I tried that once and even THAT didn't work. The pictures were good enough for a passport but not good enough for Royal Caribbean? That's when I gave up and just let them take them at the pier.

Is this Express Pass thing similar to The Key (which I purchased) for embarkation? Haven't sailed on RCCL for a while.

Some lines will not let you use the same picture as used for your passport. Disney for sure will not. They'll reject the head shot if it's the same picture.

If you open check in on the Royal website it lets you pick a photo. I have always checked in on the app and took a terrible selfie then later have gone on the website and changed it without issue.

Great idea!  I always check in with the app now so I never noticed that.  I just did that so we will see if they like and accept our pictures. 🙂

No, I'm not so sure anyone know what the Express pass is yet...

 

The Key gives you some benefits similar to suite benefits without being in a suite.  Express pass is likely just a sped up boarding process.

The gate agent scanned my seapass card and I was on my way. That's pretty much all the express pass did for me. 

So, basically not a huge time saver.

"that is correct. I had my pass scanned by the woman standing at the rope area and then went directly to the sitting down area. No pictures or talking to anyone at the big long desk area.

It may seem like not much diff to you but being able to skip the check in agent line and the agent, is probably a big deal to RCI.

Yep, they always have to redo them, even if I use my passport photo.
