remove the CC from there if desired.  Have you ordered Medallion for the future 132 days out voyage?

LOL. Just for kicks I did a little research on Radiqal LLC. They're a company supposedly from a town in PA however, when you dig deeper you discover they are from India. All their development is done out of India. No doubt, the company in PA is nothing more than a shell company for the real location, India, where s/w developers work for a fraction of what they'd get in the US. I work in the IT industry and have for over 25 years, my experience is that you get what you pay for when it comes to IT.

The company website is amateurish to say the least and the "Meet the Team" section consists of 3 people all from India with their pictures not shown, just an icon. I did a cursory check on LinkedIN and discovered very little about this company. I can only find 3 employees, all from India. There must be more, but I can't find them.

As for what this company does for Carnival - they provide Casino and Accounting Management. Why would they need my info?

Regarding the information they get from you if you use their services - you can get this from their site: Payment Intent token, name on your CC, ship you are sailing on, your photo, email, phone number birth-date, preferences, reviews and feedback. What could possibly go wrong handing all that over to a company in India?

So I find myself asking a question: If my information gets stolen because of this company, what's the chances that Carnival Corp will step up and take ownership? I think we all know the answer to that one.

So yeah, think I'll pass on sending all that info over to this company. I'll do what I always do when I step off a ship - cash is king.

Reads like they do not get the actual credit card number.  IMO, I don't see why they would need it.

I’ve had no issue with booking reservations for that very cruise.  Perhaps try booking it in the old app, take a screen so you at least have a reservation.   If all fails, we have two reservations for the Catch for 5:20 PM and will give one up if you would like that snag that time frame.

BTW, I just checked on the old app and there are a myriad of times available for booking for the Catch.  I have an assumption that many of the tables are left open to make onboard.  Too many times in the past, large groups have booked up all the tables and those with premier packages couldn’t get a reservation once onboard.

There's 2 other threads with this issue. For those of us that can't book The Catch, we've tried old app, new app, website, chat, and calling. Every method gets an error regardless of day, time, or method. Support hasn't been able to help as they get an error also. All other SD's can be booked with no problems. It's very frustrating.

Rather than confirming at check-in, go to Guest Services at your leisure once you're onboard.  As long as you've got it straightened out before you disembark you should be okay.

I've always found that the lead passenger can see both folios, but the authorized user can only see his/her own, so I don't believe that would be a reliable indicator.  At this point, I cannot remember if I was conscious of not being able to see his on that particular cruise, so can't rule it out.

Yes, but I've ordered them for port pick-up as we don't have a package and it's not worth $10 to me just to have them in hand when we arrive at the pier.  (Not even the sake of beta testing.  🤭)

Sounds like just the thing.  Setup a new virtual number for Shoreside and never use it.

Our accounts are always on different credit cards ever since I traveled solo.  It never would allow me to authorize my DH under my credit card on the old app so, we just go to the guest services desk on day 1 and get them combined.  It’s a good way to get to know one of the guest services reps anyway .. you know, not going with a complaint but just a simple request.  I’m not about to try fixing it so, will just roll with it on the new app as it is working properly for me at this point.

And yes, if you can’t see both folios on your journey account, your accounts are not combined.

Oh, this just keeps getting better and better.  I was trying to access my June cruise data to see if the way to print the luggage tags could be seen on the app prior to final payment, and now the app will only allow me access to my cruise that's on Thursday.  I have logged out, closed the app, rebooted my device and tried two different booking numbers and it is STILL coming up with the one that's in three days.  So, would this be because I'm three days out, or because I am no longer Ready to Cruise having disabled that authorization earlier today?  I'm done.  I'll show up in the Blue Lane on Thursday - where I expected to be because I didn't have the Medallions shipped to my home - and deal with having to provide my credit card, make sure our onboard accounts are linked and spend my cruise monitoring the portfolio.  Yep, this app sure is making my cruise memorable!  🤷‍♂️

Just as an aside, there are no vendors that accept MedallionPay on this itinerary - thank goodness I was able to access the list to figure that out. 🤣

Just changed to the new app and my first complaint would be for changes to dinner reservations.  Whilst there is an edit button it only permits changes to time and shared or private.

If you want to switch to another restaurant you need to delete and save, then move to the other restaurant and make a brand new booking, which might not be available at the same time or shared or not.

It would be much better if changes could all be done at the same time.

Will you please post how your embarkation process worked. Think we will be blue lane too as I didn't include CC # for Shoreside.  TIA

Lucky you 🙂…I have tried it numerous times on the original app including now & it always fails despite showing availability.

I even deleted my MDR reservation & still get this attached message. We’re paid in full, have Medallions ordered prior to requiring shipping fee for standard fares and are currently in the Green lane. I will not install the new app since they have mandated giving c/c info for the shoreside purchases scheme unlike in the original app where it was not mandatory. I will not use the new app unless Princess rescinds the requirement to give my c/c & personal info to Radiqal which is awful.

I appreciate your generous offer to give up one of your reservations however like others we cannot make a Catch reservation on the app, on the online version nor by contacting Princess. All failed for booking Catch which Princess said must be caused by a glitch in their system…fix it Princess! 🙄

Because it’s a mandatory field what should we do?  Not provide are cc information in the App. At Port, are they going to make it mandatory and then what?

Personally, I think it’s a computer software “bug” which will be resolved in the next Princess App update IF the passenger is an authorized user of someone else’s credit card, as in our case where I’m an authorized user of my DW’s posted credit card. But then that’s just my opinion from over here in the peanut gallery. 😁

Ah, I must have missed that comment.  I have been reading a page or two here and there, that makes sense I hadn't seen it.  I'll see if he posts an update at some point.

Agree! I’m keeping the old app installed and not downloading the new app. Hoping they won’t do away with the old app before our 4/3 cruise!

Me too!🤞

Their webpage states the old app will be available until 2/1 however even the new app’s implementation date was delayed by over 3 weeks. Hopefully all of the issues will be corrected before our cruise however since even the old one still had issues for some people doubt if they’ll correct most of them before dropping the old app. I try to be optimistic however based on their track record I am skeptical that all of the issues will be corrected soon…it’s like déjà vu!

I’m so sorry to hear it is giving you such trouble.
Be sure to try to get reservations as soon as you board .. if you can’t, my offer still stands.  I will just go twice if you don’t care to take my time slot.
