I’m not quite sure I understand today’s quote but laughter is good.

I transited the Suez Canal just once, in 2007, on the Silver Whisper.  I did not find it all that interesting.

Great days on ancient and sports history.,.

I’ll pass on today’s meal.  My alternative is of course birthday cake.  This is from MS Veendam on May 16, 2016.                

 

 

Today will be the hottest day of the current heat wave with some relief tomorrow. I will be in church before the worst of the heat and then just church to car to church by noon.

A nice birthday present from Graham/Father David today.  Cunard holds a non-denominational service on Sundays at Sea and the tradition is that it is always closed with “Eternal Father Strong to Save” so hearing it again brought back great memories..

Another hot one today. 92 and hopefully some rain this evening. These days I like hiding in the house. Nothing much planned for today. May go out for dinner depending on how I feel.

Good Sunday Morning Dailyites! Temp is currently 76 going up to the high 90s today, no rain, grass is still green, but I think in my yard, it's the weeds that are still green.  I went out to feed the strays this morning, must have been something big and evil in the yard last night, as Collard was limping, Clown aka Roofus had been hiding on the roof, and Chumley was nestled into a wheel barrow that I had a pot full of plants in.  Hunkered down out of sight. All are fed, and I need to look at Collards front paw when the sun is really up. I dont see very well when it is dusky outside.

 

The kittens are still bothering Bob, who I may rename Grumpy Bob.  or Growly bob. He is an orange cat, I could name him "RedneckBob" ? Furnando has learned that bopping the kittens on the head, does nothing to them, so he seems to have accepted them, and Tigger still chases them.  But they are learning to fight back.  Go kittens! I am still trying to figure out how to feed the masses, as the kittens pretty much fear nothing and their hunger lets them run to the plates that belong to the "boys".  Guess I will have to fix all the plates before placing them on the floor. 

 

Not much happening here today, I'm not desperate for groceries, there are a few items we need, Penny invited us over to the pool, and we are going this afternoon. I can stop at  W-M on the way home.  

 

I went to bed before midnight last night, and slept until 6 something-yay-my diabetes monitor woke me up screaming at me that my blood sugar was low. That is rare.  So since I figured I had slept at least 6  hours, I got up as F1 is on this morning, but I dont know what time.  And by getting up when my body was awake and not yet in pain, I avoided the pain hour. Except for my left wrist.

Prerace show is just starting, my first "wake up" hubby (it takes about 5 tries ) and I am going to start my day.

I have no sunrise from June 23, but on June 15 I was somewhat hobbled in the hand by invasive procedures on the 14th.  So this is a sunset from June 15, 2015 on MS Prinsendam at LeHavre.

good collection of days especially the women in engineering.  I like the quote and yum on today’s wine.  It’s a good one 👍. 

 

No luck on the A/C in the SUV - my place was closed for some reason so it will have to wait until Monday.  On the bright side, I scored 3 boxes while I was out.  I always get the fluids topped up but it that is all it is I will be a very happy camper.  I fear it is something else.  The foot is back to burning again - DAMN.  Oh well, vascular surgeon is not that far away. On the bright side, I scored 3 boxes while I was out.  they seem to be scarce everywhere so I get them when I can.

 

 

To water or not to water?  it’s supposed to rain and I’m sure if I water, it will.  If I don’t it won’t.  Hoping it rains - it will knock the mugginess out.  It will be an inside day if it rains so that means more packing stuff up & my poor spread sheets need updating again.  LOL.

Good morning from another sunny day in central Texas.  It is 75F and feels like 75F with 93% humidity and a dew point of 73F.  Our predicted high is 93F, and since we have not had any rain for more than a week, I broke down and turned the sprinkler on last night.  There is no rain in the long range forecast.  I guess our rainy season is over.  The only thing on the agenda today is laundry, which I should have done Friday.

 

I will salute women in engineering, including our own @AV8rix Susan.  Let it go is a good concept that is sometimes very difficult.  I had never heard of Detroit-style pizza, but I think we'll stick to thin crust pizza.

 

An interesting quote, and laughter is good for all of us.

 

The tomato soup sounds good, but for a much cooler day.  The drink also sounds refreshing, but we'll pass on the wine.

 

We transited the Suez Canal in 2003.

 

Congratulations to Iceland for having the world's oldest parliament.  The 1894 establishment of the International Olympic Committee was good for  athletics.

Short post as church services are soon. We missed our Suez Canal transit this year. Though many have told us it’s rather dull we were still looking forward to it. Perhaps some other time. Never have had a Detroit style pizza but would like to give it a try.

When I started University in the '60s my Engineering class of 190 included 2 women.

Last years engineering class at the same University was 51% women. Progress!

After a day and a half in Safaga, we began our Suez Canal transit on April 27, 2003, on the old Regal Princess.  We entered the canal at Suez City, and as Sandi @StLouisCruisers mentioned, we saw a lot of sand.  We've also transited the Panama Canal and the Kiel Canal, and the Suez Canal was the least interesting.  I'm still glad we were able to go through the Suez Canal.

 

Regal Princess was the first cruise ship with passengers to transit the canal after the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.  Two other cruise ships had gone through, but the passengers were taken off the ships in Safaga, and flown to Port Said.  We also had a military escort from Mumbai to Safaga.

 

A friend and I sat out on the Promenade deck and watched the desert pass by.

The Al Badr Mosque.  I tried to find the names of some of the places along the canal, but what little Google maps showed was written in Arabic without an English translation.

When DH was studying engineering at The University of Texas, there were only a couple o women in the Engineering School.  Times have changed, and our older DD has an engineering degree from UT, too.
