Atlanti$ excur$ion🤷‍♀️

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

we just got switched from Labadee to Nassau for our August 11 FOS cruise.  Bummer but not end of world ( bummer because we already are going to coco Cay so was hoping for someplace not Bahamas).

Any ways it'll take royals AMAZING IT department a while to make the change so mean while I'm wondering about excursions.  Hubby mentioned Atlantis being in Nassau and we've never been there. I know it's ridiculously priced as is everything these days. But if anyone has RECENTLY(within the year or so)  done this can you give me some insight. Price and what it includes? I like to stick with the cruise company excursions to keep mishaps to a minimum in light of all the stupidity in the news lately. We use to go wonder off like crazy people with no cares but being a little older now we're more cautious.

Thanks for any help.

The price and description should be (or will be) in the planner. If not available yet, use the web tool hack to see the excursion on another ship/date.

I'll have to look for it on the forums, but there was once a way to buy a night at a different hotel on the island and get day passes to Atlantis.

It was Comfort Suites, but I don't think that is what they are looking for.

I would just take a cab over, walk around in the allowed areas, gamble a little, and take a cab back. I do not recommend the water taxis.

There are very few allowed areas besides the casino and marina village. We’ve done Atlantis through CS and through a cruise excursion, prefer to do it on our own. It’s a 15 minute drive, when we did it through the ship we just took a cab back anyway. The excursion (through the ship, CS, or bought directly from Atlantis) includes the water park, beach and Digs access. I think it’s around $200 pp through Atlantis or resort for a day. I don’t think it’s worth it with small children.

Thank you for mentioning it! I do think OP was looking for what benefits they might get with having full access, as they mentioned "Price and what it includes." OP- you might want to look into the comfort suites thing, not sure if it's still an ongoing deal.

Are you looking to do the water slides?

We were fine with just walking around. There are some Chihuly glass sculptures in the casino. We were able to walk out on a lobby balcony and see a manta ray come up from the aquarium. We had some overpriced snacks and drinks, (listened in on a walking tour that was going on). Gambled a bit, sat in the big chair for photos. We were probably there about 3 hours.

It was pleasant. We felt like we've seen it. We took a cab back instead of the horrid water taxi. 😊 The water taxis are terribly overcrowded. No wonder they tip over sometimes. They pack as many people as they can in. And then there is an uphill walk to the resort, not fun in hot weather.

We recently in October did the Atlantis on our own.  Being the travelers that we are, we opted for the water taxi then walked to the Atlantis.  Others take cabs.  Either is fine.  Water taxi IS cheaper overall imo and based on past experiences with cabs here.  But others have been luckier with pricing.

The day pass can be booked online.  It is from 9 to 5.  Here is the advantage over the cruise ship.  You get there earlier.  You aren't herded.  You can leave later.

Food and drink are not included.  BUT it is not expensive.  We are not big drinkers.  We actually drank soda here and got unlimited refills.

Staff is really nice all over the resort.  There are no vendors harassing you.  Place is gigantic and clean.  I logged so many steps just walking around admiring everything.

You can book extra experiences online with day pass.

We did look at the comfort inn option but it was actually not available for our day.  And I think it was around the same price for the 2 of us.

We just stayed at Atlantis so just sharing a few items.  Every day we were at the resort, there were 4-5 cruise ships in port.  While the crowds did build in the morning and decrease each afternoon, it never seemed horrible.  There was a pretty large conference happening so that might have helped (decrease some of the hotel guests at the common areas/pools since they were in session during the day).

During the day security was pretty diligent about checking for access (wristband or key card).  Some people and some days they seemed to be stricter.  The accessible area without the day pass really seemed pretty limited but I am not exactly sure of the limites since we were staying onsite.  Food on property was a bit pricey so plan accordingly.

With the day pass the water park area really seemed to be the “win”.  While some of the lines did get a little long, most were pretty manageable.  The beach areas were nice if that is what you are looking for with the middle, more protected beach probably the best.  The eastern most beach was too choppy most days.

Just note when you go that Atlantis is cash free and they want a photo ID to use a credit card for food.

Thank you. I think we would eat breakfast on the ship and wait until we got back to the ship to eat again. Not into $20 burgers lol not even at home. Honestly we're not much of fast food type people any ways.

I remember some salads and sandwiches.  It wasn't that bad price wise and was surprisingly good.

I only have 2 more Nassau stops as we are actively avoiding CocoCay, Nassau, Bimini and Cozumel as we are tired of these spots.  The only one I wouldn't mind again is Nassau because of the Atlantis.  We may go back in November off of our MSC trip.  Next month my daughter and I are doing the pigs in Nassau which I don't like but she really wants to do it 🙄.

I think you'll have a good time.  Just the fact there are no vendors is such a plus.
