Will Royal do another world cruise?

We were on Segment 1 of the WC from Miami to LA and the time flew by much faster than I expected. I would like to see a fairly port intensive WC of 4-5 months leaving after Christmas. I don’t think I would ever do a cruise over Christmas again - missed spending time with  family too much.

I seriously doubt it.  From what I hear and read....RCI lost money on this cruise.

It is still suffering from stupid snafus.

Like when we were rejoining the cruise in Barcelona last week for fourth quarter.  The usual check in process at the terminal went well, we get up to the "ding in" on the life boat deck and they told us we could not check in without our sea pass card.  Whaaatt????  Told the security woman that we don't get the card until we board the ship.  She said corporate orders no one on without sea pass card.

Waiting in the hot Barcelona sun on deck for over half hour while they finally realized stupid was not working. 😣 They had to check us in manually, since our printed out set sail pass did not work.  By then there were two long lines waiting to ding in.

We also had major snafus upon checking in for first quarter in Miami.  I for one, will never do a Royal WC again!!!!

as inconvenient and uncomfortable that must have been for you, I don't really see it as a reason Royal would choose never to plan another world cruise.   Lack of revenue coming from the casino and specialty dining, I could.

What works for us is the split up.  First quarter, 63 nights.  Hop off in LA, rejoin in Barcelona for the last quarter, 62 nights.

Did you cruise during your time off Serenade?  I hope you're enjoying reacquainting yourself with some of your fellow passengers. 🙂

We are looking at winter 2026-Spring 2027. They usually leave around the end of December/ beginning of January, but their itineraries haven’t been released yet.

We definitely want to do Silverseas.  We are booked up into mid 2026...but am on the hunt for the 26/27 season.  🙂

Yes we did.  🙂  Both Allure and Wonder.  Plus a month out in Willamette Valley wine country, and setting up our daughter's wedding out there.

It's great to reconnect to our friends on board again.  And of course...what crew members are still here, that we were on board with during first quarter.  Having a great time!!

We were on Allure right after the restart, and the staff outnumbered the passengers - the ship felt dead - there was no vibe at all.

We were on the Allure for the test cruise. Only 650 passengers and it was a ghost town.

I'd love for RC to do a world cruise every couple of years or so.  Sure they would likely not be as long as the current 9 month one though. Nor be as "ultimate" with it's inclusions for full WC's as the current cruise.  It would give those of us C&A members, who are not yet at the times in our lives to be able to do a world cruise but would like to, something to aim for.   So I wonder how much credibility there is in the rumour that Micheal Bayley will announce another RC world cruise when he's in Coca Cay with the current world cruise just before it ends...

I can see a WC that is half length.  Though that is what we made it as for ourselves.  (1st quarter, last quarter) totaling 125 nights.  Maybe a 120 night, that can be broken in two sixty nights?

These mini segment break ups are annoying for us...... IMHO.  Luckily we have the same cabin for each 63/62 night quarters.

I was one of the annoying mini segmenters as we cruised from Singapore to Dubai over 15 nights on the UWC. As soon as RC announced they were doing a WC, I was pretty sure that I'd like to do a RC WC when we get to retirement age (or earlier if we happen to win Lotto 🤣) and, our time onboard that special cruise, definitely reconfirmed my feelings ❤️

The formality of being a "turn around day"....when we never booked it that way.  The mini segments came much later after the quarters were being booked.

And, no other cruise line that routinely does WC’s does them that way. Cunard comes the closest with 4-6 segments. Most of the other lines do 1-3 segments total. Also every other line ranges between 100 -150 nights at sea. There are a lot of choices out there to fit almost anyone’s criteria.

Everything comes to a halt when you are cycling a new batch on and an exiting batch off every two weeks.

I hadn't thought of that, I was thinking about the luggage in the hallway.

There's no activities or port access for the non-departing people?  That would definitely be annoying and very frustrating.

We did 2 segments from June 20 - July 10. The second segment everyone - including those that were doing the full world cruise - had to stand in line by the theatre to recheck in I guess…. In our case we had to get new cards for that segment, not sure what the others did, but they were all in line and a lot of them were complaining about it.  So in that way, they were affected a bit.

It was also noticeable around the ship when the new cruisers got on that day. They were loud and everywhere, a bit chaotic, which is normal for people excited about a cruise, it changed the vibe of the ship for awhile.

There definitely was port access, as it is if you’re doing a B2B on any ship.

LOL...it's still doable.   Things could be worse....and in fact, the one good thing is...three more bottles of wine with start of each mini leg.  😄

We only get two, but that’s enough for us …. I wanted to tell you that when we were just on Serenade, I got tired of their not so great Chardonnay, and tried your Kim Crawford Sauvignon and we both loved it! I hope there was some left for you when you got on.😁

On first quarter it was so annoying how much they kept running out of Kim Crawford.  It's become very popular, especially being included in the unlimited drink package.  Finally ran into that situation in the WJ yesterday for lunch, but luckily still in supply in the CL.  Though our favorite bartender is stashing it away for the few of us that drink it every night.  🙂

Not a Chard fan myself.  My go to wines are NZ Sauvignon Blancs.  🥰

Have not touched my comped wine yet, which is Peter Yealands NZ SB..  Saving that for when the whole ship runs out of KC.  😉

Plenty of Kim Crawford in the MDR. I've been offered it by our server each night.

Not sure who your favorite bartender is, but we never had a problem at the R Bar. Reynold would see me coming an pour a glass 😁

Lol.  Kim Crawford.  Twice now when I’ve asked for it the bar staff has substituted another one. They always act surprised when I catch them….

We love KC with dinner!
