Carnival Splendor Singapore to Australia in August 2024

Recommended Posts

Hi Folk. We are doing this cruise as the return from Syd /Sing in July, after Splendor drydock.

As we will be in Singapore for 3 weeks in May /June, we are thinking of flying over to the Philippines for a week or so, (to catch up with friends we met on a cruise) during the 3 weeks Splendor is in drydock. We try to get to Singapore once or twice each year, so are very familiar with it. Love going there.

We did a similar trip on Spirit, when she went up for drydock a few years ago. While in Singapore, one day we caught a bus around to the dry dock where Spirit was getting refurbed, just for a look-see. Of course, couldn't get near, but could see her from the hill. It was a good way to see more of Singapore that we hadn't been to. Lovely Black and White colonial houses out that way.

I am on a Princess CC for a cruise in April this year. a lot of people joined in the last couple of months, so still plenty of time for people to get on board.

You will find way more active roll calls on other sites which cannot be mentioned here. One in particular that is a very popular social media. 🙂

I am on one of those social media sites for another cruise, but have decided not to join for this cruise, as some nasty stuff can come up. Yes, you can report it and it is deleted if the admin has missed it, but I had one where I became the brunt of some trolling. It was someone who had joined as anonymous, at that stage anonymous was allowed on that site. It made me feel quite sick, so after reporting, and admin changed to no anonymous posts, and removed the posts, I turned the group off for the rest of the month. Most people were great, and so much help was given, but I prefer CC.

Certainly, since covid the CC posts have gone down, and as you say social media now is used by more people for posting.

Unfortunately, CC roll calls aren't as popular as they used to be.

May improve with time.😁

They are what “we” make them.  There is no doubt that roll calls have shriveled on the vine, the reasons why are unanswered questions.  I can recall one here for the Breeze when she first came out that had hundreds of active participants.

I sign up for roll calls for all of my cruises on that popular social media site. For the last cruise I took, there were over 1000 members.

I use it for shore excursion advice and such. I don't participate in slot pulls or shotglass exchanges or the like.

I was not debating whether they are popular on FB, but rather their popularity (or not) here.

I have also had trolling problems with that social media site and now refuse to look at it.  It's my choice. If anyone is going on this cruise from Singapore to Sydney and wants other participants in any private shore excursions, let me know here.

I don’t belong to that other sight for reasons mentioned, plus it’s just not very private, and I like to keep my life private. And for me personally, I enjoy less people.

Most of my roll calls on Cruise Critic for unique cruises are pretty active, but I’m wondering since the OP is from Australia, if a cruise that doesn’t originate or end in the US, like a TP, just doesn’t draw as many Cruise Critic folks.

I’m on the Panorama in Oct. from Singapore to Long Beach and it’s been pretty active.

I sailed the Splendor from Long Beach to Sydney back in 2019, and we had a pretty active Roll Call then also.
