Rare jaycruising Posted January 6 #1 Share Posted January 6 We have a cruise coming up in a month and we will buy FCC while on the ship, but in the meantime we found another cruise we would like to book and I really like the price right now and want to hold it. Once I buy my FCC will I be able to switch it over to this booking or will I have to cancel and rebook to use it?

You will need to cancel and rebook to take advantage of the OBC as you have already put a deposit on the cruise.
Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted January 6 #4 Share Posted January 6 If you *do* decide to cancel...just be aware that there may be a few days before your FCD reappears back in your account. Many people have been burned in thinking that it is "instant" when they wanted to cancel & rebook the same day.
skynight Posted January 6 #5 Share Posted January 6 Let me understand. You are going on a cruise in a month, cruise #1. On that cruise you will purchase Future Cruise Deposits (FCDs). Right now there is a cruise you wish or have booked, cruise #2, that sails after you disembark cruise #1. You have booked this cruise and placed a deposit for it. After you disembark cruise #1 you wish to apply the FCDs purchased on board that cruise to cruise #2. The way you explain it you can apply the FCDs to cruise #2, BUT you will not receive the OBC. In effect you will just be increasing your deposit amount. In order to be eligible for the $100 deposit and the associated OBC you would have to cancel the the booking for cruise #2 and re-book using the FCDs. You would have to do the math to see if it is worth it. Another option is speak with the cruise consultant on board cruise #1. He/she may be able to do something. wallyj Posted January 6 #6 Share Posted January 6 @jaycruising, the reason you would not be able to use a FCD bought on cruise #1 on cruise #2 is your ‘acquired’ date of the FCD will be ‘after’ your booking/deposit date of cruise #2. A long time ago, Princess would ‘backdate’ a FCD so you would be able to use in your case, but they no longer will do this. So, you will need to cancel cruise #2 and rebook in order to use your new FCD, but of course if the fare has changed or a promo has been dropped, it might not make sense to rebook just to get the OBC with using a FCD. Get a FCD anyways, since they are fully refundable if you do not use. If you know someone currently on a Princess ship they can purchase a FCD now, which you will reimburse them, for you. They will need your Captain circle number and other ID info like your birthdate , or address on file to verify your Captain circle number is correct. JF - retired RRT Posted January 6 #7 Share Posted January 6 We're in the same situation right now. We cruise at the end of this month and have already booked a cruise for 2026 without a FCD. We use a CVP on occasion. I asked him if we could apply newly purchased FCDs to the 2026 cruise. He stated that he would "protect" the cabin that we chose and apply the FCD. The only problem would be if the price has gone up. We'll have to pay the increased price. Not real worried about that, since the cruise is so far out. Thrak Posted January 7 #8 Share Posted January 7 Trust me. Sometimes it is okay to cancel and rebook using a new FCD. On our recent cruises the last three segments were booked without FCD (because we didn't have any due to my complete stupidity and an "extreme old person moment". As we got closer to sailing the last two segments (a 4 day and a 14 day) had big price drops. As I had, in the meantime, done another sailing and purchased more FCD I cancelled those two segments and rebooked. Due to the FCD, a new promo, and the price drop I gained an extra $1,135 in OBC. Like I said, sometimes it can really pay off. You just have to watch the cruise fare. Most of the time it increases but, once in a while, it goes down and a new promo pops up and you win!!!

If you refare in order to apply FCD (for OBC) you will run the risk of losing any promotions and/or “the right price”.
phabric Posted January 7 #10 Share Posted January 7 (edited) I booked a cruise for Aug 2025 with no FCD and no OBC promo. I am sailing in Feb. I plan on taking out a FCD. While at the Future Cruise desk, I will ask what the price of my Aug 2025 cruise. If it is the same price as I presently have, I will have him book the same cruise and apply the FCD so I get OBC. I will email my agent to cancel my present booking and transfer my deposit over to my new booking and watch for the new booking from the ship. Left the ship with $657 AUD Refundable OBC still in our account. Received a check for $428 USD not too long after we got home. We did take a quite spendy excursion out to one of the pontoons anchored out at the Great Barrier Reef but it made my wife really happy so it was well worth the cost.
