Hard to beat that deal. That was because CO is included with the Neptune Suite. CO is not included with the Signature Suites So the question "can you play the CO upgrade game" if you move to a different category after final payment remains, and one your TA should inquire about. I would think this would be a cancel and rebook situation and subject to those terms. Rather than waiting for HAL to send you one, I would call Inventory and see if any upsell offers for a Signature or Neptune exist for your sailing, that way your CO would follow you in the case of the Signature Suite(and you'll get choice of available cabin), or be refunded if you upsell to Neptune. The upsell price of a Neptune might be cheaper than the Signature upsell price, once the CO is refunded. Edited March 14 by cattman

You are correct - we were offered an upsell from our Verandah (with CO) aft to a Signature and took it. However, at the time there were no Neptunes available. Then on the day before sailing one opened up and they called me about an upsell to it for $249 for a 10 day cruise and I jumped on it. As I mentioned, I ended up offsetting the $249 with the $250 CO charge, so got a $1 pp refund to my credit card.

A great deal (depending on how much the upgrade to the Signature was).

Ileneilene123 Posted March 26 #57 Share Posted March 26 Complete Newbie to cruising & learning a lot here. The PCC that is helping me at HAL said that I can take advantage of future promotions and discounts after I book. She didn’t mention rebooking to do this? Also, I am considering adding CO to upgrade from an obstructed VH verandah to a V verandah cabin. Would doing this Club Orange cabin upgrade now affect taking advantage of a future price adjustment or promotion down the line? After I upgrade my cabin using CO, would a future discount or promotion be based on the original price/cabin category or the upgraded price/cabin category? Does this make sense? Thx. Re-faring for new promotion is kinda like rebooking, in that you may lose perks from the original booking, to add the new promo, BUT without having your cabin go back in the 'pool' for even a second. I don't know how CO is going to affect re-faring, as I have never purchased. Hopefully someone with experience will speak up.
KAKcruiser Posted March 26 #59 Share Posted March 26 The category you book and pay for is controlling. In this case it would be VH. So, if there is a price decrease for VH you would be eligible. However, it is very hard to get the phone reps to understand this. Usually I have to ask for a pricing specialist who has more experience and is familiar with this. 1

Remember that a paid upsell, initiated by you, is going to use your original fare basis as the starting point.) If HAL sends you an offer, you'll be picking the room. The only time I've seen anything that impacts CO is an upsell to a Neptune. The NS category includes CO. Someone reported that their CO fee was refunded on a Neptune upgrade. I kinda think it was @DaveOKC But I could be wrong. Our CO & unlimited laundry was refunded when we had a paid upgrade to a Neptune.

Maybe some of the PCC’s are not that well versed in some pricing questions? I explained to my PCC that a Club Orange verandah upgrade would allow me to upgrade all the way up from a VH cabin to a V cabin. She initially said it would only allow an upgrade to from VH to VF. I asked her to please double check the policy & then she confirmed I was right. I owe it all to this site. 4

Here in is the Club Orange room service breakfast menu. You can see the fresh orange juice listed. This is from the Nieuw Statendam in December. I expect that the one from the Rotterdam later this week will be the same. Edited March 27 by POA1 3
YourWorldWithBill Posted March 27 #66 Share Posted March 27 The detail is that it is for CO, not the HIA package if not in CO. 1

If bought at a published rate, you would get double Mariner Points but not with an upsell/upgrade. I would add that you will be charged the usual daily pp crew appreciation gratuities applicable to suites.

I was booked in a VB, aft-facing veranda, by first booking in a VH veranda, purchasing Club Orange, and then getting the free upgrade. For a 7-day, May 19-26, 2024, Alaska cruise on the Westerdam, I had paid $819 pp base fare, plus $175 pp for CO. Today I received an upsell from HAL to a Neptune Suite, for a cost of $499 pp additional for the base fare. This brought the total base fare to $1318 pp. I took the upsell, HAL applied the amount paid for CO price, and then I paid the remaining amount. I was unable to get one of the corner-aft Neptune Suites, but I did get a nice Neptune Suite located center-aft and starboard. This will be our first cruise in a suite, and for a price of $1318 pp (+port fees, taxes, etc.), I think it was a pretty good deal. LAX Posted April 14 #75 Share Posted April 14 I want to express my gratitude to everyone who introduced me to Club Orange. I admittedly was a bit skeptical because it sounded too good to be true. But, I was indeed able to book a verandah stateroom that I had originally planned on for a bit less while having CO included! I am sure there are still tons to learn about sailing on HAL (this will be our first). Thanks again! LAX 6
