Grand Suite 1 Bedroom (Allure OTS) Question

Recommended Posts

For those who opted for a grand suite 1 bedroom I am curious your thoughts? Looks like it has some great benefits. My wife and I are older and our kids are grown. I like the fact there is a suite lounge to hang out in.

Read some Oasis class Sky class suite related threads, then if you have something specific, ask away.

Like many other aspects of cruising, it depends on your objectives.  Personally, I loved the suite perks with a great daily happy hour, reserved seating at several venues and access to the Coastal Kitchen.  Our Allure concierges were wonderful and very helpful.  The extra space in the room was appreciated with the downside being access to the shower.  It's in the bathtub which has tall sides and is difficult for people with shorter legs to jump in.

Is it worth the cost?  Only you can decide.

Some things you will do differently with a grand suite on Oasis class:

Don't buy an Internet package, each person in the suite gets a Voom package.

Don't worry about booking shows, the suite concierge will book shows for you. Let them know if you have any scheduling requests.

Ask your concierge to book dinners for you in advance, both specialty dining and Coastal Kitchen reservations.

Anything you would go to guest services for, go to your concierge instead. No need to wait in line, the concierge is a member of the guest services team.

We enjoy getting together in the suite lounge before dinner for a drink and hors d'oeuvres. And/or drinks and dessert after dinner before the show.

I would add that it's great to have such a large bathroom - both of you can get ready at the same time!  Two sinks.  In addition to getting on first,  you can also disembark first and get a concierge escort in certain ports.  We enjoy the daily happy hour, getting lattes in the morning and having a nice space to just relax during the day sometimes that is nice and quiet.

If I may jump in, can anyone who has sailed in this room category let me know if a roll-away bed would fit in this space? I have this booked for 3-people on my next cruise, however, we may have a 4th joining us. It's a "Girls Cruise" so we don't care about being a bit cramped but I don't think sharing the sofa bed is gonna work...I can't tell from the photos if a roll-away would fit without removing furniture. Thanks for any opinions!

We almost always book grand suites , we did allure a couple of years ago and enjoyed it , suite lounge has a 3 hour happy hour where you can order your drinks at the bar or there is table service with waiters, wine beer and water are available all day.

Get To - I don't think a rollaway bed would work on harmony since it has a "wall" between the sitting area and bed.  There's nowhere to put it.  You would have to make do with the sofa bed.

It really becomes a different ship with sky class and above suites.  Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen are game changers for me when I don't like buffets or fighting crowds for food, especially on sea days.

Depends on which ship. On Oasis and Allure it may fit because the TV swings out from the outside wall between the windows and the balcony door, but on the newer Oasis class ships (Harmony and Symphony) there is a TV wall between the bed and the sofa that chews up a lot of space

We almost always book GS really big enough for two but love the walk in shower in owners suite in grand suite you have to climb into tub for shower , other difference is owners has small dining table which is great if you order room service.

Our favorite suite is the Crown Loft- close to costal kitchen and suite lounge- seaview quiet- two bathrooms and tons of storage. Some cannot do steps- but if you can, it is heaven!  We also enjoy the Grand suites-

IMO once you have the suite perks- including the suite deck- hard to go back to any other cabin/suite.

Enjoy your cruise
